@TheLeadbetterLife 🤣🤣🤣

Geppili · 04/01/2023 18:09

A storage otter man.

ConstantlyCooking · 04/01/2023 18:09

I saw a sign advertising wedding stationary. ..

Cheeseandabsolutelycrackers · 04/01/2023 18:14

'Midrift' instead of 'midriff' - heard that again on talksport commentary the other day, from Stuart Pearce

'Been' instead of 'being', as if everyone is has a brummy accent

Topseyt123 · 04/01/2023 18:15

When someone says "bare with me" instead of "bear with me" I always have a mental image of them suddenly flashing their bare arse, expecting us all to join in alongside them. 😱

Cheeseandabsolutelycrackers · 04/01/2023 18:17

People who say use I instead of me, and insist they are right because someone once incorrectly told them it is always 'John and I' regardless of what the rest of the sentence is...

Cheeseandabsolutelycrackers · 04/01/2023 18:18

And split infinitives they do my head in too GrinGrinGrin

Yes

Addicting instead of addictive is creeping over here from the US. Makes me twitch.

LubaLuca · 04/01/2023 18:31

"Bear with myself," when being put on hold. I would have hung up if I hadn't already been bearing with them for a very long time.

PayPennies · 04/01/2023 18:33

“And how about yourself?”

”We fell pregnant” (Both we and fell make me retch)

PayPennies · 04/01/2023 18:33

cptartapp · 03/01/2023 14:30

RIP. Fly high with the angles.

I have now died. 😂

FartWrangler · 04/01/2023 18:36

Agree with all of the above, plus "I was sat/I was stood".

LOLOLOLOL

I cannot bear "fell pregnant" - especially as I was a midwife and had to listen to the phrase all day long.

Women become pregnant/women conceive.

“You did brilliant.”

”He did amazing”

Makes my teeth ache every time.

I wrote “did” btw because my fingers refused to write “done”.

TheShellBeach · 04/01/2023 18:46

Oh, and all those annoying fuckers who say, when you phone them to find out why something hasn't been delivered, "so I'll get back to yourself in a minute when I've requested from the dispatchers why the item wasn't sent to yourself."

They can fuck right off. I agree that it's imperative to hang on and listen to their terrible English, though, after being on the line for forty minutes.

Argh - that is my absolute bugbear, the worst of the worst.

Whenever there's an American true crime show, and someone says "the body was laying on the bed" I scream at the telly "LYING ON THE BED!!"

DH sniggers now whenever he hears it.

If I hear the start of the song Chasing Cars I have to lunge for the mute button. Why on earth didn’t someone say something when they were in the recording studio? Surely there was a recording company staff pedant on hand? If not , why not? They should start employing pedants to deal with situations like this ,nipping them in the bud before they cause years of grief to innocent pedants.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 04/01/2023 18:57

Yes on route 😂

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 04/01/2023 18:57

I'm also seeing breath and lot more now when it should be breathe

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 04/01/2023 18:59

And his instead of he's.

I have found my people! 😂

I’m definitely annoyed by “breaks” instead of “brakes”. Also (mostly on Facebook) using “an” instead of “and”, e.g. I’m popping round to my mum’s for a brew an chat.

paintitallover · 04/01/2023 19:11

TheShellBeach · 04/01/2023 17:46

Ohhhhhhhhhhhh...............Voila!

I would never, never have thought of that myself, not have I seen it on a thread.

Honestly, it's best for accuracy google or look on YouTube.

Mamette · 04/01/2023 19:12

“Defiantly” is an autocorrect, it usually comes up when someone tries to misspell “definitely” as “definately”. Er… so I’ve been told Blush

I always say this but the one that irritates me is “passed”. We walked passed the shop. She has long hair passed her shoulders. Aagggh!

Love wallah! I have also seen someone described as having “perfectly quaffed hair”.
