Welcome to our Gratitudes for 2014! The lovely crescentmoon started last years, and we are running out of space. So, here is our 2014 thread-for little things that go well for us each day.

Any MNer can join in! From any faith, no faith, every day, once in a while, everyone is welcome!

He's had a really bad infection in his mouth, Annunziata, and been off work for a week. it's affected his ears and sinuses as well, so it's been pretty miserable in here. Add to that the fact that the kids have had horrid colds and that I have been really, really struggling and it's been all sunshine and light in here Grin

All on the mend now, thank goodness.

KinkyandGhoulishDorito · 01/11/2014 04:20

Hi all,

Came to re-find you via the philosophy/spirituality board as you slipped off my radar/active threads. So glad to find you all again my friends Thanks

Tonight am grateful for ... my half-term holiday and time with the DC and with family - plus a few interesting activities like a wander round a London art gallery, a local village firework display, and a weekend away thinking about stories with ds and other families

And then thankful that I'm going to be able to change to working mornings only with my lovely children and families in pre-school in a week or two. Can't wait for that Smile

Also DH and I getting on OK ATM - though he can still be a bit crazy at times.

Last word for ordinary nice things .. hot chocolate yesterday at the station with ds, or ATM Wine with macaroni cheese Smile

Annunziata · 02/11/2014 20:30

Lovely family
Mince pies (shhh)
A stolen hour with a new crochet project Smile

stressedHEmum · 03/11/2014 10:04

Hello, Howto, I hope you are OK and things are a bit better today.

Juggling, I'm so glad you're back and that things are a bit better.

It's been a tough couple of weeks, Annunziata, but things are settling down a bit now. Colds are still hanging around and Dh's mouth is still sore, but nothing like it was. He's back at work this week, so let's hope the infection is gone. he's back at the dentist on the 10th to have it checked out, so we will find out what's happening then.

gratitudes -
sunshine
a warm, dry house
hot tea
DS3 seems to be settled at college now

KinkyDorito · 04/11/2014 06:28

Gratitudes:

Settling back into the daily routine
Cuddles with DS on the sofa
Heating, lighting, running water, food

stressedHEmum · 05/11/2014 08:00

a couple of dry days for drying washing
foodbank has plenty of stuff because we are really, really busy just now
healthy children - colds are almost gone
food, water, safety, shelter

KinkyDorito · 06/11/2014 07:08

foodbank has plenty of stuff because we are really, really busy just now makes me so Sad. Our local supermarket seems to have a sporadic collection point - sometimes it is there, more often it is not. It's frustrating as I would readily do an extra shop for it.

I've got an infectious child who is currently not allowed at school so unplanned days off for me and DH who have to alternate care for him.

My gratitudes:

antibiotics - may they cure DS swiftly
crochet - I have found my old friend
a warm home and a bed every night

JugglingFromHereToThere · 06/11/2014 21:06

Lovely to read others gratitudes here (and thanks for the welcome back) ....

I can mainly muster one for this evening -
Friday tomorrow!

  • It's been a long, busy week.

But then that reminds me that next week should be easier due to some changes at work.
And of course if I try a bit harder there is much else to be thankful for as well.

Feeling tired though.
Glad of friends, including on this thread. (I do have RL ones too!)

A warm home and a bed every night is a good one KinkyD - I think mine beckons quite soon Smile

Annunziata · 07/11/2014 17:31

We have had the winter vomiting virus here all week too :(

gratitudes
the John Lewis advert
cuddles
warm beds, definitely

OP posts:
stressedHEmum · 09/11/2014 08:39

I saw the JL advert on Friday, it was lovely, brought a smile to my face.

I know what you mean about the foodbank thing, kinky. I never know whether to be grateful or just really sad. It's an outrage that they are needed in this day and age, but at least there is somewhere for people to go when they are in terrible crisis. Our foodbank is giving out about 120 boxes a week now and my wee hub fed 12 people this week alone during the 6 short hours that we were open. It would make you weep, especially when you think that nearly half of all the mouths that we feed are childrenSad

gratitudes -
successful messy church on Friday
warm, snuggly children - when I can persuade them to give their mum a cuddle
jewellery making demo that I did for the Guild on Friday went really well - the old dears seemed to enjoy it,
food, clean water, safety and shelter
hot tea and hot baths

KinkyDorito · 09/11/2014 12:59

Hello all.

I hope everyone is back to full health now - seems to have been a week of lurgy!

Stressed Sad Sad. It sounds like you are doing a wonderful job trying to help though. Thanks

  • Sunday lunch on the way (I'm having a crafty MN whilst things cook)
  • sofa time this afternoon
  • a hot bath
  • family and laughter this weekend. We are blessed. Smile

A peaceful, restful Sunday to all.

JugglingFromHereToThere · 09/11/2014 15:40

Thanks for the good wishes KD - yes, have been having quite a restful Sunday here Thanks ....

ds and I had a lovely morning at our Quaker Meeting today.
We have a special Children's Meeting once a month and ds asked yesterday if this would be happening today and if we could go - which was lovely for me to see how much he values it. They have a very nice morning there meeting up with friends and with lots of time to play in the big garden, as well as a bit of learning focus - we planted some poppies today and talked about the Friends Ambulance Service amongst other related things.

dd has been revising for mocks which start tomorrow. Hope the relative calm of today lasts through the next 2 weeks!
