AIBU to Hope that disposable barbecues are banned

I live in an area where we have had wildfires caused by a disposable barbecue. It has been devastating to the wildlife not to mention the danger and unpleasantness for the firefighters and residents. You can get great folding ones that almost fold flat now, in camping shops, they're great for marshmallow fun and a few sausages.

I've just seen this on Instagram from Derbyshire Fire Service. There is no hope.

How about this for ultimate fuckwittery, probably a camping stove though same principle, any cooking stoves were banned from this event.

It’s a terrible time for the camping community currently. Many sites banning cooking stoves of many types when that’s people’s only way to cook but not offering refunds to people.

Just telling them no cooking buy from over priced vendors. I expect more of this to happen as it continues to get dryer.

You can’t charge people to camp and allow them no way to cook food and no option to cancel with a refund.

Banned for a very good reason - obviously. Those idiots destroyed the farm they were camping on but as long as they got to eat some sausage that’s the main thing hey ?

Oh no I 100% get it. It’s far too dry for bbqs and fires. But you cannot book in campers with no electric hook up and then ban gas stoves unless your willing to 100% refund those bookings.

They book being able to cook themselves food to remove that availability should give full refunds.

Not sure on that exact site but I mean in general as I’ve seen sites banning bbqs that don’t offer hook up if they also banned gas nobody could cook at all.

Another one. There is no excuse. No entitlement to barbecued sausages.

@Tableforjoan this was a small local festival though, it’s not a site with hook ups and they had food vans, these idiots lit the stove inside the tent. Just unbelievable. If the fire service hadn’t been so quick and efficient the whole Heath would have caught fire and it’s a massive area of the Purbecks with lots of rare flora and fauna.

Any camper knows using a stove inside a tent is bloody stupid. CO poisioning, fire etc, without the added complicationof dry weather.

i guess they didn’t want to be busted using the stove outside as they were banned. 🤦🏻‍♀️ probably not experienced campers either, the event was a small festival

I've never understood the attraction of BBQs. I think women like it because it's the one time their menfolk will do some cooking.
