Thatcher, the worst Prime Minister Britain ever had.

Thatcher wrecked British manufacturing industry and devastated whole areas of Britain by her obsession with high interest rates.

Under her rule crime rates soared. The Health Service was wrecked. Before she came to power it was the best in the world. After 11 years of her rule it was the worst in the developed world.

Britain's mental hospitals were closed and their inhabitants dumped on to the streets of our cities to be a menace both to themselves and to the general public.

All forms of physical punishment were banned in schools, thus wrecking the education system for ordinary people.

Thatcher crucified the Health Service and was responsible for a number of equally wretchedly mean actions, such as abolishing the Wages Councils and making various cuts in welfare benefits. And breaking the State pensions link with national average wages

Margaret Thatcher also ruined the Social structure of this country by stopping the building of Social housing during her Premiership.

hudd, do you really think the government will change direction or stop targeting the poor, seriously!.

I confidently predict the AV vote will be lost, I want AV and yet i will vote against it to "punish" Clegg and Co. No AV and the LD's will be taking all the shit for no gain.

Coalition cracks all round with any luck.

After what the Labour party has done to this country, putting them in this mess (with the bankers) for years to come, I really hope they do not win power.

The labour party tried to make this country a police state, with their continual Big Brother approach to policies and our freedom of speech.

If they EVER return to power the people of this country will deserve everything they get!

Tony Blair (liar and warmonger) Jack Straw another lying bastard. Ed Balls a power hungry Judas. Milliband a complete idiot, who has not a clue about the working classes of this country (he of the intelligentsia of Primrose Hill) All of them and more, are career politicians, who could not care less about this country.
This country will not be recognisable if they get in again. I pray for my children's sake they do not! Sad Anyway goodnight.

newwave- Yes is ahead of no in the AV referendum polls atm isn't it. I think the next election depends on the economy if the deficit can be eliminated and we get strong growth then I think that the Conservatives and Liberals will do well (it will be interesting to see how the credit would be divided between the parties). If it doesn't then I'd expect Labour to get back in on a similar landslide to 1997/2001

newwave · 23/01/2011 22:34

hudd, i beleive the polls show 47% against and 53% for but no one is campaining at present.

I think the majority of Tories will vote against, Labour will be split but most will vote against to spite Clegg, as will I.

IMHO the sound of Clegg who would turn any right minded persons stomach and Cable pushing for it will be a major factor in people voting against it.

It will be a low turn out and that may have a bearing on the result

huddspur · 23/01/2011 22:39

I don't know about Labour Supporters as Ed Miliband is in the Yes camp so I suspect that Labour supporters will go with their leader and all Liberal supporters will also go yes and will definitely turnout. I get the impression that Tories don't get care so although they oppose I don't think they will turnout in great numbers and I think/hope the Yes vote will prevail.

newwave · 23/01/2011 22:52

I truly believe a lot will vote against in protest at Clegg's lies. The Labour vote will be split. I am/was a LD supporter and will never vote for them again until Clegg's gone the same with the AV vote.

huddspur · 23/01/2011 22:54

I'm a Liberal supporter but I find it incredible you'll vote against it, its our flagship policy we've been wanting to change the voting system since Lloyd George was in charge Confused.

newwave · 23/01/2011 23:05

Because of Clegg, I dont want him to get anything from cosying up to the Tory scum and betraying the party he leads. If he loses that vote he may have to resign and move to the Tory party which is his natural home.

Tell me what have the LD's gained from this coalition?.

I think I have explained my reasons and position reasonably well, you may not agree but there you go.

huddspur · 23/01/2011 23:10

Cleggs not a tory, he's an orangebooker and a Gladstonian.

We've gained a raising of the income tax threshold, electoral referendum, higher captial gains tax, pupil premium, reduction in the number of prisoners, elected House of Lords, scrapping of control orders etc

newwave · 23/01/2011 23:27

We've gained a raising of the income tax threshold, electoral referendum, higher capital gains tax, pupil premium, reduction in the number of prisoners, elected House of Lords, scrapping of control orders etc

The first three, ok fine. but we lost on VAT, student fees and slower debt reduction which is nowhere near balanced by our gains and it made the LD's/Clegg look like a bunch of liars.

Pupil premium is smoke and mirrors there is no new money in the education budget just taking from Peter to pay Paul.

Reduction in prisoners, that is to be seen.

Elected house of Lords, i hope it happens

Control orders, that will be a fudge to calm the Tory right.

huddspur · 23/01/2011 23:33

Have we really lost on debt reduction, we had to accept the cuts in this financial year but that was probably sensible considering the Southern European firestorm to calm the markets. Other than that we're going to eliminate the deficit in this Parliament which is what we were planning anyway.
I agree the whole student fees debacle was a disaster for us but I do think we're getting liberal policies implemented by the coalition.

newwave · 23/01/2011 23:42

LD & Labour said they would eliminate the debt over more than one parliament so as to reduce the social damage to society and to try and ensure that unemployment was kept lower.

We should have put our foot down regarding Student fees instead we did not just break our manifesto promise we broke Personal pledges which was far worse.

Why would we be believed on anything we say, this will come back and bite us at the next election, Labour will run a spoof of our "broken promises" election broadcast.

complimentary · 24/01/2011 09:29

Newwave. Pleases keep to your promise of not voting for AV. Don't be persuaded by others from your chosen path! Grin That way Liberals will never see power again.

Neither will the Labour party (thank god).

Please spread the word to vote against AV.

I was all for voting for it, now I think I'll vote against AV just to keep the above out! Smile

Niceguy2 · 24/01/2011 09:47

KnittedBreast · 24/01/2011 11:16

thatcher was an evil woman, sadly cameron is even worse.

the answer?

Vote Green. true socialism

GabbyLoggon · 24/01/2011 11:48

turnout is important. One in four dont even bother to vote at General elections.

The Aussies get a very high turnout. Perhaps we should give people a free lottery entry if they vote "Gabby"

GabbyLoggon · 24/01/2011 11:51

Sorry, I forgot about the "blessed Margaret"
She sacked a minister for using that name

I saw her twice; and was not over impressed. Her ministers turned against her in the end.

claig · 24/01/2011 12:27

you saw her twice on the TV?
