More on the meaning of Trump, the Trumpsters and Trumpism

OP posts:

"There is no country on earth as great in terms of free speech and free thought and ideas as the United States. If the liberals ever manage to end that free speech, then the whole world will be poorer for it, because only from America can you really learn what really goes on because Americans are the most independent minded people on earth. And that is on nearly every subject - politics, finance, health etc etc Without America, we would all be less free and informed."

Which is why the likes of Camille Paglia should be listened to re free speech. When you have serious concerns from within academia, never mind the offices of power themselves, something is urgently needed to bring the balance back. Cue Trump!

claig · 25/11/2016 22:32

Trump is battling the global elite, not just the American elite.

Trump said

"Hillary Clinton is a vessel of the corrupt global establishment that is raiding our country"

Some analysts are saying that Trump is playing nice with them now in order to get in, but they already know that when he is in, he is likely to take the gloves off.

Go Trump!

OP posts:
Kaija · 25/11/2016 22:33

Sheesh, Camille Paglia's been having those sort of "serious concerns" for the last 25 years. It's her USP

Kaija · 25/11/2016 22:34

Trump is the corrupt global establishment.

claig · 25/11/2016 22:35

Absolutely, Camile Paglia is great and understands what is happening to liberty and how the liberals are trying to stifle it with "safe spaces" in universities and no platform for speakers like Germaine Greer because she doesn't agree with the politically correct zeitgeist.

OP posts:
Chris1234567890 · 25/11/2016 22:35

"I'm sorry to burst your rather worryingly engorged bubble, but Trump can't and won't beat the elites because he is one, and he's just promised them a massive tax cut."

Hes doing pretty well so far and we're only 3 weeks post election! The MSM desperation has gone beyond any concerns of their own credibility, theyre fighting tooth and nail on headlines only. Dont worry about a story falling down at the first casual enquiry, get the headlines out there. Its desperate and its failing.

claig · 25/11/2016 22:41

'The MSM desperation has gone beyond any concerns of their own credibility'

Yes, I thought they would be told by their bosses to tone it down and try to get along with Trump for their bosses' sake, but it is quite obvious now that their bosses have told them to go all out on "fake news", Trump and white supremacists and all the rest of the rubbish in an attempt to discredit Trump. What a bunch of idiots their bosses are.

They underestimated Trump from the start.

OP posts:
Kaija · 25/11/2016 22:43

The white supremacists are real enough unfortunately.

What does this mean, "fighting tooth and nail on headlines only"?

claig · 25/11/2016 22:46

What we are really witessing is the elite's disdain fro democracy and the will of the people. Spin and false reporting and propaganda against Trump from the start, shilling for Hillary, propaganda against Farage and Brexit voters painted as thick racists etc etc

Everyone now sees what they think of the people and the democratic will of the people.

OP posts:
Kaija · 25/11/2016 22:49

That might be what you think you're witnessing (although to be honest I doubt it). It's certainly not what I'm witnessing.

You need to get another of those cute little pictures made up, with the caption "everyone I don't like is an elite". Might save some time.

Chris1234567890 · 25/11/2016 22:51

"What does this mean, "fighting tooth and nail on headlines only"?

Its the reality, that the majority of readers, skim headlines, may take a moment to look at the piece but move on. The headline sticks. In the Daily Mails case, you skim the headline and then go straight to the comments for entertainment. Its the same principle as CV writing, the first 10 seconds gets you in the noticed pile. Theres quite a science behind it now. Heres a good example

"Katie Price's stepfather, 53, 'raped a woman during a drunken group night out with the model's mother at the seaside after she stopped their taxi to be sick' "

The article then goes on to say "allegedly", claims made by whoever..... But the headlines done the damage. Hes commited rape.

claig · 25/11/2016 22:52

'"everyone I don't like is an elite"'

No, because I don't like Sir Bob Geldof and Bono, but they aren't elites.

OP posts:
Kaija · 25/11/2016 22:55

Yes I've certainly noticed this in the Mail before - headlines quite contrary to the actual substance which you only get to in the last paragraph. But I don't think you were talking about the Mail were you?

Kaija · 25/11/2016 22:55

Ah Claig, you have a list. Who would have thought.

You couldn't make this stuff up .

claig · 25/11/2016 22:57

'Ah Claig, you have a list'

A list? I've got a whole library, mainly full of luvvies.

OP posts:
Kaija · 25/11/2016 22:57

Yes.

claig · 25/11/2016 22:58

'Wo-ho, the gift that needs giving...'

originalmavis, there is nothing to celebrate in this terrible turn of events.

Here we go. the "teams" of teenage whizzkids have a new strategy that they are spreading across the world, it's called "fake news" and the Oxbridge teams on Channel 4 News will be hammering it home everyday for months until the people get it

"Angela Merkel voices concern over fake news ahead of German elections

‘We should not underestimate what is happening’, warns German Chancellor"

www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/angela-merkel-fake-news-german-elections-donald-trump-a7439641.html

Renzi next, then "fake news" about Juncker etc etc

The "teams" are working overtime as the people's revolution spreads from the US to Europe.

Chris1234567890 · 25/11/2016 23:14

"But I don't think you were talking about the Mail were you?"

Theyre all at it now Kaija. Across the board. Which media outlet do you rely on for accurate, impartial information?

claig · 25/11/2016 23:15

This is their new strategy, new words already in teh dictionary for this year

"post truth" and now "fake news"

If we hear Tony Blair saying them as he fights to stop Brexit, accompanied by a hand gesture, then we will know that the "teenage whizzkids" are back and having a laugh again.

OP posts:
Kaija · 25/11/2016 23:18

I certainly wouldn't pick one. The important thing is to read everything resistantly and test the arguments.

Im really feeling for America tonight. Do they know what theyve just done?

Kaija · 25/11/2016 23:19

Claig, you seem to have got your knickers in a bit of a twist about this if you don't mind my saying.

claig · 25/11/2016 23:20

Jill Stein is only asking for recounts in states that Trump won. She has raised lots of money.
