Indeed - the man (Blair) who pushed for ID cards some years back is father to the founder of the company that is favoured / selected, I'm sure it will be all open and above board, no favouritism there of course, and there's no risk of anything going wrong, like our data* being sold.
*for those who think ID cards are a good thing, try and imagine what your phone is capturing every minute and will be passing to the Government, where you shop, where you go, how fast you get there etc. etc. How long before the initial "well it's only to stop immigration / black market etc." becomes "well you only need to scan your id to use a bus" and "sorry, you spoke out about Tier Starmer, can't travel on the bus today"
I'll happily be proved wrong in the above - but I'm not willing to risk that I may be right, it's our kids and their kids and .. that will start to live under the full control of the Government, and once they get control, it will be very hard to take it away. Too late to say "oh dear, I didn't think they'd actually do that"
