Old thread here

Welcome to our Gratitudes for 2014! The lovely crescentmoon started last years, and we are running out of space. So, here is our 2014 thread-for little things that go well for us each day.

Any MNer can join in! From any faith, no faith, every day, once in a while, everyone is welcome!

I am grateful for
a New Year and new starts
all my grown up DC having a good time at parties and returning home safely
a warm bath and a glass of wine

Hello kinky, and welcome to our thread. I hope things start getting better soon!

It's so hard to pin them all down, isn't it, stressed? It's like that whackamole game almost in our house, one comes in and another goes out Grin

crescent I was thinking of you today, our homily in Mass was about feasts and fasts and how we always think of a feast as a way of celebrating God but a fast is a way of celebrating him too. It was so thought provoking and quite lovely.

gratitudes
strawberries
some late sunshine
ice cream!

(and there was me talking about fasting...)

Today:

The funny things my DS says to me
My DD getting back into school after an awful cold (post chemo, always picks up nasty bugs)
An unexpected earlier finish at work, so home at a decent time

KinkyDorito · 29/09/2014 18:33

thanks Annunziata Thanks

KinkyDorito · 29/09/2014 18:34

Might have a long bath and add that one too Smile.

I love a quiet minute and hot water.

Annunziata · 29/09/2014 19:29

A hot bath is one of my favourite things too, kinky. I especially loved it when my kids were wee, I didn't get much time to myself.

How old is your DD? Horrible, horrible chemo. It's very unfair. I hope she gets over her cold soon.

Gratitudes
A lovely September holiday
Weddings
My family

A very long day, and a tough one, at work - only just home.

I am grateful for:
My lovely DH making me a cup of tea just now.
My DS being all smiles and happy to see me.
Watching the guinea pig dig out his cucumber from the bottom of his greens bowl in all his floppy-eared excitement. It is something to behold. Grin

stressedHEmum · 01/10/2014 10:51

Your poor DD, kinky, i hope that she feels better soon. If you don't mind, I will remember you all in my prayersFlowers it must be very hard for you and the rest of the family as well.

Whack a mole is just about right, Annunziata. With DS1 and 2 living away now and DS3 being almost invisible - he's at the eating and sleeping only at home - it's really hard to get them all together, although that's sometimes a good thing!

gratitudes -
DS1 and 2 and DS1's partner all safely back to their respective places
got washing dried yesterday before the rain (can't believe the weather for the 1st of October)
my wee foodbank has been able to feed 10 people already this week - never know if that's something to be grateful for or not.
this time of harvest and God's gifts to the world

KinkyDorito · 01/10/2014 19:20

Thanks stressed. She's been off treatment a while, thankfully.

My gratitudes today are harder as it's been a bit rotten but:

Comfort tea of smoked haddock fishcakes. Yum.
Next door prompting me to sort out the roof - I never get round to doing things without some direction Grin
Cuddles with DS who says that's what I'm here for Smile
DD doing some exercise independently, which is quite a big deal.

Writing has made me smile. I needed that!

Annunziata · 02/10/2014 17:56

Mummies are definitely made for cuddles :) I hope your day is getting better.

gratitudes
DC all settling in well at uni/nursery
DS going on another driving lesson, which he was worried about
cuddles

OP posts:
KinkyDorito · 02/10/2014 18:57

Struggling again today - it's been a right week!

Grateful for:

the fact we only have one more day at work before the weekend Grin
an early night tonight
DH being here when I got in this afternoon (although not so grateful it was because he'd been to A&E with a comically swollen hand from a bite. Hoping that goes down overnight.)

KinkyDorito · 04/10/2014 09:34

Had an awful day yesterday - it's been a right week!

I'm grateful for:

the weekend
whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger
a rainy day today that will be spend inside, catching up with work and hopefully some crochet
Lots of DS cuddles again

stressedHEmum · 04/10/2014 10:48

Oh, Kinky, I hope that next week is better for you and that this one has indeed made you stronger Flowers Poor DH, was it a spider bite? Someone I know has one of those on her neck and it's a total mess. The spiders are so big and fierce this year. I found one when I was cleaning the church yesterday which was almost as big as my hand (shudder).

gratitudes -
sunshine after the rain
24 kids at messy church last night - it gets busier every month, praise God
food, water, safety and shelter
that we live in a relatively stable country, ruled by law and not fear or violence
access to good healthcare and hospitals

Annunziata · 04/10/2014 11:17

At least it is nearly over Kinky and I really hope next week is better for you all.

gratitudes
music
being able to laugh

OP posts:
KinkyDorito · 05/10/2014 19:30

I am feeling grateful for:

a new week with, hopefully, a fresh start
my lovely DH
lazy time watching rubbish telly and doing not very much for a couple of hours

stressedHEmum · 06/10/2014 07:32

shelter
warm jumpers and fluffy socks
homemade soup

KinkyDorito · 07/10/2014 07:02

Yesterday:

time to relax in the evening for a change
apple pancakes made by DD for pudding
my duvet

stressedHEmum · 07/10/2014 08:40

autumn sunshine
the generosity of people donating to my foodbank
the smell of hot fruit tea
a warm bed

KinkyDorito · 07/10/2014 08:51

autumn sunshine you are very lucky stressed, nothing apart from fog here! It is autumnal though Smile.

nicename · 07/10/2014 08:59

I am grateful for the bright day after that dreadful storm at silly o'clock this morning. The air is fresh and clean and the sky is bright.

I am grateful that DH has an interview after all this time, and pray that it goes well.

I pray for brave men and women around the world standing up for and fighting those who murder, enslave, rape and terrify. I pray for good to prevail. I pray for the victims. Sorry but I can't pray for those responsible.

I am grateful that my family is safe.

I am grateful for the genuine fellowship that can be found on this site. The advice, cheering on, shoulder to cry on, someone to laugh with... It can be a lonely old place, the real world!

Also that I have change in my pocket to buy a croissant on my way to work as breakfast was missed in the rediculously early start this morning!

nicename · 07/10/2014 09:01

Why am I snorking on the bus like a ninny? Oh dear...

Annunziata · 07/10/2014 21:08

We had the dreadful fog too. DD was standing at the window saying 'all gone mamma, all gone!' Grin

Hello nicename!

gratitudes
light
warmth
God

OP posts:
KinkyDorito · 08/10/2014 06:14

big cups of tea
daft cats
twenty minutes to myself each morning before I get everyone else up

nicename · 08/10/2014 09:42

Autumn. I really like autumn.

stressedHEmum · 08/10/2014 09:59

it was foggy here yesterday morning early on, but it burned off nicelyGrin We had a beautiful day, there was still some good warmth in the sun, too. Not so nice, today, though.

Hello, nicename, hope your DH's interview went well and that he gets a positive result. I love croissants!

gratitudes -
lots of lovely sunny washing yesterday
birdsong
prayer
painkillers (I very stupidly fell down the stairs on Monday evening and I'm a bit more sore than usual nowBlush)

KinkyDorito · 08/10/2014 18:46

Today's (actually on time for once):

Tea bags (we'd run out)
Crusty white bread and butter (my soul is more grateful than my hips)
Being told I am fantastic at work Smile. Makes it worthwhile, especially after last week.
