Just seen this and I swear they keep forgetting they won the election and are in power now

The constant gaffes and sixth form debate club politics are very embarrassing. I was ready for change, but fucking hell.

Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer speaking in front of a small crowd

Labour volunteers in US helping Harris 'in spare time', Keir Starmer says

The prime minister said volunteers from his party travelled to the US for "pretty much every" presidential election.

Did you vote for Labour in the GE, and how did you vote during the Brexit referendum?

What has that to do with this US election or this thread?

But as a foreigner, I didn't have a vote in the GE or the Brexit Referendum. I don't have a vote in the US elections either.

I would never vote for Trump

Your turn

FloralGums · 23/10/2024 19:06

They are less dumb than the Tories.

Nah, I will pass thanks.

Thanks for your interest in UK politics though, as a foreigner - always good to have an outside perspective.

How dumb are Labour? Well, what can I say? Except that the Labour Government has not gone to America to help Harris, some Labour Party members have.

The Labour Party, as an entity, is not the same as a Government of Labour Mps. Do you get that?

If a Government of any colour attempted to stop me going to another's country and behaving in a legal way, simply because I was a member of a particular party, id call them fascists.

This opening post seems to me to be proof that we need to teach Civics in our schools. For example How Governments work and what rights individuals have. Because it seems clear to me that some people don't understand either of those things, and that can be dangerous for democracy.

Excellent.

Labour need all the tax revenue they can get, so thank you on their behalf.

Well, that idiot may soon have a greater impact
on your little life, than you would like.

My life is a long way from little, thank you.

BIossomtoes · 23/10/2024 19:48

Looks as if Trump needs all the help canvassing he can get. I didn’t realise they actually paid people to do it in the US.

‘The furore threatens to disrupt Starmer’s effort to cultivate ties with Trump, with whom he held a two-hour dinner in New York last month….’

Well, on a brighter note, at least Trump is now aware that Starmer’s dad was a toolmaker.

Source of the quote?

Source of the quote?

Honestly, no.

You keep doing this - believe it or dont.

Google it yourself or dont.

Such idleness.

It’s established etiquette to give a source. If anything’s idle it’s not providing a link, it’s hardly onerous.

DuncinToffee · 23/10/2024 20:06

It's from the FT Blossom

Maybe c&p the URL caused problems Confused

BIossomtoes · 23/10/2024 20:07

Thank you. I wouldn’t be surprised.

This does interest me (if true), you're saying there was a ConservativesforTrump equivalent group of Conservative party officials that volunteered for the republicans in the past three elections while serving as the governing party? Can you show me where this happened?

Edited

@Notonthestairs I've done some searching myself now and can't find anything of the sort but you have repeated that the same has happened with the Conservatives multiple times. Can you (or anyone else) show me where this took place.

‘Established etiquette’.

I must admit that made me chuckle.

Edit: you dispute anything contrary to your narrative, so your asking the source is a smokescreen.

You will note I provide links on a regular basis. Obviously I dispute things I disagree with. My asking for a source is to ensure other posters haven’t just made up their “facts”. Refusing to provide one is a smokescreen.

Don’t ask me the source again - I don’t make up quotes.

Believe its veracity or don’t.

Rummly · 23/10/2024 20:35

A Labour poster asked me for links to evidence Sue Gray being briefed against by Labour before she was canned by Starmer. So I posted a BBC link which said exactly that. She then said that wasn’t evidence.

🤷‍♀️

SOP Rummly.

Amusingly, some of the favoured Labour media, is evidently turning against Labour…

Wasn’t me. I like a link - which is why my use of them is so profuse.

Less chance of misinformation with links and it provides wider context.

But you otherwise admit to being a ‘Labour poster’.

Thanks for the confirmation, noted.

You didn’t need confirmation. I’ve never made a secret of the way I vote. Anyone who’s ever posted regularly on politics threads knows I am. Was that supposed to be some kind of “gotcha”?
