What's the best pet name you've come across?

I'm partial to pets with very beige, mid-century human names like Colin, Dave, Alan, Brenda, Sandra, Deidre.

A lady I worked with once rescued a really vicious parrot and renamed him Thomas-a-Peckitt.

I've just got back from a dog walk where we met a giant, perfectly rounded, sandy coloured staffy called King Edward to reflect the fact he's basically a potato.

I can't stop smiling. I had to share it with someone.

I came across, Paul the Poodle and Simon the Springer (lived in the same household) they also had a Persian cat called Pearl

This whole thread is brilliant but this one is my favourite so far!

A cat named Mrs Whittingham The Third, there was no 1 and 2, but they loved standing on the doorstep at night saying, "Mrs Whittingham" and the new neighbours having a smoke at the front door thought they had lost an elderly relative. I think they were expecting a woman in her nightie wandering the streets.

To be fair the cat was like a posh old lady from being young. They had a water fountain drinking thing because she liked running water. That cat had attitude but in a good way.

Doberman dog called Bask - hound of the Baskervilles, soppy thing but also guard dog, my auntie and uncle’s dog. White cat called Pookie Snowball.

I have a cat called Jeff. We love his name. If I were ever to get another cat it needs to be a ginger one and he will be named Chicken Nugget.

I knew a dog called Defer, D for dog.

My brother’s friend’s Alsatian was called Rufus.

An acquaintance has a terrier called Phil, he’s great.

"Mr Pickwick", the cat, lived to about 19. When he passed on, his owner got another cat and called her "Betsy Trotwood". She didn't live quite so long.

My parents had a cat called Catiswood. Totally random but very much my mother's style.

I met a dachshund named Sausage.
I had a gerbil called Mouse. I used to say to the cat "leave the mouse alone" and it sort of stuck.
When married we lived with my husband's grandmother who had a cat called Socks. We inherited a hamster and called him Shoes.
Cats Barnaby and Troy named after characters in Midsomer Murders.

My current cat is called Haribo. Both me and my partner love Tangfastics but that was a bit of a mouthful to say. He is a rather squidgy, sweet cat who doesn't look at all sour.

A friend of mine has a dog called Siri.

Her recall cue is Hey, Siri.

I’ve known cats called Alan and Colin which are fine names. My favourite pet name though was a chihuahua my BIL was looking after once, called Jimmy Knuckles.

Ahhh my cat is called Branston he gets a lot of compliments on it

My very handsome Labrador is called George Michael

There’s a daschund walked in our local park called Trevor which I think is awesome.

And a friend of mine had a cat called Gary.

I too like human names for animals.

Growing up neighbours had a cat called Mavis Beacon.

Their replacement cat was called Maeve Grohl (Foo Fighters fans).

Friends let her kids name their pets and they have a dog called Doggy.

Our local pub has a poodle called Dave

my dog came with the name buddy but I call him budlar (aka gavlar)

and my other dog I tend to call booby

both respond better to their nicknames better than their actual names

My previous car was a beetle I named Jeremy
