At the end of the wedding day everyone was feeling a real glow - because it was a fun day. My dear friend who was my witness left to go home that night and she said as the train left off from London she started crying a bit because she had had such a wonderful day and was so filled with emotion! Sweet hey?

A few days ago my Mum spoke to someone who she hasn't seen for a while and she said "My friend says congratulations to you'" I said "Why? What have I done?" "I told him you got married!!!" She squeeeeeeelllleeed! "Oh ok! That. I forgot about that!" I admitted.

LoveMyGirls · 08/09/2008 08:09

Awww T4T

The wedding on saturday was fabulous, we only went to the evening do so can't give all the details about it was so lovely and they looked so happy!

The hotel was gorgeous really posh (some of the hotel rooms had 3 floors) there was carved marble, stone and wood everywhere it looked lovely. They had a live band who were really good the bride sang too and she was great everyone was really nice and friendly (no-one was stuck up or too posh to speak to me, I felt really welcome) Buffet food was things like chicken, sandwhiches (with different types of bread like tortilla wraps/ french stick etc) cheese on toast, chicken etc (simple but very fresh) the cake was gorgeous 4 tiers with chocolate all the way round. Flowers were a mixture and looked lovely (not sure what they were all called though) Fire works were good but tbh I won't miss them at my wedding.

LoveMyGirls · 08/09/2008 08:11

Nearly forgot to tell you about the dress, it was a 2 piece skirt was straight down with a little bit of a kick the top was halterneck with gold and loads of crystals, she did look stunning, she had a massive veil. Bridesmaids wore red and looked lovely too.

teafortwo · 08/09/2008 10:02

Sounds like you had lots of fun!

MerlinsBeard · 08/09/2008 10:06

oh here you are!

MerlinsBeard · 08/09/2008 10:14

LMG, sorry you are having a hard time at the moment. It was nice to see that you had been picked up by the girls on teh thread though and glad that things look brighter with your DH to be

TSM, hope you have a good holiday

SMQ - how old is your LO? I ket my PND sneak back (i actually don't think it really left) but finding that arranging the wedding is good dsitraction!

DP isn't really helping me that much, he is giving the yes or no to things but i like it that way. he is doing all the ringing around as i have a phobia of speaking on teh phone(i am a freak i know!) We are having guest list traumas again but i WILL have my own way

Bridezilla? moi? naahhh

teafortwo · 08/09/2008 10:42

In terms of the organisation of our wedding. It was basically me that organised it but to be honest there wasn't that much organising to do. I got a nice shirt for DH, in true mn style from Boden. He wore it the night before and got it dirty so had to wear an older not as nice one for us to get married in! Oh well. That is the man I chose to marry!

DH did sort out the hotels because it was a nightmare to find an affordable hotel in London and I was getting v stressed!

I need some advice. My sister has basically been organising her white wedding herself. She is a big organiser and in general enjoys it and had been giving us the impression she didn't need or want much help. However, a few days ago she had a big Bridezilla tantrum and I think it might be because she is feeling a bit "out there on her own" and would appriciate some help. What would you do to help? As a result of this outburst I have asked my boss if I can have some time off work around the wedding - so I can be there for her... it is a tricky one I don't want her to feel me and my Mum are 'taking over' her big day but equally I think she is feeling a bit sore right now - we have been a bit too removed from it all!!!

MerlinsBeard · 08/09/2008 10:44

t42 ask her to give you a job to do (or tell her!) would she delegate? YOu could come up with a few options for her and she can have the final say (like table dec's for eg)

teafortwo · 08/09/2008 11:06

Good thinking.

She is on holiday for a week which is good. It gives me time to see if I am allowed time off work, think about what I can suggest I organise and construct a nice e-mail for her.

I want to do something that doesn't involve being around her too much because when she gets stressed (weddings are stressful) I have a character that makes it worse not better and I would hate to make her more stressed than she is likely to be in the first place. Can you think of any jobs that would suit me to suggest I do?

Thanks!

WOW - big weddings are so stressful, aren't they?

MerlinsBeard · 08/09/2008 11:09

its prob just weddings in general

teafortwo · 08/09/2008 11:23

Yeah - I had a few sharp words from my Mum about our wedding. Ouch!!!

You are right.

So any ideas for a side line job for me - important enough for S.O.B (sister of bride) but one I can quietly do in the corner? And really isn't going to end with the S.O.B sobbing for the wrong reasons!!!!

teafortwo · 08/09/2008 11:25

Oh and by the way - something else different sine we got married - my MIL started us off on a dinner set!!!

So now I dreamily wonder which piece I would like to have next!!!

Here is the potters website -

teafortwo · 08/09/2008 11:25

scince not sine

MerlinsBeard · 08/09/2008 11:32

i found a thread about budget weddings on my threads i am watching. Its old but i only just rememebred about TIW

saralou · 08/09/2008 13:36

mumofmonsters i have that phobia... we are not freaks (even though dp tries to make out like i am!!)

i'm getting a bit panicked about jewellry... i ordered one, 2 weeks ago i got an email saying it would be posted in the next couple of days.. but it still hasn't arrived

i've just sent her a shitty email ( after she didn't bother responding to my nice one last week!)

MerlinsBeard · 08/09/2008 20:29

hooray i am not the only freak!!

Saralou, can you ring your jewellery person instead? maybe their internet is down?(clings to ANYTHING that may be a possibility)

saralou · 09/09/2008 16:22

mom, she doesn't have a phone number on her website, just email address.

i've just sent 2 shitty emails, one to her email i have and 1 via her website saying that if i have no response by tomorrow i will go to paypal for a refund.

i feel like i'm a bit bridezilla about this, so i may be being unreasonable.. i just don't get it, she was nice and helpfull before, emails about the colour of the crystals, then email to say it was being posted... then nothing, silence!!!

3 weeks to go, i want these things sorted... now i have to go searching for a necklace again!!!! arrrgggghhhhhhhh!

MerlinsBeard · 09/09/2008 16:42

my underskirt arrived today and even with the hoop adjusted s its really small, there is still far too much net It looks really daft

beanieb · 09/09/2008 16:47

Tentative hello

My OH proposed to me on Friday.

Having always said I would NEVER get married, and doing such a good job up til now as I am 38, it's all a bit odd. I have a ring which I can't stop looking at, have already decided what kind of dress I am going to have (Mum making it for me), know which venue we'll have for the party, have a guest list etc...

it's all really weird.

It'll be small, informal and sometime next july. So I thought I would join in and see what other people do...

MerlinsBeard · 10/09/2008 12:15

any joy saralou? been thinking of you all night. we thought we going to have tpo settle for the rings we thought were "alright" but we can have the ones we wanted now

saralou · 10/09/2008 12:44

no, so i've made a claim for my money back through paypal! this sucks!!

but on a happier note i've found a similar necklace, which is cheaper and comes with a matching bracelet here

and i phoned them, they are going to get it sent out asap!! fingers crossed!!!

what rings are you getting then mom?? i think that the rings are going to be worn fo the rest of your life so should be the ones you really want... ours were the 1st things we got to make sure we didn't run out of money!!!!

MerlinsBeard · 10/09/2008 13:14

will link them when he have finalised but we met this superduper lady who will come to our houise with some samples and then we can design around their basics and it will not cost the earth (altho is by far the most expensive part of the day!)

from this website

MerlinsBeard · 10/09/2008 13:14

at least you paid thru paypal, you can get it back that way - you can can't you??
