I don't believe Trump has many personal policies or beliefs of his own, which makes him risky - much like Boris Johnson, I think.
He twiddled with some tax brackets, which temporarily reduced how much some his core working lower middle class voters pay, and permanently reduced corporation tax, so overall, reduced federal income, which will hurt poor voters in the long term, but pleased some of his base in the short term.
I get the impression he is anti-war, in general. Sometimes though (like in Ukraine), military force is necessary to preserve, well, a country's existence, so I struggle to be fully anti-war there. He would have fully left Ukraine to sink beneath the waves.
Because I don't believe he has investments in weapons manufacture, he has no interest in war as being pro-business (which many others in the US government do), so he doesn't promote it. He runs hotels and builds apartment blocks, and wars are bad for tourism and the property market. But you can't ALWAYS run a country like a business (as the Tories here are seeing).
He is personally anti-gun, and pro gun control (I believe) but the one go he had at living up to his "renegade" presidential identity, and following his own beliefs went out the window when he bowed to the NRA after an initial tweet that expressed horror after one of the worst mass shootings (it could have been the Route 91 one?) was deleted, and replaced with a "thoughts and prayers" one, and a complete silence from the White House about gun control. It's the ONE THING he had the power to use his "maverick" identity to do, and change thinking among his own base (which is very pro gun), and he failed.
I don't know why that action (or inaction) is the failure of his that bothers me the most, but it really is.
He has also been accused of rape by a substantial number of women, including his own ex wife and someone who was 13 at the time but was threatened until she dropped her lawsuit, and (like Biden, yes) is getting very old and regularly shows signs of getting confused and tangled in his words, like most of us would at that age.
His children are neither here nor there. I'm not sure people can mock Hunter Biden with Trump children and their spouses (I mean Kushner) running around though?
