Trump is pure evil. He almost brought civil war to America. Absolutely awful man.

"Civil war" lol, I didn't see any of his supporters with guns going in to the capitol, the fact is Trump hasn't been charged for insurrection because there wasn't one.

ForTheLoveOfFriends · 20/01/2024 17:49

The reality though is that Trump is almost certainly going to be re-elected.

fleurneige · 20/01/2024 17:53

and this has no pros at all- and absolutely terrifies me. Because he is a mad narcissist with a finger on the nuclear button. It is not 'just' about the USA- we will all be impacted if he returns.

I know I will receive lots of hate messages but let me try anyway:
I think if he stayed for the second term his bold and unorthodox stance in foreign policy might have:
Pushed for a peace in Middle East
Prevented a disaster in Afghanistan
Prevented the war in Ukraine
Made a final peace in Korean peninsula

This is my view. You are welcome to challenge it.

Trump has zero experience and understanding of foreign policy - he’s a huge liability on the international stage. He can’t keep his mouth shut!

BigMandsTattooPortfolio · 20/01/2024 18:16

I sometimes wonder if he’s a tiny-handed automaton. Despite his poor diet of cheeseburgers, fries and fizzy pop, he seems to have more resilience than a cockroach after a nuclear winter.

Really? I'm so glad not to live in America.

Of course there was. And many of them did have guns. Though it's going to waste my time arguing with a conspiracy theorist. Did you also forget that some people were killed on that day?? Did you forget that there is footage of Trump and his family watching the insurrection preamble whilst drinking and celebrating?

Lol. Just his supporters who have been charged and locked up in their dozens. Trump lets them do the dirty work.

Shame about the people who actually got hurt and died though @user1484056932 no name.

Tbf it has potential to hit us harder than the US

MyopicBunny · 20/01/2024 19:05

I dont think its very likely he will be reelected. There are a lot of Americans who are horrified by him. When I say I am glad not to live in America, it's because of the day to day unrest he causes there. If he were to be elected again it will be even worse.

MyopicBunny · 20/01/2024 19:07

@user1484056932 this will refresh your memory

amp.theguardian.com/us-news/2022/jun/28/trump-jan-6-rally-guns-capitol-attack

Hutchinson said Tony Ornato, a Secret Service official and deputy chief of staff, told her of a physical altercation in the presidential vehicle when Trump was told he could not go to the Capitol too.
Trump, Hutchinson said, tried to grab the steering wheel, then lunged at the chief of his security detail.

Kazzyhoward · 20/01/2024 19:11

Pros: They could be rid of Biden
Cons: They;re then stuck with Trump

It's a bit like someone giving you the choice of having your leg amputated or your arm amputated. Similar to the choice we have in the UK between Starmer and Sunak!

Evidence those assumptions and I will. Personally I can't be arsed hating idiots.

But much as I deplore US mythology, let's try a "con" of supported an armed insurrection against the state in violation of the constitution.

MyopicBunny · 20/01/2024 19:27

The dictators around the world will be thrilled if Trump gets back in - he doffs his cap to them because he would like to be them.

Exactly. I was on a psychiatric ward when it happened. I not only know what happened and why it was bad, but I am actually capable of having moral and principled thoughts about it despite being a mental patient. I don’t know what that makes denialists and Trumpists. Of course it happened. Of course he’s dangerous and nasty.

Linzi2377 · 20/01/2024 21:13

I think he will get elected..theres loads of silent trump supporters in fear they get tarred with being racist..people wants immigration control..sick of paying more into nato and of course anti war..worst policy is pro life i suppose but republicans wont win every state

Echobelly · 22/01/2024 08:21

His 'solution' for Ukraine is for it to surrender to the rule of his pal Putin.

His 'solution' for the Middle East is to make more provocative moves that will inflame countries around Israel. So no pros there.

Some people think a pro is he will cause the system to collapse and it will have to start again but I feel that's the view of people with enough money and privilege to cope with that and ignore the massive toll that would have on the less fortunate majority.

The cons are too many to list.

Just to be clear on this - most of them, including Trump, ARE racist. And misogynist. Anti-abortion. In favour of the right to kill people (as long as they are doing the shooting). And a whole loads of other nasty things.

thepressoutside · 27/01/2024 20:04

I saw rhis on twitter and thought it was hilarious.

Really though it's a shame that politics in the USA remains locked in its two-party system. That will be very difficult to change

Pros and Cons of Trump returning to the White House.
MsAmerica · 15/02/2024 02:14

There are NO pros - except of course for Putin, and the right-wing billionaires who back Trump and hope to squeeze more out of another administration, like the Mercer and Koch families.

Trump would actually secure the southern border, which dementia joe has let millions of illegals cross the border intentionally. Trump never started any wars, unlike Biden. Biden has done countless dodgy dealings with China & Ukraine. His son Hunter has slept with underage girls, not too mention his heavy drug use. The us would actually be respected on the world stage again, not the laughing stock they are currently with senile Biden. But yeah Trump is so bad, lol.

Respected on the world stage??? Pardon?

A country that criminalises abortion, but happily allows school shootings....

fluffycatkins · 15/02/2024 18:01

Trump won't secure the border, he didn't first time around.
He is part of the problem because he along with many others hires illegal immigrants as they are cheap effective labor.
Much more than a fence needs to be sorted before illegal immigration ceases to be an issue.

localnotail · 15/02/2024 18:20

Trump would be a disaster for America and for everywhere else.

  1. America will become basically become Gilead. He will try to dismantle all of the government institutions keeping nutcases like him in check.
  2. He will encourage conspiracy theories, cults and religious nuts.
  3. He is a Putin's puppet and hates Europe, so would be quite happy for russia to attack as many countries as possible - he said so himself.
  4. And, of course, would be happy for Ukraine to become a province of russia, with most of the population/ Ukrainian culture erased. Which, I guess, a lot of people on here consider an acceptable price to pay for "peace".
