I would like to hear people's opinion on Trump returning to the White House.

Cons: I don't know why this needs explaining. I'm sorry.

Pros: None.

So to be productive, I think you should go first :-)

Are there any pros?

Nope can't think of any pros.

Can anyone explain to me why it seems like the US is scraping the bottom of the barrel when it comes to Presidential elections. They must have better candidates than either the current incumbent or his predecessor.

There are NO pros to Trump returning

I know I will receive lots of hate messages but let me try anyway:
I think if he stayed for the second term his bold and unorthodox stance in foreign policy might have:
Pushed for a peace in Middle East
Prevented a disaster in Afghanistan
Prevented the war in Ukraine
Made a final peace in Korean peninsula

This is my view. You are welcome to challenge it.

Trump returning to the White House would be nothing short of disastrous.

After his impeachment/court cases I don't think he should be allowed to stand anyway, but it appears there is no impediment.

I think your view can only be challenged if you first outline how that's the case for each of those things.

How the fuck would a twat like him have achieved any of that?

He would have prevented war in Ukraine by letting his buddy Putin roll in and take it.

In the Middle East, he’d only be interested in whatever financial deal he could make that would benefit himself.

There are no Pros to him returning to the White House. He has already expressed his intent to seek retribution and revenge on anyone who he feels has wronged him. This is an extensive list of people.

He is still telling lies on a daily basis about a “stolen” election. This has repeatedly been proven to be untrue.

He tries to make himself a victim all the time. A tactic used by many dictators including Mussolini and Hitler.

He has said he’ll repeal the ACA without having a plan to replace it. The ACA isn’t great but it’s better than nothing for the millions who depend on it.

I can’t believe anyone would think he should be given another opportunity to wreak havoc.

The priority foreign policy initiative this time around is expected to be withdrawing the USA from NATO.

Pushed for a peace in Middle East

No relationships between Middle Eastern countries and their relationship with the West deteriorated during his time in the White House. He didn't improve relations

Prevented a disaster in Afghanistan

No he caused the disaster in Afghanistan!

Prevented the war in Ukraine

Possible true but only because Putin was probably afraid of the fact that a man ever madder and more reactive than he is had control of the nuclear button.

pros - I have something to laugh at.

  • his narcissism is inspiring
  • melania will be back as first lady. cue more hilarity.
  • putin can focus on ruling the US via donnie and maybe forget about ukraine
  • I can perfect my oompa loompa look by using him as a model
  • he will hopefully finally shut up about the election that was 'stolen from him
  • he might accidentally/purposefully launch nuclear missiles, cue all nations launch them --> humanity becomes extinct. After a while, nature recovers but no more humans. climate crisis averted.

cons: none

@Tulipsroses I’m sorry, but I have seen nothing in Trump that says he would a) take the various let’s say world peace issues seriously and b) take a peaceable stance towards them. I also recall several vaguely scary moments when he did have power - the “I have bigger missiles than Kim” moment stands out - where he seemed to be actually encouraging conflict.

Pros: the USA will understand what it's like to live under a dictatorship and will realize that, flawed though it was, their previous system of government wasn't awful.

Cons: it will be too late

I lot of people I know in China (particularly anyone who's very red/a Party member) are quite enthused at the possibility of his return. He massively alienates the US from its allies, which makes them feel safer. So, that's a pro for them, I guess? 😅

From a British perspective, absolutely zero positives.

There would be no pros.
From the USA

Report
YireosDodeAver · 12/12/2023 04:23

Pros - it would hasten the collapse of western civilisation and the current socioeconomic structures of liberal capitalism. World peace would be pursued via the rise of a plutocratic tyranny with no further pretence of democracy. Corporate boards will replace governments and people's value will be solely about their usefulness as consumers.

That regime will totter along until the next big pandemic comes along with something deadlier than covid which will wipe out two thirds of the global population and allow the remainder to start again, hopefully with a more sensible setup.

Cons - the usa could lose its reputation for being credulous fools who would rather trust a liar, cheat and criminal than have a proper democracy, and that would seriously damage the comedy industry.

I think part of the problem is that you have to have a lot of money to run for President in the US. That shuts out most younger people.
Thank gawd Elon Musk isn't American.
We're not that bad here yet but I've a nasty feeling we're heading that way. We're far too fond of tugging our forelocks to anyone with a penis and a posh voice.

There are NO pros to Trump returning

Other than the upholding of the US presidential system, and the right of the population to vote freely.

What is beyond me is why the US has only utterly shite candidates
