The entire world's movers and shakers, swindlers and fakers, public money piss-takers will be watching in trepidation at what Trump will do to them. The entire world's great and the good, high and the mighty, shifty and flighty will be supporting Hillary. Will you be with the people supporting Trump?

Have you got the ice cream, the chocolate, the biscuits and the matchsticks to keep the eyelids open ready?

As a warm-up, here is Sky News's 30 minute documentary shown last night

"Trump. Could it really happen?"

Overall, it was about even except that Trump had more passion and commitment to change which is probably the main factor in the election.

Clinton's team suckered Trump in and he is on teh defensive about minor issues like tax returns etc and his insulting language

Granted Trump had a bad week

claig, you can't manage to be consistent even over the space of a few days.

claig · 01/10/2016 09:00

'Maybe the cynicism is rooted in your own self-knowledge claig ?'

No, my cynicism of the political class is rooted in knowledge; knowledge of Blair and all that has happened. That is why Trump is up there, that is why he defeated the entire Republican Establishment and that is why he is now neck and neck with the last defence of the Establishment, Hillary Clinton.

As boxing promoter Don King said

"The Republicans didn't want him, the Democrats didn't want him, the Establishment didn't want him, the only reason he is on the stage is because of the people's will"

Have republicans ever publicly supported a democrat running for president before ? I am not talking about Bush as I believe this has not been confirmed

And republican papers are also backing Clinton

She needs this boost I hope more come out as many must feel utter despair at Trump running their party

claig · 01/10/2016 09:03

'claig, you can't manage to be consistent even over the space of a few days.'

Trump had a bad week after a disappointing debate because Clinton's hired whizzkids have got Trump on the back foot over minor issues like his tax returns and what he said 20 years ago and he is wasting time defending those minor issues and not attacking huge scandals because he doesn't want to hurt "feelings".

Either he is being badly advised or he is losing the plot or it is all a con.

EnthusiasmDisturbed · 01/10/2016 09:05

Don King why would you have him on their campaign trail he is a man with many contrveries surrounding him no one speaks highly of him

Bit like Trump himself

claig · 01/10/2016 09:07

'Have republicans ever publicly supported a democrat running for president before ?'

Never such a high level former President, and USA Today has never in its history taken sides in a Presidential race, and the UN News Agency has never tweeted that Americans abroad should "end Trump" and so many world leaders have never in history said that a Presidential candidate is "unfit" to run for President.

That shows how scared they all are of Trump, because when Trump gets in, it will be the end of the status quo and the start of some of their woes.

No it shows their utter distain for Trump and that the want better for the American public

Adnerb95 · 01/10/2016 09:38

So - lets get this straight! Trump, the champion of the ordinary man against the corrupt, self-serving establishment - the "honest Joe" who will expose the lies and deceits of the political class - refuses to disclose his tax returns - something all Presidential candidates have been required to do.

He stands for the working man, yet has often refused payment to contractors on his projects or has screwed them into the ground on cost.

This capable businessman should be a trillionaire by now, if the money he got from his father, had been invested wisely. He is not even a decent businessman.

He is entrusted with negotiating better trade deals for the U.S. with the rest of the world, who he has consistently insulted and who regard him as a JOKE

But apparently, none of this matters, because he is just a CHANGE AGENT. So, when the U.S. 's economy, International relations, race relations and general standing in the world, is completely SHOT IN 5-7 years, some establishment sucker who actually knows what they are doing, will come along and try and sort the whole mess out.

Should only take a generation or two.

LadyConstanceDeCoverlet · 01/10/2016 09:43

Trump had a bad week after a disappointing debate

But previously you told us that he did better in the debate. Why not admit that you deceived yourself because you were desperate for him to win?

claig · 01/10/2016 09:47

'So - lets get this straight! Trump, the champion of the ordinary man against the corrupt, self-serving establishment - the "honest Joe" who will expose the lies and deceits of the political class - refuses to disclose his tax returns '

No one said he was a saint.

'He stands for the working man, yet has often refused payment to contractors on his projects or has screwed them into the ground on cost.'

He has changed his Establishment ways.

'the rest of the world, who he has consistently insulted and who regard him as a JOKE'

They don't regard him as a joke. They are so frightened of him that they need permament medical care everytme he makes a new speech about them.

They blatantly aren't. Why do you keep making absurd claims like this?

claig · 01/10/2016 09:54

'Why do you keep making absurd claims like this?'

Because that is the understanding I got from looking at their panicked faces.

OP posts:
LadyConstanceDeCoverlet · 01/10/2016 09:56

So you looked at someone's face and instantly deduced that they need permanent medical care? Don't be silly.

Lweji · 01/10/2016 10:00

He hasn't changed any of his Establishment ways. If anything, he's got worse.

paulapantsdown · 01/10/2016 10:05

I don't understand the point of this thread. Why are you all trying to have a rational discussion with Claig? It is pointless.

claig · 01/10/2016 10:16

Thank you, paulapantsdown. At last a bit of common sense.

OP posts:
LadyConstanceDeCoverlet · 01/10/2016 10:22

claig, somehow I don't think you've read paula's post properly. Unless you are, here and now, publicly proclaiming that all your posts are irrational.

Roussette · 01/10/2016 13:07

I suggest Claig you finish this thread off with a flourish because it is all very pointless and your irrationality ebbs and flows so much that no one can understand what you are saying. You repeat the same old phrases again and again and talk as if Trump is the second coming. I don't think you get that he would have little power, there is Congress and the Supreme Court. His hands will be tied, he can't even lower or raise taxes without backing. Make no mistake, he will be undermined all the way if he should get in and his failings will become very apparent very quickly, but why am I talking like this, it's totally hypothetical.

He reminds me of the villain in Skyfall (more ugly though). A meglomaniac.

World leaders are not afraid of Trump, I don't know how you can make these statements with no truth at its basis.

claig · 01/10/2016 13:17

'I don't think you get that he would have little power, there is Congress and the Supreme Court. His hands will be tied'

That is good point. I don't know, we will have to wait and see what happens. I don't think Trump went through all of this just to end up having his hands tied, but we will have to wait and see, first if he wins, and then what he does.

Why anyone would even consider voting for a 3rd party candidate, especially Gary Johnson, when the threat of a Trump presidency is very real, is just beyond me.

I mean, really??? Trump''s bad, but he's not much better: www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/gary-johnson-world-leader_us_57ec59b2e4b0c2407cdbc29c?ncid=fcbklnkushpmg00000013&section=politics

Lweji · 01/10/2016 13:23

I don't think Trump went through all of this just to end up having his hands tied

That's Bill Clinton and Obama. It happens to all presidents without a House majority.

What they can do is piss off foreign governments.

Lweji · 01/10/2016 13:24

Johnson does have great comedic value.

claig · 01/10/2016 13:35

This is Gary Johnson at his best "What is Aleppo?"

You have to wonder if someone has promoted this guy for a laugh.

OP posts:
TheForeignOffice · 01/10/2016 14:14

Libertarian vote around 9% (peaked last election around 3% so pretty significant).

Most republicans I know (handful), just simply can't bring themselves to vote for a misogynistic, racist bully with a bad track record in business management who hides his tax return....it's that simple....nor could I, for that matter.

They don't want Clinton, but need to look in the mirror without actively endorsing the distasteful characteristics Trump epitomizes.

Cue Gary Johnson : fiscally conservative & socially liberal. He may screw up now and again, but there's no way in hell he could screw up even a tenth as much as Trump Smile

Lweji · 01/10/2016 14:35

Not sure how you can make fun of Johnson, there, when Trump is just as clueless.
