Or Wiccans. or Pagans? Or anyone who is interested in a magical path or feels some magical stirrings.

A place for support, learning, swapping ideas and magical inspiration.

Thanks for the shiny new thread Speakout. It feels quite fitting that we start a new thread as we look forward to the new year ahead. Despite all that's happening, I'm feeling positive about 2021.

But for now, who'd like tea? Brew

speakout · 26/12/2020 12:56

VioletCharlotte

I would love a tea thanks!

Thirteen is also a very magical number.
The number of moon cycles. menstrual cycles. Such a sacred number

Morning all.

Speakout I was thinking the same about this being number 13. It feels particularly auspicious that we move into this number as the Age of Aquarius begins. I feel very positive about the energy we are going to cook up over the next weeks on this thread.

I have had an uneventful Christmas, though have felt emotionally very flat. I usually love the slow pace of these days at home, but they come on the coat-tails of LOTS of social activity for me. Of course this year none of that happened and so it has really felt yet another day stuck at home. I have tried hard to reset my mood but am accepting that I need to just feel the blues a little. It's almost like I am mourning the lost opportunities of the year (I am mostly very thankful for the world making me stand still, I have begun great spiritual growth this year as a result)

It's cold here today, starting to get light outside so i need to go and survey for any damage from last night's storm winds.

Aerwyna · 27/12/2020 09:52

Thank you for the new thread speakout, the number 13 feels auspicious to me too.
And yes please to the tea!
I agree queenrollo, sometimes we just need to feel it for a while don’t we. A very different year, a double edged sword.

It’s bright and calm here right now after a wild night, it’s good to take a moment to enjoy it. I hope everyone’s day brings them the magic they need.

FilledSoda · 27/12/2020 16:26

Merry meet everyone 🎄

thesearetherichesofthepoor · 27/12/2020 18:32

Hope nobody minds me joining.

I'm very new to this journey having picked up my tarot cards for the first time in a decade over lockdown version 2!

I'm really enjoying reading all of the wisdom shared on the previous threads.

Elphame · 27/12/2020 22:10

Evening everyone = I have some mince pies left if anyone would like them with their tea Smile

BlankTimes · 28/12/2020 02:05

Grab a cushion and one or two of Elphame's lovely Mince Pies thesearetherichesofthepoor

Elphame while you're here, I'm trying to make some Gunpowder (tea) Whisky for a friend as a liqueur.

I'm not bad at tinctures, but this is not quite the same thing, it's trying to get the balance for a pleasurable drink as opposed to extracting the medicinal benefits.

How much gunpowder would you advise to a 70cl bottle of Whisky and how long a steeping time do you think?

VioletCharlotte · 28/12/2020 11:11

Good morning. I've woken up to a drop in temperature today and snow! I don't think it's going to settle as it's too wet, but it's nice to watch.

Welcome to our new comers and thank you Elphame for the mince pies.

I've felt a real shift in energy the last day or so. After weeks of feeling exhausted and like I was swimming through treacle, all of a sudden I feel much lighter and able to look forward. I've got an urge to clear and declutter to get ready for the new year. Yesterday I did my wardrobe, today I'll be tackling the lounge. It's amazing what we accumulate!

I'm looking forward to tomorrow's full moon, this feels like a special one as it's so close to the New Year. Is anyone planning anything for NYE? I've got a real urge to have a fire ceremony in the garden (albeit on my own!) to return to the universe all the things I no longer need and give thanks for all I've learned.

thesearetherichesofthepoor · 28/12/2020 12:02

Morning all!

Just had my new tarot cards delivered and they're gorgeous. Not to everyone's taste but I love them. Think these will just be for my personal readings.

Unsure if it's the full moon coming up but I've been hit by a huge cleaning urge (very rare here) and I'm planning to collect some moon water for the first time and have a cleansing bath to let go of the negativity from this year.

Elphame · 28/12/2020 23:12

Sorry @BlankTimes just seen this! It's not a combination I've ever done but I usually use an ounce ( sorry old money here!) of herb to a pint of spirits and sweeten with honey to taste.About 1/2 a cup, more if you like it sweet but do put at least a little in, it softens and blends the flavours and gives the liqueur mouth feel. Normally I'd steep for about 5 days in the spirit, strain off the herbs and re-steep them in 1/2pt of water for a few more days before adding the water to the spirit.

The real secret is to leave it to mature. Minimum of 6 weeks but 6 months or a year is better. I hated the nettle liqueur when I made it but pushed it to the back of the cupboard and forgot about it. It matured beautifully and didn't last long when I found it again a year or so later!

BlankTimes · 29/12/2020 01:03

Thanks a million Elphame I'll do that. I'm fine with avoirdupois, I can't visualise metric.
I've ordered the gunpowder, theuklooseleafteacompany.co.uk/products/gunpowder-organic-green-tea. I'll make a brew with it myself to see what its notes are, I'm hoping for smoky but if not I may add a bit of oolong too and guage how much honey it needs.

sararh · 29/12/2020 01:54

Hello! Grin Flowers I've never referred to myself as a witch, but having read through some of the older threads, there's quite a lot in there I can relate to on a spiritual level.

I'm going into town tomorrow where there's a market that sells things like crystals and oils. I want to pick up/do something that might help relieve the incredibly low mood I've been in for the past few weeks, and also something that might help relieve pain in very elderly relative who is on various medications (that is to say the latter can't be anything that needs to be consumed/might otherwise interact with their medication - I'll research any suggestions thoroughly myself as well so don't worry!).

Any advice on what to get/do for either of these would be incredibly appreciated Grin

BlankTimes · 29/12/2020 02:16

Hi sararh come in and grab a beanbag and a cuppa, it's cold outside. Here are a few ideas, I'm sure there will be plenty more by morning for you.

Mood lifting oils, Frankincense is great, some people like to use it alone or with orange too.

Clary Sage but do read up on it first, it can make you a bit lightheaded, so don't use if you need to drive etc.

Salt Lamps are lovely to have in a room, natural ionisers and a lovely relaxing warm glow.

Pain relief, very hard to say as the recipient could be allergic to the oils you'd use for say a a gentle massage, patch test and interaction with all meds check needed.
Tension can heighten pain so maybe Lavender diluted at 1 drop per 5ml of carrier oil.
Wheat bag if they have access to a microwave.
Teach them breathing techniques to deal with pain.

sararh · 29/12/2020 08:52

@BlankTimes hello and thank you very much for all the suggestions, I have made a note :)

HillsBesideTheSea · 29/12/2020 16:58

It has been the perfect morning for a little snow magic. Although not enough for snow lanterns.
it is nice to feel the inner calm that comes with the snow for me. Especially after all the chaos before the holidays.

Probably hoping against nature for a few more snow days before Easter. But it would be really nice.

Hello to the new faces since I last drew a chair up around the fire.

sweetkitty · 29/12/2020 23:48

Hello my lovely friend happy new thread
Can anyone else feel the moon or am I just being a bit crazy? I saw it last night on by way hole still not a full moon but beautiful all the same. We had a good few inches of snow last night too this morning it was so beautiful. Just what the children needed you could see them all out playing and laughing it was magical. We took the dog and DS sledging just before sunset Mother Nature reminding us who is in charge. Think some more snow forecast for tomorrow afternoon down to minus 3 tonight too.

MedusasBadHairDay · 30/12/2020 10:27

I'm a little jealous of everyone with snow, seems to have missed us so far. Though, on the positive side, we have lovely blue skies today, which has improved my mood. I really struggle on the grey days.

Aerwyna · 30/12/2020 11:01

Loving the snow energy, thank you for sharing it!
None here either but like Medusa I was lifted by clear blue skies yesterday. It’s grey again today but I have clary sage lemon and lavender in the diffuser to lift me (a new thing for me, I’ve only used oil burners before)
Welcome to those joining us, tea supply is infinite and I’m hoping I’m not too late for one of Elphame’s mince pies Xmas Smile
Definitely feeling the moon energy too sweetkitty This picture has been shared before but always makes me smile.
Wishing everyone a magical day 🌝

HillsBesideTheSea · 30/12/2020 11:04

Can some one help with an essential oil blend. I want a forest smell as the end result. But all the 'recipes' contain things that are very much NOT forest type smells. Lavender, etc. Is there a reason for it. And what would you put in a forest blend?

There are reasons for this blend but i am not sure that you can capture the smell of forest and leaf litter in quite the way that i would like, and know that it is not a subsitute for the real thing really. You just can't have the real thing when you are sat in an exam hall.

BlankTimes · 30/12/2020 11:47

Vetiver is pretty close to Earthy Hills I love it.
