Can I join? I feel a bit strange joining in though. I've been told that I have abilities and I'm very intuitive but I've not explored it properly.

I've always had an interest in astrology and star signs. I've also always been superstitious - I have lucky horseshoes, 4 leaf clovers around my house.

I also do candle colour therapy. I have been burning a lot of green as that is for luck and success and I need some.

queenrollo · 01/01/2021 10:51

Welcome @Iwillneverbesatisfied please do come along and join us. You can post or just pop in and read what we're all up to. There's no pressure to be an active particpant. I am lurking in the background an awful lot and then will pop up and post busily for a few days.
All the old threads are linked in page one of this thread and well worth spending a little time reading through.

Happy New Year to you all. It's bright and very cold here today! I am no real fan of cold weather due to bad circulation in my hands and feet but the energy out there today is crackling!
We're off up the beach (it will be busy) for a walk before collecting my eldest from his dad's.

Aerwyna · 01/01/2021 10:57

Well, here we are sisters. 2021. Not necessarily a significant date in witchcraft/ pagan terms but a marker of the passing of time nonetheless.

The wheel turns and change is a constant. We can use this waypoint to hang hope from, a sense of a fresh start, a full stop to 2020.

I think there’s a sense of clearing to be found in the starkness of January- freezing out the old and clearing the decks- the magic of ice. May your 2021 bring clear sight and the blessings of the goddess ❄️

BlankTimes oh that is special, thank you for sharing it

Welcome Iwillneverbesatisfied, pull
up a cushion and have some tea. There’s lots of lovely wormholes throughout our previous threads that I think you’ll relate to, have a look when you have time.

BlankTimes · 01/01/2021 11:00

Morning Iwillneverbesatisfied grab a cushion by the Aga and help yourself to tea. Do have a read through some of our previous threads to see what we're about and give you some ideas of the paths you'd like to explore.

You have an interesting choice of username, maybe have a ponder on that Smile

Quite a few of us are doing yoga with Adrienne, it's breathwork currently, definitely worth trying if it's something new to you.

Aerwyna · 01/01/2021 11:06

Cross posted with you queenrollo The beach sounds lovely, hope you find a quiet spot to enjoy that lovely crackling energy Smile

@BlankTimes not sure what you mean about my username? its a reference to a song lyric. I do change usernames often though to maintain anonymity.

Yes to the Adriene- I was glad just a short meditation/intention setting this morning!
Tomorrow the work starts!

Good morning and blessings to you all for a Happy New Year.

Welcome Iwillneverbesatisfied plenty of room by the fire 🔥

I'm doing 30 days with Adrienne too. I've done it the last couple of years and always enjoy it.

Queenrollo enjoy your beach walk. I often go to the beach on NYD, but not allowed this year unfortunately as it's too far to travel.

It's really cold and wintry here today, the trees look so pretty covered in frost. I enjoyed my morning walk with the dog, everywhere was quiet and still - I think the cold put off the hordes of bored families I've had to navigate in recent walks!

Back indoors in the warm, Ive just had a bowl of hot soup for lunch and motivating myself to get going and take down the Christmas decorations. Normally I like to have them down NYE but I don't feel the same urge to burst into the January. I'll take my time this year.

kedybuttons · 01/01/2021 14:12

It was a beautiful moon yesterday night. I have a question: do you ever find you are consistently better at some spells than others? For example for some reason I'm better at banishing, driving away type work and not so great at others.... What do you think this says about a person?

HillsBesideTheSea · 01/01/2021 14:29

Focus of intent.
Banishing and driving away type work tends to be performed when you are more highly focused on the result due to higher levels of emotion. There for in theory the amount of intention put into the working is likely to be higher. Other spells might not have the same natural focus of intent and thus require more deliberate inputting of intent.
To me this says that basics need to be returned to and practised, and maybe the nature of the workings (is it out of a book and blindly followed or is it yours) but that is all that it says to me.

Sorry if that is a bit blunt. I feel like i have been thrown into a tree today. And can't find the painkillers.

kedybuttons · 01/01/2021 15:04

HillsBesideTheSea, thank you so much for taking the time to reply when you aren't feeling great, hope you feel better soon! You're right I can feel the intent and energy much more strongly in my body with this work. And yes I feel too there's a difference between blindly followed prescriptive work and work I can intuitively understand (e.g. Also with herbs/resins when there's an intuitive association ) what do you think can be done to develop intuition for other types of work that doesn't come the most natural? Guess lots of meditation and convincing oneself...

HillsBesideTheSea · 01/01/2021 15:20

Have you heard of visualisation work? Practising the ability to visualise is a basic skill, but one I find needs constant returning to and practise.
But you also have to make sure that your reasons for doing the spell work are true (iyswim) Can you solve the problem through a mundane route, is the reason for doing the working going to be achieved through the working that you are trying to do. Is the working a slow burner. No all results are immediate nor occur in the manner that we expect.

on the last thread i was reading a book called before you cast a spell. it might help you, it might not be something that you agree with. But i rambled on about it enough that you should get an idea of it if you think you might be interested.

BlankTimes · 01/01/2021 15:23

Iwillneverbesatisfied everything has a vibration, what you choose to surround yourself with and what you choose to present to other people.
Like attracts like. It's interesting to ponder, reflect and consider the choices we make in our lives, not only for big decisions, but for small things too. Not everything is endlessly deep and meaningful, but sometimes, things are more meaningful than we first thought.

kedybuttons I agree with Hills It's so much easier to identify something you don't want and to disassociate from it, than it is to attract something you do want.
Sometimes, I'd even go so far as to say quite a lot of the time, the things you think you want and try to attract really aren't what you thought they would be when you actually achieve that.

Sorry to hear you're feeling battered today Hills if I send you a rope ladder can you slowly lower yourself from the tree, step-by-step?

VioletCharlotte · 01/01/2021 15:48

Interesting discussion. I don't do banishing work, it doesn't quite sit right with me (this isn't to say there's anything wrong with it, it just isn't for me).

My view is that everyone who comes into our lives does so for a reason. There's something we need to learn from them, a challenge we must complete. My feeling is that if we banish them, they'll only come back at another day, in different form.

I agree with Hills that this kind of work is easier because your anger and emotion gives it power. My feeling is that it's preferable (although harder!) to focus on raising your vibration so you attract the right kind of people into your life. If you want to banish someone who is causing harm to someone close to you, instead you can help them build their strength so they do it themselves. This can be incredibly powerful.

kedybuttons · 01/01/2021 15:58

Thank you BlankTimes and Hills, how you put it makes a lot of sense. A lot easier to know what you don't want than what you (truly) do. I try my best at visualisation but can do with more practice, will look into that book.
May I also suggest a book for the scientifically inclined? Real Magic by Dean Radin. Very interesting book that explores magic empirically, enjoyed reading it.

sweetkitty · 01/01/2021 16:53

Happy New Year everyone
I too will be trying to complete 30 days with Adrienne the last two years I’ve tried and failed, one because of an accident and one through illness. Looking forward to it.

Have spent the past 6 hours taking down the Christmas decorations and thoroughly cleaning the downstairs (and having a rant at by hoarding DH - do we need 5 games consoles in the playroom? 2 of which are broken?)

I’ve also had this really anxious pessimistic feeling that I won’t be around next year to see the decorations again (must get this out my head Blush my health was not great both mentally and physically last year and I need to first concentrate on both these areas before anything else really.

HillsBesideTheSea · 01/01/2021 18:10

"My view is that everyone who comes into our lives does so for a reason. There's something we need to learn from them, a challenge we must complete. My feeling is that if we banish them, they'll only come back at another day, in different form." This is my view too ViolettCharolotte I don't do banishing work either. Life teaches hard lessons and I have found it wise to pay attention and try to learn the first time.
I have a situation that has occurred because i didn't pay attention the first time and I am having to face the lesson again atm. Not sure how to handle it atm. But it won't be a banishing, however it might be a positive working for a different situation which may then influence the issue. Or i may well just have to get a grip and deal with it in a mundane manner and have a difficult conversation. Not sure yet. Life can be tricky sometimes.

MedusasBadHairDay · 01/01/2021 18:24

I haven't done any kind of spell work since my teens (where I was sorely disappointed I couldn't change my hair like in The Craft Grin ) Joking aside it's not something that I feel drawn to, and I find I'm much more on the sceptical non-woo end of paganism. Don't get me wrong, I own some tarot decks - one used to be my mums - and I enjoy sitting and using them, but more as a meditative exercise than anything.

It's something that's always made me a feel a bit apart from other pagans/witches, I don't feel that with those of you in this thread though - which means a lot to me.

BlankTimes · 01/01/2021 19:14

Well said Violet sometimes Life lessons will be learned whether you ant to or not! Banishing can postpone it, but if it's for you, it won't go by you.

Hills I see you've discovered that too. No harm in trying to send energy to the situation for the least dramatic or most peaceful solution if that's appropriate.

Medusa there are many paths in Paganism, none are more valid or more "true" than others, you are happy on your path, that's a sign you're doing what's right for you Halloween Grin

speakout · 01/01/2021 20:18

So many interesting thoughts and ideas, such a wonderful tapestry.
I am not sure how many of us do spell work, but I don't think it is a prerequisite to a spiritual or pagan path.
I have also come to the notion that "Spellwork" with a capital S is something of a misnomer.
How do we define that even?
In my past work I was involved with some very lengthy "High" magic , where purification baths were required, special clothes worn, absolute necessity to cast a salt circle, to cleanse the space, mark out cardinal points, to incant, spells had great structure, and woe betide any step missed out or forgotten!
Different groups had different ideas.

Over the years I have come to question a great deal of that in my own practice.
Comes with my natural tendency to question authority.
Finding out which elements of "spellwork" influence manifestation- for me.
That may be different for everyone I'm sure.
Although I still do a more ritualised form of spellwork at times, mostly it is small magical acts- never a day without magic!!

Good morning sisters. I have woken up to a deepply cold morning, minus 3 here, I have slept so long and so well, my bed piled high with warm bedding, a night of deep hibernation, welcome and nurturing dreams, so feeling cozy and fuzzy as I drink my coffee.
I see Adreine's first yoga day in you tube is 48 minutes long- a surprise it would be quite so long especially as there may be new or returning yogis.
So I will curtain my time in bed and hit the yoga mat instead.

I am working today, and I have a deluge of stuff to get through, so will be a busy day.
But no cooking, no housework, so I can focus and find the flow.

I hope everyone is feeling rested and has an easy energy to start the day.
I will light a candle at 8am this morning to send nurture to all.

Pleased to hear you had a deep sleep speakout,a good night’s sleep can be such good medicine can’t it. Thank you for the 8am energy, very gratefully received. I hope your working day moves with flow and ease.

Very interesting discussion about spell work, energy and intention. I do/have done banishing work and like others don’t believe in using spells or rituals to try and ‘spiritually bypass’ life lessons or experiences I need to go through. To me, performing a spell or ritual can be part of this process and can help with feeling like I’m taking control. Finding the lessons and working through them are an important part of the work.

I agree that the energy of our intent is the key ingredient and it’s interesting how it’s often easier to find strength of intent in anger or fear. I don’t subscribe to the ‘rule of three’ but have learned that results tend to be what I need rather than what I may want at the time. I believe in accepting responsibility for the energy we project and that nothing we do is without consequence. To me, it’s part and parcel of any work.

I went to see the sea yesterday as the sun was setting. It was cold and fresh and just what I needed. I found a hagstone- the first one I’ve found round here in the 25 years I’ve lived in the area. The stones at my local beaches aren’t necessarily the type to form hagstones. I was very happy to find it, it felt like a very pertinent gift. I was given a beautiful charm recently with a hagstone that hangs at my door for protection. I’m on a theme! I’m thinking this one will be used in an active way to generate more of the energy I need for ongoing work- help with what I hope is a final push through to completion.

I hope everyone’s Saturday is getting off to a good start and that the day brings the kind of magic you need right now

Wonderful photos Aerwyna, and that hagstone has given me goosebumps- a powerful find.

I was immediately struck by the obvious female form, but I can also see many wild creatures wrapped up in the stone too.
A great deal of earth energy- I can see a field mouse, a frog, a grass snake, and more, all being held and cradled by the arms a of a woman.
It has strong energy- I hope it supports you through to completion of your project.
