Was goin to have gold bowls (not real gold obviously!) with floating cream candles and a couple of flower heads but can't find bowls at a reasonable price anywhere. Next resort is glass bowls which do look lovely so I'm sure will be great. You know when you have this picture in your head though and despite not wanting to stress etc would love things to be just so. Never mind - the day after it really won't matter anymore will it? And I'll have a wonderful life with my new dh to look forward to. Far more important really!

stillovefoxes · 30/06/2008 20:41

Exactly Simbaline, i think its ease to become caught up in all the little details, which can a lot of stress and cost a lot of money.

The most important thing is that you have a fantastic day, create really good memories that you dh can share with your friends and family for years to come.

stillovefoxes · 30/06/2008 20:42

oh typos galore! Just fix them as you read it!

Simbaline · 30/06/2008 20:47

I think we're having a sack race, an egg and spoon race and a three legged race during the reception plus a quiz on love and romace before the dinner. We're having a buffet so whichever table wins gets to get their food first. So hopefully lots of lovely memories and not too much stress! My htb wants to scrap the table planning and just leave it as a bit of a free for all. I'm not so sure how it will work in practice when there are people with children who need high chairs etc. What do you guys think?

stillovefoxes · 30/06/2008 20:50

I think I love your wedding, can I come ..please!

TillyScoutsmum · 30/06/2008 20:54

Sim - your wedding sounds fantastic fun - I love it !!

Tbh - if you're having a sit down meal and need highchairs etc., I would be tempted to stick with a seating plan but then again, I am a bit of a control freak and have a bit of a weird complicated family

OP posts:
TillyScoutsmum · 30/06/2008 20:55

Oh - have you got an Ikea or Range near you at all for the bowls ?

OP posts:
SmallShips · 30/06/2008 20:57

TBH i would have a seating plan too. Your wedding sounds lovely though, really fun!

stillovefoxes · 30/06/2008 20:59

I've got a young dd who needs a highchair and would be pleased (and grateful) if that had been taken into consideration and planned, so I'm with TSM on this.

Simbaline · 30/06/2008 21:01

Thankyou guys - will have to read the old thread and catch up on what you are all doing! Or you can tell me again depending on whether you are fed up with it all or really excited!

My family is fairly straight forward. My brother go tmarried in May though and they were on to version 12 of the seating plan before they had finished. I know my dhtb will be totally uninterested and I won't know a lot of the people coming but the though of a free for all will leave me a bit too stressed I think!

stillovefoxes · 30/06/2008 21:24

I'm kinda eloping to Cornwall to marry. It was meant to be a secret but we've now told our closest friends and they are coming down for the weekend and being our witnesses.
Not really doing anything traditional, after the ceremony I am hoping that we can all go on a boat and go whale/dolphin spotting, followed by dinner and a few drinks to celebrate.

I'm sure everyone will be happy to fill you in on their wedding, we do love talking about them!

Simbaline · 30/06/2008 21:39

That sounds beautiful! So much less stress as well! Have you gone for a traditional dress etc or a wetsuit so you can go dolphin spotting? Is cornwall a special place for you or just somewhere lovely to go?

teafortwo · 30/06/2008 21:41

Mmmm.... just sneaked into say hello - but know nothing about flowers and table decs... so quick hello and welcome to Simbaline, like the hair TSM... and then I sneak out again...

TillyScoutsmum · 01/07/2008 08:48

Sim - meant to say about bridesmaid dresses - have you tried BhS ? They have some quite nice gold ones (adult and flowergirl dresses). A lot of them are reduced to half price at the moment

Hi to everyone else - Baby and SS - 3 more sleeps to go

OP posts:
TillyScoutsmum · 01/07/2008 08:50

Scrap that last bit - its early and I haven't had coffee (and I'm stupid) - its not this Friday is it ? 10 more sleeps to go...

T42 - you're this week aren't you ? How are you feeling ? Everything sorted now ?

Hello TSM - sorry about my last comment. On my screen there was a discussion about flowers last night. When I read back over it seems to be about wedding plans in general. Mmmm??? Gremlins!!!!

Yes - Saturday. We are having a wkd in London with our dd, my best friend and my dps best friend and his wife and children. Saturday am we are going to pop to Westminster Register office and we are getting very quietly and coolly married followed by a photoshoot in Covent Garden! Then if the weather is good London is our Oyster - (oh my God that is why they are called oyster cards you know for the tube - must e-mail dp as we have never worked it out - why oyster cards? Weird name!) if the weather is bad we are doing the Tate to Tate. What is the weather forcast peops? Anyone live in that kinda area. It is absolutley stonking where I live but I am informed by people living close to London it isn't really happening yet!!!!

The week after we have off work and are returning to my family's home village for a set of bbqs and meeting-ups with family and friends. Then we are doing the same thing with dps family in a few weeks time. The marriage isn't a surprise for them because I wrote letters telling everyine how much I love them, telling them about the quiet wedding plans and inviting them to a bbq (most my family), afternoon tea (my Grandparents who are a bit too fragile to travel so can't come to the bbqs) and dog walking session (good friend who loves dogs) to celebrate with me.

Am v excited as yesterday I bought a brown shirt dress and a cute countryside dress first one for the dinner out with some friends Friday night (can't wait I heart China Town and that is where the dinner is) and the second dress is for first bbq on Sunday!!!!

Tickets bought, clothes organised, paperwork for wedding done, hotels booked, tresurehunt written for the bbq with lots of kiddies - do I need to do anythingelse?

TillyScoutsmum · 01/07/2008 09:29

Sounds like you've got it all sorted T42. It sounds so fantastically chilled and you get to have about 5 different celebrations. Its like a wedding fortnight - not a wedding day

Weather check not great for London on Saturday - its saying cloudy with light rain at the moment - but it could change

This thread gets me all excited - its brill

OP posts:
teafortwo · 01/07/2008 09:58

Tate to Tate then!

Yeah - tsm - it is going to be a fortnight of champagne and cake! When I was 18 (a long time ago now sob) I said "No celebrations I am not really that happy about not being a kid anymore (having no idea when you go to university you don't really have to stop being a kid). Lets keep it low key!" as a result the celebrating lasted 3 months!!! The same thig has happened with our wedding too!!! But actually this time round I am actually really looking forward to it!!!!!

Dropdeadfred · 01/07/2008 12:06
