Whatever you think of him, I can't help but think his optimism and vision is somewhat engaging?

He’s a bullshit merchant. He’s also a proven liar who has been sacked for it more than once.

IpanemaPeaHen · 06/10/2021 12:02

Why is banging on about Islington lawyers when he was married to one for many years and lived in an Islington town house which he sold for £3.7 million pounds Confused

PurpleDaisies · 06/10/2021 12:03

Build back beaver.

What is he thinking?

MrsSkylerWhite · 06/10/2021 12:03

Rubbish. He’s a blithering idiot. Not an orator, gifted historian, clever strategist who’s fooling us all with his bumbling act. Just a blithering idiot with old connections who got lucky and has the backing of the people who really run the country because he’s a pliable frontman.

PurpleDaisies · 06/10/2021 12:04

I find him almost impossible to listen to.

Bimblybomeyelash · 06/10/2021 12:04

I had to turn off. But I did laugh when he was taking the piss out of Gove.

RunningOnFumes · 06/10/2021 12:05

I find him loathsome but yes his energetic bullshit does seem to appeal to others!

PurpleDaisies · 06/10/2021 12:06

It’s almost as if he’s pissed. It’s a random stream of nonsense that seems to have come out of his head with no filter or edit.

Neveratruerfriend · 06/10/2021 12:08

Doesn't seem to matter what I think of him. Clearly most voters think he's great and don't care about what he does, 'cos he's someone you could go down the pub with. Sad

Flamingosnbears · 06/10/2021 12:08

That's something he is good at talking... Not so good at anything else unfortunately.

PurpleDaisies · 06/10/2021 12:12

Is he good at talking? I don’t see it.

drivinmecrazy · 06/10/2021 12:17

A load of jingoistic word salad at its best!!
So many half truths and blatant lying every time he opens his mouth.
Now taking credit for British sporting achievements.
Un-bloody-believable!!!

hamstersarse · 06/10/2021 12:18

I quite enjoyed it.

Some people really do just want doom and gloom all the time

I wanted a serious prime minister for serious times. Not the class clown.
StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 06/10/2021 12:20

'build back beaver'? 'build back burger'?

This is the Prime Minister and he's up their burbling absolute embarrassing bullshit. Tired old shit about Islington elites despite the fact that Johnson was an Islington resident of many years who sold a multi-million property in Islington not too long ago.

No facts, no vision, just sad little gags to appeal to his chums. An unserious man who's wholly unfit for office.

Continuously amazed that anyone could be impressed by this this waffling blob.

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 06/10/2021 12:20

*there

I hear you.

Me? I'd quite like a competent government but we can't have everything we want, can we?

hamstersarse · 06/10/2021 12:25

Speeches are funny things though. The things people remember about speeches are if they made them laugh (the number 1 thing!) and the stories within them. He does do that very well. .

Can't remember anything Kier Starmer said last week. Not one thing. Maybe something about people with cervixes, but that also maybe wasn't in his actual speech.

OP posts:
DismantledKing · 06/10/2021 12:27

You are very easily impressed

PurpleDaisies · 06/10/2021 12:27

The prime minister’s job is not to make us laugh.

I can’t imagine any people living abroad watching our PM and thinking “I want that guy running my country”.

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 06/10/2021 12:27

You're right, 'build back beaver' will certainly be remembered as the stand out moment of his speech.

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 06/10/2021 12:29

This is why the UK is in such a pitiful state, certain people thinking the point of a PM's speech is to make 'em laff.

MrsSkylerWhite · 06/10/2021 12:29

One thing I certainly remember from Starmer’s speech, because it was the truest thing I’ve heard a politician say in a very long time: that Johnson is a trivial man. Spot on.

if you are the type to believe absolute bollocks, then that is your right of course.

But I will never understand why resumably intelligent people confuse empty words for 'vision'.

Somewhere deep inside, you know he is talking shit and you know you are a mug for falling for it.
