Can I draw your attention to this please ?
A village of 400 people in Oxfordshire, the government want to house 1200 migrants in an old RAF barracks nearby. No consultation and no infrastructure to support.
Before anyone accuses me of being racist, my family make up negates that.

There was some research that came out a few years ago that showed rates of sexual offending in Afghan males in the UK was something like 15 times higher than that of British nationals.

Meanwhile Afghani women and girls are stuck back there being raped, abused, killed…

Somewhere along the line, we’ve ended up with things the wrong way round.

That research has been debunked. By Sky (not exactly a bastion of leftism) and others.

There is no denying that some asylum seekers have committed horrible crimes. But posting false information helps no-one.

But why should we have to work out where they came from? Why do they hide where they are from? Why do many of them ‘dispose’ of documents? Why do many of them
lie about how old they are and where they are from? If they have a genuine claim of asylum why go to these lengths.

Because, astonishingly enough, if you just turn up to any old country with a plane full of asylum seekers who say they do not come from there, that country will tell you to fuck right off. You wouldn't be permitted to de-plane or possibly even land the plane.

Apologies if mentioned already;

To ‘send them back’ you can’t send them back if you don’t know where they came from.

I’m not saying that we should welcome them with open arms or that they are genuinely running from war, but that it’s not as simple as someone turning up and then putting them on a plane (who is paying for that?) back some random other country.

My point was if they were genuine asylum seekers they would be open about where they are from, why do they lie? I read about a case where a man stated he was from a particular region of a country in Africa, an
interpreter was found who spoke the language from that area, he didn’t understand them, he was from
somewhere else. Why lie? Probably because he wasn’t a genuine asylum seeker, just another economic refugee.

Labour is not my party.

Conservative Government opened two ex miltary sites, starting in 2020. It was Braverman who first introduced it and if you look at social media, it was widely lauded as a great thing by those who were against the hotels.

If you want to play politics in your debate, its a good idea to have some real facts at your fingertips.

Labour did not run on we’re opening barracks. They ran on smash the gangs, so if you’re going to announce people asked for barracks best to check recent events.

This is why, against the wishes of the EU, the Spanish government is moving 500 women and girls from Cueta to mainland Spain. Their male fellow "refugees" have been dragging them into the hills and gang raping them.

Stop pussy footing around and send them back where they came from ffs.

Send them back where ? Passports are thrown in the sea.

There’s some pretty unsavoury attitudes to women in the military, too. Soz to burst your bubble, but they’re all much of a muchness. It’s fair to ask questions about how moving in a load of people will affect the people already there, but giving squaddies a free pass is incredibly naive.

I would happily live next door to an actual army barracks.

Hoardasurass · 21/08/2026 12:36

Every single uk embassy is UK soil and asylum can be claimed there.
Back to my earlier point if they are genuine asylum seekers where are the women and children?
Why didn't they stop in the 1st safe country.
Why come to the uk with a completely alien culture and language that you don't speak instead of one that has the same culture and language as your home country?
They are at best economic migrants and should be sent back immediately.
The worst thing labour did was repealed the law that the tories brought in that removed their right to claim asylum

Have you got a source confirming that it is possible to claim asylum at a UK embassy, please?

Everything I've been able to find says the opposite.

'my family make up negates that.'- can you elaborate on this?

Womanofcustard · 21/08/2026 13:30

Interesting that the people of Piddington voted for a Liberal MP who used to support ‘open borders’.
They’ve all changed their minds now faced with the reality!

BoredZelda · 21/08/2026 13:30

EasternStandard · 21/08/2026 13:22

That 50% is mostly family reunification which Labour will lower.

Not quite accurate. The automatic right to bring family has been replaced with a stricter set of requirements. It’s more difficult but not impossible to bring family here. The other avenue is for someone who has been given asylum to get the paperwork required to allow the family to come here under their own asylum claim. For example, there is no way for anyone in Afghanistan to go to a U.K. embassy and get a travel visa. But someone who is in a country with an embassy can do it for their family. They can come here and claim asylum when they arrive.

Seriously?
You cannot see a difference??

Well there is a difference to the race/nationality of the people. But either way it'll be young men. So if there's an objection to young men because they're foreign then that could be construed as racist.

Weeellokthen · 21/08/2026 13:30

I would definately be a nimby

So why are the police so coy when it comes to releasing ethnic minority stats for those who commit these crimes? I think we all know.

Young men from counties with a much much higher rate of sexual assaults than in the UK? And you’re not concerned? Are you for real?

Ok Labour is missing a trick. There are a few who are keen still on barracks nearby.

JudgeJ · 21/08/2026 13:32

MildlyMoist · 21/08/2026 11:35

Surely the village managed fine when the barracks was in use by the military? What’s the difference? RAF bases have their own infrastructure. Your sewage system, roads etc will be no more affected than they were then.

PS it’s perfectly possible to be racist even if you have family from an ethnic minority background.

You really can't understand the difference or are you just pretending to be obtuse to be seen to have the correct opinion?

Paganpentacle · 21/08/2026 13:33

OneFunBrickNewt · 21/08/2026 12:54

Just more racist nimbys, the worst combination of Daily Mail readers.

tell us where your back yard is then ... seeing as you're happy to host.

Laiste · 21/08/2026 13:33

Put them there but keep them locked up on site. Surely not so hard to do?

The majority of people in this country don't want them here.

Datafan55 · 21/08/2026 13:34

MaggieBsBoat · 21/08/2026 12:47

Do one.
You are absolutely racist. You disgust me.
We live less than 1km from an army base that is now used to house refugees and zero issues. There is security and there is limited movement for them but they’ve put in play parks for the kids. Built a lovely kindergarten and language centre. It is good user of what was an empty site.

And you're traitorously naive and putting people at risk.

These will be 1200 single MALES only, for a start. No need for a play park as no kids. What or who do you think they'll be playing with? Suggest you check out footage/reports from Crowborough/Weatherfield/Bell hotel in Epping etc where they're hanging around shop/car parks and hassling girls on the way to school. Look up sex offence rates per nationality. And ask yourself why the Ministry of Justice is actively seeking to hide UK crime rates per nationality.

It's not racist to acknowledge that many of these strong, young men, there alone and just men/no women folk with them, will be from medieval cultures where men are taught that women are second class, white women/children playthings, and sex with 13 year olds is normal.
