More on the meaning of Trump, the Trumpsters and Trumpism

There is a publicly paid for moat and a duck house as well as an unlimited supply of bath plugs, with a flipped home to put the bath plugs in, in it for them if they serve the elite and spin the people.

"Royal wedding: No place for Tony Blair and Gordon Brown

The royal wedding has suffered its first major controversy after it was confirmed that neither Tony Blair nor Gordon Brown had been invited to Friday’s ceremony."

www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/royal-wedding/8470465/Royal-wedding-No-place-for-Tony-Blair-and-Gordon-Brown.html

They are not the elite, they are bag carriers. They are not like Donald J Trump.

Which "analysts" are these? The only people I've seen use the term "sheeple" are conspiracy theorists. They use it to minimise debate and make it look like they are really clever and can see through stuff - they're blessed with greater analytical skills and believe Diana was murdered and the moon landings are fake. So, I'm curious as to who you consider to be an "analyst".

SwedishEdith · 26/11/2016 11:55

"They are not the elite, they are bag carriers. They are not like Donald J Trump."

So, Trump is the elite as well? Wow, this stuff is so confusing!

claig · 26/11/2016 11:57

'I'm curious as to who you consider to be an "analyst"'

That 16 year old from Macedonia interviewed by Channel 4 News, described by their teams as a "computer whizzkid", made some good points.

OP posts:
Southallgirl · 26/11/2016 11:57

There are lots of people who don't like him. Not elites. People

Why don't they like Trump? Why don't you? As far back as the 1980s Trump has talked of running for Pres. I saw him on the Oprah show, so his taking on this role has been a long time in the pipeline. I personally have no feelings of like or dislike where politicians are concerned, and quite frankly I am curious how so many (here & in USA) hold one of these feelings. To me it is curious, a little abnormal and, quite frankly, irrelevant.

I noticed Trump when he started talking about what he would do/not do if he became President - that is what got my attention - the fact that he fearlessly identified problems by name and then stated what he would do.

This perpetual overlaying of like or dislike onto any politician is beside the point, surely. If you met DT you may well like his company. Ditto for Blair, Cameron et al.

The only people that I would not parlez with even now 30 yrs down the line are someone like Adams and McGuiness. What their crew did is unforgiveable (to me) i.e. the taking away & execution of a mother of 6 who showed compassion to a British wounded soldier, but esp. the Hyde Park killing of men and horses. That was beyond the pale. Anyone who destroys non-humans in a major disagreement between humans has committed a sin.

claig · 26/11/2016 11:59

'So, Trump is the elite as well? '

Trump is the real deal. He has defeated the elites and is of course now the people's President and the new elite that serves the people.

'Wow, this stuff is so confusing!'

That is probably because you have been watching too much Channel 4 News. Turn the spin off, read the Daily Mail, it's all in there.

Kaija · 26/11/2016 12:01

"People"'and "elite" as used here are classic empty signifiers.

The question to ask is not what they mean but why they have been used.

InformalRoman · 26/11/2016 12:04

Can I just say a big thank you to Claig for inventing a great drinking game - every time you see the word elite or Oxbridge in a Claig post you have to have a drink.

On the downside, you do get very, very drunk very, very quickly Smile

claig · 26/11/2016 12:04

'but why they have been used'

To understand and explain what has been happening in the world. Even Francois Fillon has been instructed to use those terms.

"François Fillon attacks 'Paris elite' before second-round primary

Conservative who is favourite to win on Sunday dismisses ‘tiny microcosm who think they know everything’

Soon Blair, along with a hand gesture, will read a speech written for him by a teenage whizzkid, which uses the same terms. The elite aren't stupid, they know the people are onto them.

'On the downside, you do get very, very drunk very, very quickly'

So much the better Grin

See - two drinks just in that last post alone Smile

Southallgirl · 26/11/2016 12:07

Kaija Why did some unis here barr Greer and Bindel from speaking?

SwedishEdith · 26/11/2016 12:09

"That is probably because you have been watching too much Channel 4 News. Turn the spin off, read the Daily Mail, it's all in there."

The same Daily Mail that put Jo Cox's murder by a neo-Nazi on page 30 and spun it to be an anti-immigration story?

"That 16 year old from Macedonia *interviewed by Channel 4 News", described by their teams as a "computer whizzkid", made some good points."

Well, quite, Kaija.

"Willfully spreading conspiracy theories to discredit opponents.
Threatening to "lock up" political opponents
Standing in front of fervent rallies inciting criminal acts
Exploiting security fears to remove civil liberties.
Demonisation of human rights, liberalism and feminism.
Scapegoating unpopular minorities.
Nostalgic nationalism.
Vastly increasing military power.
Furious reaction to media criticism, and attempts to bully the press. "

I like that list Squishy. I like how youre thinking. Now apply that list to the last 10 years and what has actually happened. Ill give some clues, (these can possibly answer several of your points, so apply as neccesary)
Russia, WMD, Julian Assange, Chelsea Manning, Russia, Eric McDaid and Marie Mason, Gitmo, The Patriot Act, (snoopers charter here) Russia, sovereignty, fake news, and so on and so on. Love Chrismanynumbers from the 'we havent even got an aircraft carrier' uk.

I enjoyed this article about Trump.

Southallgirl · 26/11/2016 12:18

She has raised lots of money.

Yes, $5 million. Bet there were some very large individual donations in there.

claig · 26/11/2016 12:22

'Bet there were some very large individual donations in there.'

Yep, some analysts (and not the 16 year olds from Macedonia that Channel 4 News spent ten valuable minutes of airtime broadcasting about instead of talking about the increasing national debt etc, as part of their "fake news" output) are saying that there are probably some large Democrat donors contributing.

Here is what Maajid Nawaz says about the Left. They are no longer LIBERAL

www.lbc.co.uk/radio/presenters/maajid-nawaz/maajid-the-left-is-no-longer-liberal/?cmpid=E.LBC_Newsletter_WrapUp_16.11.25&cmp=EMC-SAIL

"Today's active, organised left is no longer liberal. A liberal will always prioritise free speech over offence.

"This behaviour, censorship on the organised Left, post factual behaviour, violence being seen as an option and prioritising group identity over individual rights. It isn't liberal."

He said that this group has now become the 'control left' who want to infringe peoples civil liberties.

"They want to control our lives, control what we think, control how we even feel."

The last bit exactly right.

Southallgirl · 26/11/2016 12:33

Wow! Jeremy Irons has a really great voice in the Lion King.

Southallgirl · 26/11/2016 12:39

All societies, in order to function, need to prioritise one set of values over others

Absolutely correct. In fact, nations that have managed to remain minimally multicultural tend to be the most open to and welcoming of newcomers from overseas if those arrivals come in very small numbers.

Bobochic · 26/11/2016 12:59

claig - I like Francois Fillon and think he would make a good choice of presidential candidate in the current climate but he is on very dangerous ground when finger pointing at the Paris elite. He is very much part of the political establishment and lives a very elite lifestyle.

Southallgirl · 26/11/2016 13:00

A bit of background on Jon Snow.
Jon Snow was with human rights lawyer Madeleine Colvin for 35 yrs, never married. Seven years ago at age 62 he married an academic from Zimbabwe called Precious. His father was a former Bishop of Whitby. Snow is Oxbridge.

SwedishEdith · 26/11/2016 13:10

" Snow is Oxbridge."

What does that mean? He went to Liverpool University and didn't even finish his degree.

Southallgirl · 26/11/2016 13:16

My error about Jon Snow. He didnt attend uni in Oxford, just a boarding school there.
