Your details remain private, I don't want to start yet another trans thread but I thnk we can all agree that there needs to be more discussion with the people affected by the changes in law!

I found out the other day by reading Twitter that very many Transactivists hate those who are quietly, 'passing' transsexuals as much as they hate biological women. How dare they make genuine transsexuals' lives, and women's lives, even more difficult? Who put a tiny number of aggressive TRAs in charge of gender theory, in charge of women's spaces? Fuck that shit.

I've signed. It's asking for consultation with women. About time too. I think my male OH is likely to want to sign it too.

MrsBodger · 12/03/2018 18:54

Well done OP

SuitedandBooted · 12/03/2018 18:55

To the Mumsnetters who think self-ID won't happen because it is so evidently mad ( and the powers that be won't let it),

Please look up:

"Women" are now anything men say they are.

Worked for a certain W. Churchill and his "fighting on the beaches" speech, too Smile

As to this:

I wish MN would rethink their policy and have an anti-trans forum so those with a real issue with trans people...

I have NO issue with trans people. I am not anti-trans and I’m offended by the suggestion. I wouldn’t post on such a board.

I am pro-equality for all. Gender neutral spaces, sex segregated spaces, gender neutral sports categories, sex segregated sports categories.

I’ve no idea why people think women’s rights (50% of the population, pretty much) are so secondary that they can be sacrificed on the altar of paying lip service to a minority of the population who don’t want to inconvenience themselves by getting recognition for their medical condition.

MrsFogi · 12/03/2018 19:09

I've signed it - I think it's important that an issue with potentially far-reaching and long-lasting consequences be debated in a sensible, open way. At the moment I am very worried about how free speech seems to have suffered in relation to the trans issue with many women not feeling they can discuss the issue openly in their own name - there is something wrong when this is the case.

Fairenuff · 12/03/2018 19:13

Signed. Thanks so much for this OP. I cannot see why anyone would object to women being consulted on these issues that so massively affect them.

LangCleg · 12/03/2018 19:13

Blindingly obvious that women should have as much input as trans people into laws that will include trans people in protections, spaces and services currently restricted to women. These are women's rights, for heavens sakes. If women aren't properly consulted, then any laws emerging will be illegitimate.

IFancyASliceOfCake · 12/03/2018 19:19

Signed! And thank you OP for bringing this WOMENS RIGHTS issue to our attention Flowers

BeUpStanding · 12/03/2018 19:21

I find it totally baffling how some people think it's controversial to ask for a public debate and for women to be consulted on proposed changes to the law Confused

Nosetothesun · 12/03/2018 19:22

signed.... of course women should be consulted!

I keep thinking there must be more to the Mermaids/Posie thing. But there isn’t. It’s incredible but there isn’t.

SuitedandBooted · 12/03/2018 19:38

I think criticising this is fair comment
