Why would you vote Conservative

Just that really, I am utterly bemused why anyone would vote conservative knowing the lies they've told, the lives they've ruined and the fact they are only interested in looking after their rich friends. I appreciate the choice of parties aren't great, but surely Tories need to be at the bottom of the list? If you are planning to vote Conservative please enlighten me! This thread isn't intended to bash anyone so if you could try and avoid that if possible!

I do know a few, usually lib dem, sometimes labour voters, who are considering Tory in order not to rock the boat so to speak. They feel brexit just has to go steaming ahead (despite voting remain) in order to make the most of a bad job. They think soft brexit (libdem) is going to be chaos and labour are imploding so feel they have no other option (but not decided yet).

I haven't got the bloody foggiest.

ALL political parties have lied, there really isn't a good option out there just now. They all waste money, break promises, upset people. SNP Are hellbent on seafaring Scotland off. Lib dems are a bunch of wishy washy so and so's who don't know why they want and just throw out platitudes for votes (we'll cancel brexit!) which are obviously lies. Who wants Corbyn as PM? We need a more liberal and moderate, less socialist, less elitist, more centrist party to run the country who would be popular with a vast number of people. Sadly we don't have that. Voting Tory many see as the only way to keep corbyn out.

I'm not planning to vote Tory, but I agree with a pp that all the political parties have lied. Personally I could never forgive the Labour Party under Blair for taking us to war under fabricated stories of WMD. So I guess it depends which lies matter most to you!

To be fair to the SNP, they have never said anything different, they are the Scottish National Party and independence is in their manifesto, and they keep getting voted in.

Lib Dems are the whores of politics, they will say and do whatever it takes if they think they will get a little bit of power.

Labour are just red Tories, they have lost their identity and they are no longer for the working class. I don't really know what to make of Jeremy Corbin, he seems like someone's grandad that's got caught up in something by accident.

Greens are just too small to achieve anything, they would always have to rely on a coalition with... someone but I do like some of their policies, only some though.

Conservatives are the pits, they have made us all worse off again (I'm not even thinking about Brexit) I know my family is worse off because of their decisions, and they don't seem to care that they are putting people in to poverty, cutting disability and pushing us further in to a black hole. The NHS is on its knees. I will never vote for them, no matter what happens in the future. It makes me angry that people would keep voting for them, I feel really strongly about it, just don't understand!

I'd never vote Tory but tbh I'm struggling to want to vote for any other party either.

I can't vote Labour after the Blair/Brown years.
I can't vote LibDem because they are openly stating they will override a democratic decision. Regardless of my personal feelings, that sets a very worrying precedent.
UKIP/BNP - obviously no.
Green - likewise for LibDem and much as I am pro planet many of Greens policies would actually damage our environment not save it.

Lifelong Labour voter here and card carrying member of the party for over 25 years. I am going to vote Conservative for the first time in my life.

Jeremy Corbyn has been a disaster for the party.

I have decided Theresa May deserve s own clear mandate to lead the Brexit negotiations from a position of strength.

No other option although I loath Teresa May.

Labour is not a choice although I quite like Jeremy Corbin but his MPs are so not behind him. The popular vote loves him but without parliamentary approval, he will go nowhere.

Lib/dems are a waste of space.

What other options are available? Unless SNP allow candidates to stand south of the border?

This has made me feel worse! I can't believe anyone would consider the Tories, they are an utter disaster for families and working people. They only care about the elite and are happy to suck the rest of us dry to make sure they are kept in the manner they are accustomed.

So far people have said they are voting Tory because all the other parties are crap, but the Tories are the crappiest!

Ugh this is so depressing, out of Europe and sucked dry. I can't believe what our country had voted for over recent years and we still haven't learned.

Sorry ranting now, but this terrifies me!

@Mum2jenny there was talk at one point of the SNP having candidates south of the border but I'm not sure they could adequately represent English voters...

I will be voting SNP and hoping the majority of Scots do the same.

Well, historically the Conservatives are more likely to obtain a majority than labour are so the 'I can't believe anyone would consider the tories' is a little disingenuous.

If you're in Scotland then I'm not sure what you're so upset about? SNP will get in.

Scots voting SNP mean that there the likelihood of a Labour govt for the UK is more and more remote. So I am sure TM will be delighted if most Scots vote SNP.

Voting Tory isn't 'other' that needs justifying. It's the choice made by more people than for any of the others on offer. So perhaps the question should be, why aren't some people also Tories?

It's a really tricky one. I really dislike some of the Tory policies too but I genuinely don't see any other credible options. In all honesty it will make no difference as neither Labour nor lib dem stand a chance where I live but it's the principle of the thing really.
