What's the best pet name you've come across?

I'm partial to pets with very beige, mid-century human names like Colin, Dave, Alan, Brenda, Sandra, Deidre.

A lady I worked with once rescued a really vicious parrot and renamed him Thomas-a-Peckitt.

I've just got back from a dog walk where we met a giant, perfectly rounded, sandy coloured staffy called King Edward to reflect the fact he's basically a potato.

I can't stop smiling. I had to share it with someone.

Hopped on to an old username in case anyone recognise this from real life but 40+ years ago we knew a couple with two spaniels called Joe and Pearl.

Joe Cocker and Pearl's a springer.

A dog called Elizabeth Taylor

We had 4 goldfish: Salt, Pepper, Vinegar & Cheese. They got their names because I made a joke to DC about not liking S&V with their Fish & chips. 2 are still alive in FIL pond...

my dad brought home a new kitten probably 52 years ago, my brother and I were so excited! Dad wanted to call him Fatso-Catso 😵 so my mum said eeerrr let’s let the kids chose … we picked Custard (Rubarb and Custard days …. The original version)!
I’ve met a couple of greyhounds called Mr noodles … two different dogs, two different counties … that’s such a good name 🤣

Wasn't there a dog called that in Sex and The City

My friend had a cat called Mr Pilchard and my DD has a giant shrimp called Mr Sticks. I also had two sister cats called Purdy and Pam Pockets. All my Cats have surnames for some unknown reason (started by my Mother for again, unknown reasons). My friend also had two cats called Mel and Kim, which rather ages us.

I can't remember where I read this but someone had an Afghan hound called Malibu Barbie! 😂

I had a goldfish called Jaws when I was a kid, and I used to ride a horse with large ears called, unsurprisingly, Ears.

At one time or another I have come across - a white cat called Sooty, a dog who rejoiced in the name Lizzie Dripping, a chihuahua called Bonsai and a mouse named Stinky.

If anyone happens to have ever used their pet's name as a password or security confirmation anywhere, maybe don't post it on here. 😁

My brother had a gerbil called Sid Vicious.

A friend called their dog MacDuff so they could say "Lead on, MacDuff" when they got him ready for walks.

(I know the quote is actually "Lay on, MacDuff" just as it's "A little learning etc" and "All that glisters..." but didn't have the heart to mention it. And it worked pretty well)

Also knew of two cats called Big Puss and Small One, abbreviated to B.P. and S.O. (Esso).

My dogs Kennel Club name is King Edward, his brother is King William….their breeder was a fan of a certain green HGV company.
When I was younger our Staffs was named Brutus-Maximus. He would answer to none of them so we had to settle on Max

In the Archers they have just introduced a breeding pair of beavers to the rewilding area. They are called Sigourney (Beaver) and Justin (Beaver). Inspired.

We pinched a cat name from Bedknobs & Broomsticks because we had a black cat & black cats are traditionally witches' cats. So we named her after Angela Lansbury's cat and called her Cosmic Creepers.

Also one of the cats we adopted was called Bongo. No idea why.

My Husbands dog was a Jarvis (cocker) years ago, before we met.

A horse called squirrel.

Guinea pigs called piggie smalls and pig daddy Kane.

These are great! I know a family who had a tortoise called Teresa and a dog called Phillip 😂

There’s a pug with an insta account called Puggie Smalls 🤣
