Even more Trump.

There may be 4 years of this.
Try to keep it lighthearted and not snide, please.
It's Christmas.

By the way, I don't actually find being called "Brussels" funny. Does that mean I'm not British?

claig · 21/12/2016 16:12

'Could you give an example?'

That would be like giving my crystal ball and my broomstick and my hat away, and I won't give up my "Make America Great Again" hat for any money bags that Blair and a band of Blairites and bankers could offer

You are British and don't like my humour, I never said you were not Britsih or Brussels, but I rightly knew that Lweji wasn't for that reason.

Mostly probably because I've previously said that I wasn't British too. :)

Can you identify my origin from my sense of humour?

But I'm curious, as you seem to think you understand America very well. But I don't understand England or English humour, even though I have had much more contact with England than you have had with America?

claig · 21/12/2016 16:13

'By the way, I don't actually find being called "Brussels" funny. Does that mean I'm not British?'

No I said you were British and suggested you had no sense of humour

'Can you identify my origin from my sense of humour?'

I'm good, but not that good. Why don't you tell me and end the suspense?

'But I'm curious, as you seem to think you understand America very well. But I don't understand England or English humour, even though I have had much more contact with England than you have had with America?'

I already told you why. This is getting nitpicky

You also seem to be equating being British with being English, claig.
That is a not so subtle British/English thing I do know...

BertrandRussell · 21/12/2016 16:18

Oh, right. Hey, everyone, is calling me Brussels funny? Just checking whether I have a sense of humour or not.........

claig · 21/12/2016 16:19

'You also seem to be equating being British with being English, claig. '

Absolutely, shared culture. Most of us share a very deep, coomon, subconscious understanding even if we disagree with each other.

OYBK - I've read the first 3 letters that Trump sent. He's against turbines. So am actually. People who live in the vicinity (and they may be many miles away) suffer from the interminable hum of them. It causes them distress and eventually depression.

Salmond said: "Most American presidents don’t send you ‘green ink’ letters, often capital letters. Usually couriered overnight with press articles attached to them, ‘READ THIS!’ Underlined, three times."

What's wrong with that? Presidents may not until now, but busy businessmen definitely do. I worked for one chap who would write on a letter he had received and have me post it back to the sender.

A European businessman I worked for would sometimes scribble a note, attach it to something, and FedEx it. Salmond may find it odd, but he's a public sector worker who does not appreciate that speed is sometimes very important.

That's how busy people conduct themselves, be in with green ink or purple, handwritten or typed.

I lived in the UK, in England, for 15 years. Before and after I've been exposed to quite a lot of English TV, books, news, as well as American.
You've visited America.
So, I don't think your explanation really justifies your claims.

I'm enjoying the suspense, actually. Because you are complicating it. The answer is really obvious.

Missswatch · 21/12/2016 16:21

Oh, right. Hey, everyone, is calling me Brussels funny? Just checking whether I have a sense of humour or not.........

In a somewhat childish way, yes

BertrandRussell · 21/12/2016 16:22

"That's how busy people conduct themselves, be in with green ink or purple, handwritten or typed."

Ah. You're obviously not British, you don't get the"green ink"reference.

Lweji · 21/12/2016 16:23

Oh, right. Hey, everyone, is calling me Brussels funny? Just checking whether I have a sense of humour or not.........

I don't think it's funny, although I understand why claig thinks so.

Having said that, of the people I've met with the most British-type sense of humour, one is Belgian.

claig · 21/12/2016 16:24

'I'm enjoying the suspense, actually. Because you are complicating it. The answer is really obvious.'

I don't know. Help me out.

Sorry, claig, freedom from what? What are you now free to do that you couldn't before? How does this manifest itself?

Or is it just freedom from facts, which actually is a terrifying and dangerous freedom?

"This boy is Ignorance. This girl is Want. Beware them all .... but most of all beware this boy, for on his brow I see written that which is Doom, unless the writing be erased." Thought it was time for a bit of seasonal Dickens.

Missswatch · 21/12/2016 16:25

Lweji. Seems like you are playing a playground guessing game. This is doing nothing to help the conversation

Lweji · 21/12/2016 16:28

I don't see the relevance to the political debate about Trump of my country of origin.

But, you can easily find it if you really want to know. Like I said, it's not a secret.

I have to say I'm enjoying seeing how claig ties herself in knots to justify the question and her conclusions.

I expect she thinks I'm ukrainian or something like that.

Kaija · 21/12/2016 16:29

"Oh, right. Hey, everyone, is calling me Brussels funny? Just checking whether I have a sense of humour or not........."

Well no, but it's a bit like when your mildly xenophobic elderly uncle comes to visit and makes the same limp joke about the Germans etc that he's told a million times before, and you just have to politely ignore it, smile and offer him a mince pie.

Roussette · 21/12/2016 16:29

As opposed to you misss with your endless references to salt and insults to anyone you consider 'liberal'. Ahhhhh rigggghhhhht....

I wonder who did report posts on this thread. All I know is, I didn't. Curiouser and curiouser

Kaija · 21/12/2016 16:30

"Or is it just freedom from facts,"

All the evidence so far points to this explanation.

Missswatch · 21/12/2016 16:30

Wasn't me either

Lweji · 21/12/2016 16:31

I expect claig is right. Probably Blair. Or Trump. Farrage, maybe? Sir Bob? Eddie?

Kaija · 21/12/2016 16:32

"Why would anyone report anyone/anything on this thread? Why?????????

Censorship from the left"

No this one was from the right - Bertrand was reported for asking questions.

claig · 21/12/2016 16:32

I've just checked my email and MNHQ haven't told me off, so no one probably reported me.

OP posts:
Missswatch · 21/12/2016 16:33

Roulette

I merely point out liberal hypocrisy. If the right did any of this shit, the left would be up in arms like they already are
