Or Wiccans. or Pagans? Or anyone who is interested in a magical path or feels some magical stirrings.

A place for support, learning, swapping ideas and magical inspiration.

Thank you for the link- so kind of you both to think of me.

I think the church is long overdue an apology for the thousands who were murdered and tortured. It makes me quite incensed if I dwell on the topic. Two churches in my local town were particularly fervent- and even now monuments to the clergy involved stand proudly inside the nave of the church, to honour these upstanding men.

The movie is the "Princess Switch 3", I assume there must have been prequels, 1 & 2., and I don't think I know any of the actors- I assume they are famous in their own worlds!!

Hope everyone is safe and well! Aerwyna, I was intrigued by your freezing work comment. I did freezing before, it was fabulous for stopping gossip and so on. But how would one use this idea for something to be grown in the future? Do you mean a situation arising now, but you're not ready for it, but you freeze it until you are ready in the future?

Aerwyna · 08/01/2021 16:02

Glad you’re better rested Violet, I can imagine the walk will have blown the cobwebs away! Hope you feel better for it

speakout it’s an utter disgrace isn’t it. Makes me furious too. I love the work you do to honour the women who suffered and died.

kedybuttons I agree ice can be great for freezing out unwanted circumstances and I can see it when it stays frozen in the freezer. I was just thinking when it was icy this morning that it would be good to work with it to freeze out ongoing difficulties I’m experiencing. Then I thought that that’s all very well until the ice melts and releases what I’ve frozen! To encourage myself I thought that instead I could put something ‘on ice’ to look forward to once I’m through this rough patch, so the ice melting and releasing the energy would be a positive. Some of us made ice candles before for imbolc with similar intentions. As it went the sun came out and everything melted quickly here anyway, so that’s something to think about for another time. In the meantime I might just put the f**rs who are causing me grief in the freezer!

speakout · 08/01/2021 16:31

I love your idea about ice spell Aerwyna.
To literally put somethig on ice until you have time and headspace to deal with it. Genius!

I remember last year making a frozen candle for a visit from my inlaws, lovely people, but some personality clashes can lead to a little tension- amongst 8 of us.
I made an ice centrepiece for the table, sey within it an intent of calm and harmony, mixing up some spellwork, herbal correspondences, colour, oils, so the ice was charged with peaceful intention.
As the candle burned and the ice melted the spell was manifest.

So on a similar vein you could put gems or nuggets of ideas of intent and freeze them , until such times that you are ready to pick up that energy again.
I keep thinking back to the Caillaich's tightly clenched fist in my mind, seeds for the future.

So raher than dismiss ideas or feel frustrated that you can't act on them right now you have a frozen treasure pot.

If that is what you mean I think it is a fantastic idea.

OP posts:
Aerwyna · 08/01/2021 18:33

Yes speakout! You describe so eloquently what I was trying to explain, and yes to the Caillaich energy. That’s definitely an inspiration that’s come from you. I’ve been holding hope with the vision you’ve shared of her. Thank you!

I love that story of your ice candle work to bring harmony to the family gathering. Beautiful and effective. I very much enjoy the way we can weave magic through everyday occurrences and events, often under unsuspecting noses.. Halloween Wink

VioletCharlotte · 08/01/2021 19:22

I really love the idea of literally putting something on ice. It feels really fitting with the way things are right now. There's a lot of things we can't do, either because we're prevented from doing so or because we just don't have the headspace.

I tend to jot down ideas or things to do another day. I love the idea of using magic to store and nurture these thoughts.

Speakout I can picture your family say round the table with he melting candle in the centre, beautiful work. *

Aerwyna your comment about putting the f*rs in the freezer really made me laugh! Preferably one of those big, chest freezers, with a heavy lid!

speakout · 08/01/2021 19:33

Aerwyna
everyday occurrences and events, often under unsuspecting noses..
Hiding in plain sight.
Unfortunately something that wise women have had to become adept at in the past few centuries.

VioletCharlotte those big, chest freezers, with a heavy lid!

That made me laugh- I have one of those in the garage. No idea what the bottom half even contains. Thuts with a heavy thud,
I call it my cryogenic suspension unit.
But also good for making ice candles, and all sorts of frozen secrets.

VioletCharlotte*

I tend to jot down ideas or things to do another day. I love the idea of using magic to store and nurture these thoughts.
I have been mulling over this idea too.

We often give ourselves future gifts. Even something as simple as setting out our clothes for the next day, putting our socks on a radiator, preparing food for the next day.
I always come back to these gifts and thank my past self. Taking extra time to do a chore or a nurturing thing- whether taking out garbage or making overnight oats, finding this energy in a different time always makes me feel good.
Part of ongoing dialogue with ourselves.
I am thinking also of Banktimes and Elphame tucking away alcoholic treats for future times- all part of the same process.

Amongst our many skills dear sisters it seems we are also adept at time travel.

OP posts:
kedybuttons · 08/01/2021 20:52

Thank you Aerwyn and Speakout! I had never thought of it that way, with ice melting and releasing the energy, or as you put it, a future treasure chest :) Interesting. Guess I always thought of it one way, freeze and stop, rather than the melting, which adds another dimension. Can imagine it working also for example for a secret when you want a controlled release.

Aerwyna · 08/01/2021 22:03

Ha! Oh, that’s brilliant Violet and speakout- the chest freezer, the literal image, the loud thud as the door shuts.. really made me laugh. Just what I needed, thank you!

And what wonderful posts and ideas about frozen treasure chests, gifts to our future selves and the controlled release of a secret.. ice magic has endless possibilities and my mind is awash with thoughts about how to weave some magic to manifest when I’m ready for it. Thank you so much sisters, you’ve made another tough day feel hopeful and that is priceless x

Iwillneverbesatisfied · 09/01/2021 08:32

Good morning everyone. I'm a wee bit depressed because I am waiting to hear if I got my dream job and was hoping to have heard by now.

I have tried to generate positive energy and luck by candle burning, tarot reading and crystals. The tarot drew the triumph card first which should be a positive sign. I just hate the waiting.

Please send me all your positive vibes!

Aerwyna · 09/01/2021 10:45

Best of luck Iwillneverbesatisfied I hope you hear back soon🤞 I’m not familiar with the triumph card but it certainly sounds promising!

I hope everyone has a chance to relax a bit over the weekend. I know it’s not work free for many but I hope the pace is manageable.

I’m gearing myself up for a methodical admin job. Peppermint tea and music should help, I’ll be ok once I get into a flow state.

I’m also thinking about what I can use up from the freezer to make room for ice candle holders! Inspired by the discussion here I’m keen to get started on the ‘on ice’ magic. I was thinking about working in layers, adding something different each time. Positive steps I can take now to build the energy I want in the future. speakout I loved your words about time travel and will weave this idea in 🙏

speakout · 09/01/2021 11:21

Iwillneverbesatisfied I hope you get a good result soon.

I am having an easy pace too, working but with a gentle energy.

Still a very wintry snowy landscape here. Although the sun is low the light is reflected and it feels very bright.
I have music playing and candles burning, heating pumped up high.
Saturday is my no cook day, so will be a takeaway, or pizza, DS has some dough proving in containers. Last time he made pizza he proved the dough for 3 days- I admit to being a little cynical about such a log proving time, but the results were delicious.
Aerwyna I love your idea about layering an ice spell- that will produce a huge amount of manifestation energy when it melts!

WitchQueenofDarkness · 09/01/2021 17:13

Good luck Iwillneverbesatisfied Fingers crossed with you.

Well now the orange mead is bottled my heat pad is free so I've now put a batch of what will apparently be G&T flavoured mead on to "cook". There are some interesting recipes in the book but it's a shame it wasn't better proof read. It really lets it down.

Aerwyna · 09/01/2021 18:13

I love hearing about all these potions being made, I don’t drink any alcohol but they still sound delicious to me! What book is it WitchQueenofDarkness? Sorry if I’ve missed something, I’m curious!

speakout I’m also interested in the super proved pizza dough! It’s something my DS enjoys doing too, I’ll have to suggest it to him

I hope you’ve managed to relax a bit satisfied, I know waiting for news on a job can be hard, particularly when you want it so much

VioletCharlotte · 09/01/2021 18:29

Yes, the orange mead caught my attention too! I don't drink alcohol either (not by choice, it makes me feel awful - thanks perimemopause!) It does sound delicious, I love anything with orange in. I imagine your house must smell good day WitchQueenofDarkness

Iwillneverbesatisfied I hope you hear about the job soon. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. I know what you mean about waiting, I'm not the most patient of people! *

Speakout* I loved reading your description of the snowy landscape. I can pictures it, it sounds so magical. I hope you're warm and cosy indoors.

No snow here but it's incredibly cold. I've been out for a long walk this afternoon, it was good to be out in the open air, feeling pleasantly tired this evening and looking forward to curling up with my book.

Elphame · 09/01/2021 19:38

Oop sorry - name change fail!

The book is called Just Brew it by Sarah Newbery

GoLightlyontheEarth · 09/01/2021 20:21

I am curious about ice spells. Where can I learn about them?

speakout · 09/01/2021 20:35

GoLightlyontheEarth

Not sure about sources for ice spells. I know that freezing spells are a popular thing, there is no one definitive authority.
I would google, bound to come up with lots of resources.
Many of us here enjoy creating magical ideas without boundaries.

As Speakout says, many of us like to freestyle and just work on intuition and what feels right. However Pinterest is great for ideas Smile

sweetkitty · 09/01/2021 23:45

Went for a walk today just at sunset, we were at -7 last night and are at 5 degrees tonight so quite a swing so the hard ice is melting finally. Took this photo of the loch you could hear it melting and cracking, the dog (I think you may just see her nose in the corner) was most disturbed by the sounds. She usually lives to zoom along the sand here or go for a paddle I think the ice is throwing her completely and the sound of it cracking. DH prefers to walk her around pavements I prefers out in the woods with no one else around some might find it scary I find it soothing.

Spending this weekend trying to just regroup and focus after a funny few days at work. I think I need to focus on not allowing other people to get to me so much, their sense of entitlement, their emotions, I need to let go and realise I can’t control things so I need to stop getting so wound up about it.

I have a huge Amazon wish list for when I get paid at the end of the month too

Any Witches here? Part 13
speakout · 10/01/2021 08:45

I love the sound of your ice music sweetkitty .
As I sit and have my breakfast I can feel a tinge new light creeping into the dawn. The morning bird chorus is getting louder too.
I had an amazing forest walk yesterday with my DD- was so good to see her, the normally muddy ground was frozen into sheet ice, snow all around, very magical.
This poem popped up on my Facebook page ths morning- I think some of you may have seen it, but I found it very inspiring, so I thought I would share it here.

And so she woke up from her deep slumber,
disturbed by men who discussed the
reason she came to be,
named her with their insufficiency
and damaged minds,
claimed they knew her
as a tool for their own pleasure.
They were sure they knew.
And in their ignorance
she cast them aside.
And so she woke up,
her body swelled with ancient knowledge
born from a million queens,
she surveyed her land
proud and full,
ready to rule and win
and put the disquiet to rest.
The wind carried to her the
cries of her women.
The taste of their shame tainted what once was
sweet sanctity for the Female,
where men knew nurturing and love.
And so she woke up
But what is this?
“You woman, help your sister up
and hold her higher than yourself.
What has happened to your sacred bodies,
to your blissful hearts?
Why do you make yourself small.
Starving.
Let no man tell you about the
shape of you.
Let no god rip the sacred from you
and render you dead!”
“Wake up Women!
For I am Goddess and I say
you are the most sacred of all!
My women wake up!
Wild and wild and wild
and free
boil your herbs and
read your tarot
and cast your spells
and dance your dreams.”
“Wake up Women
Wake up!
For I am Goddess and I say you will”

Oh that poem is very inspiring speakout, thank you for sharing with us. ‘Wild and wild and wild and free’ will be my mantra for the day- very powerful!

I love the sound that too sweetkitty, made me think of the ice music speakout shared with us recently. I agree that quiet woodland is so soothing

The freeze is not so deep or long lasting here but the rosehips and spiders webs looked magical adorned with the frost this morning

BlankTimes · 10/01/2021 10:55

Lovely poem Speakout especially for an icy morning as Mother Earth begins to stir from her deep slumber.

I saw this article this morning and thought it might be of interest, a labyrinth being built in Cornwall using Cornish hedging techniques which are thousands of years old which will be passed down to the next generation.
"The makers of Kerdroya (a Cornish word that could be roughly translated as castle of turnings) also make it clear it is a labyrinth, not a maze. “A maze is about getting lost,” said Coleman. “This labyrinth will be about finding yourself.”"

www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2021/jan/09/its-about-finding-yourself-cornish-hedgers-plan-record-breaking-labyrinth?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other

And for a very modern viewpoint, Tom Graves has an interesting perspective of using a labyrinth to show how we learn new skills.

Aerwyna · 10/01/2021 12:57

Oh that’s interesting BlankTimes, I love the way the project will be used to pass on the hedging skills to the next generation. Made me laugh them saying it’ll get done ‘dreckly’!
I’ll look forward to that, thank you for sharing it
