Sick of these XL bully owners

I’m just so tired not of these dogs, but the people that are attracted to them and how they behave.

My local area of Liverpool has loads of these dogs and most recently a lady got mauled to death by 5 of them that were kept in a house together. Literally round the corner.

Why aren't measures taken to prevent the unsavoury breeding and sale of these dogs, which clearly have no regard for the welfare of the animals or the safety of people? It is obvious that the average person is completely unable to guarantee that their dog won't harm members of the public.

Examples:

Neighbour who keeps two XL bullies in their apartment and has a one-year-old child. However, it's okay because they are only permitted in the kitchen. Dogs undoubtedly enjoy it, I’m sure. Don’t know what the father is thinking leaving his girlfriend and baby at home alone with two of those dogs, they’re absolutely huge.

A tiny woman who lives across the street has now made the decision to purchase one. He "stays by her side" as she very proudly walks him without a lead. The dog has jumped on me; he's still only a puppy but is already very strong. She appears to enjoy the attention the dog attracts and is proud of herself for walking the dog outside without a leash. My child was knocked over by the dog after it jumped on her. Once more, the woman believes it's all in good fun. There is no way the dog, who is only a few months old, will be able to be handled by her.

Another family on our street has two dogs, but neither of them can walk or breathe normally without stumbling. Both of the "hard" guys—father and son, I think—are exerting real effort and are literally being dragged by these dogs.

It is ridiculous. Moreover, I dread them.

They appear to believe that by frightening off onlookers, these dogs will offer them protection. The number of fatalities these dogs have produced and the fact that the same moron keeps purchasing them. I don't understand the hype because they aren't inexpensive either.

The owners love to have them off lead and then claim that "they are harmless," so i'm not being ridiculous.

Please tell me it’s not just be sick to death of this?

I had a look of Facebook as I don’t know much about these dogs. This video was very stressful to watch - huge dog being grabbed and pulled by a child, whose mother is laughing and cooing over it. m.facebook.com/groups/322980482270214/permalink/622756318959294/

That video is really troubling. I wouldn't let my child treat a chihuahua like that. I'm not a dog expert by any means but even I can clearly see that that dog's not happy being pulled about like that. Obviously the child shouldn't be doing that to any dog (not blaming the child, it's the parents' fault) but in this case when the dog finally snaps it could easily kill the child.

caramac04 · 16/10/2022 14:53

That video is troubling. The dog is clearly trying to move away but nobody is acknowledging that. The child is then on the floor in a submissive position and can easily be interpreted as prey. This is true of any dog but as has already been posted, this breed does not give off the usual signals before attacking. Had that dog attacked the adult would not have saved the child from serious injury or death. Also, the other dog would likely have joined in an attack which I think would mean certain death.
I absolutely adore dogs, have a Staffie and a German Shepherd but I am firmly in charge, know my dogs behaviour and have taught my DC and DGC to respect dogs. I have trained them to never guard food or resources and can take anything from them.
Some owners have absolutely no idea and are putting lives at risk.

Changechangychange · 16/10/2022 14:58

Christ almighty that video is terrifying - that little kid hanging off the dog’s neck (who is clearly unhappy about it and trying to get away) with his neck right below the dogs teeth. If the dog snaps at him to get away, it will bite his throat just by sheer proximity - wouldn’t take more than a single warning bite to potentially kill him.

My Goodness-
That dog is absolutely pissed off , and the high pitched squealing child all over it is just asking to be killed when the dog has had enough.
Cretin 🧲 magnets.
Stupid, stupid mother.

The Kid is all over that dog in an initially “ Dominant “ position, squealing like prey ( high pitched ) and then is rolling around under the dog’s jaws again like prey-
One snap- That child ‘s face would be like a tennis ball in that dog’s maw.
Plus the idiot fawning mother had two of these dogs.
Kid wouldn’t stand a chance.

“Don’t worry she’s harmless”

The dog looks like it’s got something wrong with it?
They never have intelligent looking eyes.
They appeal to the most dunderheaded of owners.

FreshCop · 16/10/2022 19:05

This is why I have a toy breed, I know I can overpower him, there’s a limit to how much damage he can do and my DC can walk him and overpower him too.

He’s still a dog with feelings and will growl and snap back if he hasn’t been treated kindly. So the kids know to have kind hands with him.

He will always give a warning before he snaps, don’t know if these dogs do.

I think it’s the mother that is lacking in intelligence here. Closely followed by her offspring. Why are children maniacs these days. I grew up with dogs, never once did I do that to one.

The dog is being very well behaved.

A little dog was killed by 2 of these monsters in our local park. It was horrific. The bullies were on leads but the owner couldn't restrain them.
Once they had the scent of blood there was no stopping them. I didn't see it happen thankfully but we all knew the little dog.
I am terrified taking my little dog to the park now. I have a K9 spray off the internet which I carry with me. If I see any big dogs in the distance then I'll make a sharp exit and go elsewhere.
Being on a lead means nothing to these dogs.

FreshCop · 26/10/2022 13:43

I think what’s so upsetting too is that I’m unable to simply enjoy the park now without constantly watching our backs.

Saw 3 the other day, one of them a man was riding one of those small scrambler bikes (I think) and had an XL bully off the lead running after him all over the park.

it also came over to me and my child and he kept calling it over and it wouldn’t go, luckily eventually listened.

it was huge. I just don’t understand why these people do this, and it’s not like you can confront them out of fear the dog may attack you at any slightest gesture.

Another man with an American bulldog off the lead and it’s barking, and the owner is coming over for a chat, laughing, not thinking whether you’re scared or not.

Closed the gate to the playground but I know they could jump over.

I’m considering travelling to the promenade or something to let the dog have a play but I can’t do that every day.

Some countries have dog parks and parks where dogs are banned. Surely they should give those of us with children a choice?

All dogs should be on leads nowadays.

Yes I am sick of the xl bully being discriminated against!!!

Xl bully are amazing ,loving and great family if they have good responsible owners.
It's irresponsible owners who didn't have a clue they are to blame.
So sick of people literally pushing for the murder of these poor dogs.
License and owners and breeders make training mandatory and stop idiots who see them as a status simple ownering any dog!!!!

GrazingSheep · 13/09/2023 17:56

How do you propose to do that?

Xlbullymum87 · 14/09/2023 06:06

It wouldn't be easy but it's definitely possible to roll out, they could start but making breeding any dog illegal for a year and any dog over 20kg has to mandatory for them to be on lead and muzzled in public until they roll it all out .
I'm Germany every dog over 20kg has to have a temperament test and give a licence.
I'm here with my beautiful, kind, loving and extremely well natured xl bully , who is well trained, loved and cared for and is so gentle why does she have to be put to death just because some irresponsible owners out there.
It's definitely not the breed that's bad it's who owns them that's the problem

I had to defend my own 10 kg dog against one of these monsters.
I am injured from it.

It's female owner appeared frightened of her own shitty hippo.

There are pet owners and parents who are genuinely afraid for their children and well mannered pets.

These are thug dogs, bred to be aggressive to other animals and are human aggressive.

I wish we could have proper self~ protection against these abominations as they do in some States in USA.

It IS the breed. {or cross, in this case}

Greyhounds are hardwired to chase.
Border collies are hardwired to herd.
German Shepherds are hardwired to guard.
Spaniels are hardwired to sniff and flush game

XL Bullies are bred from Pit Bulls and larger mastiff types Hardwired to be dog aggressive and aggressive towards larger animals. {and now, people}

Aggression to other dogs and to people IS hardwired into their DNA.

Bully watch have traced the DNA of many and they are inbred massively not like normal dogs, in that they don't recognise ''Appeasement signals'' from other dogs and are hair-trigger aggressive.

caramac04 · 14/09/2023 09:32

I agree with @oakleaffy , breed does make a difference. We have, over generations, bred dogs for specific purposes and we all recognise certain breeds have certain traits.
We have working dogs and companion dogs and most are wonderful imo.
The xl bullies are a dysfunctional breed I think because far too frequently the owners cannot control them. Out of control their aggressive behaviour is unacceptable.
I cannot see a legitimate purpose to breed such strong dogs with aggressive traits.

bunnygeek · 14/09/2023 10:22

Pit Bull types were banned in the UK 32 years ago. Not allowed to breed or sell them. And yet, there's over 3,000 legally registered today, and will be plenty more flying under the radar.

This is why a ban won't work. They don't work. Something else has to change.

Xlbullymum87 · 14/09/2023 10:59

Your all idiot,

So if a person murders someone, we should kill that person's family and anyone that looks like them.
Bully watch is against the bully so it's not a exactly gonna be fair to the bully.
All these dog experts that have years of experience must be wrong and you muppets much be right 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Statistics speak for themselves.
Coefficients of severe
inbreeding are genetically provable.
XL Bull lovers have been mauled to death by their own dog.

They are dog and other animal and human aggressive.

No sane or rational person needs one, they have them to try to intimidate people, and for no other reason.

Not seen one yet that is well trained and obedient.

They usually pull free of their owner and run riot.

Aggression is in their DNA, just as intelligence and herding is in a Border Collie.

Border Collies don’t make good pets for the average person because of their need to be mentally and physically active, but a Border Collie is unlikely to go mad on people.

An XL B killed 22 sheep and had to be shot dead recently.

They are just a menace.
Neither use nor ornament.

Xlbullymum87 · 14/09/2023 13:12

My pup is extremely well trained, because she is give a loving home and rewarded for her great behaviour. Everyone who meets my girl comments on how well behaved and gentle she is.

I witnessed a large amount of domestic violence when I was a child and statistics say I'm highly likely to be in a domestically violent relationship but I'm not. I was raised around violence and statistics say I am more likely to be violent but Im not a violent person. so statistics mean nothing.
Any dog can be aggressive in the wrong hands ,
Hatred for a breed just because of what you have read in the paper is stupid.

I have a 9yr old daughter who can simply ask my xl bully to sit lay down , roll over. Give paw and wait and she does it every time without fail.
We didn't choose an xl bully she came to us needing a home and we took her in with our little bichon.
My dog has been bitten in the face by a jack Russell, and didn't retaliate, She's been pinned down by a German shepherd who own had to drag him off her and she didn't retaliate.

I've worked with dogs all my life and have been bitten by a small dogs only
I'm not going to keep trying to defend xl bully's to people who are stupid so ill not be replying anymore.

Xlbullymum87 · 14/09/2023 13:13

Yes you are stupid
