Having a horrible day and thinking Melissa is ready to go back to nursery tomorrow!

She is just being really horrible to poor Issac who is I think a day behind her in the illness they have. (he has more of a temperature and is much snottier than her) They gave me a blue inhaler because he is so wheezy but its impossible to hold him down and administer it at the same time unless you are an octopus.

She has been up and down to her room like a yo yo this morning. She has scratched me and bitten Isaac and then as soon as she has said sorry she is at it again. She has been taking everything he has and pushing him around. Very tiring!

Cars seems to be a theme on here - mine needs two front tyres as the bit you pump it up with has snapped and a service, all im hoping will wait till after christmas.

Well as for the tree im regretting it already! Isaac will not leave it alone and has wrecked quite a few. slowly it is all getting put up to the top and is starting to look rather bare around the bottom - its going to be a really top heavy mess by the time he has finished.

Managed to get him napping again thank goodness so at least im getting a little bit of peace from Melissa being mean.

May have to venture out soon as its been a long week in and getting a bit stir crazy

Did get out for a nice meal with dp last night tho which was really nice but think I drank most of the wine which isnt helping my headache this morning.

MarioChristmas · 03/12/2009 16:09

Sending lots of get well wishes to those who have bugs. We are all getting over one here and its been a nightmare.

Our Christmas Tree still isnt up, and now DH has announced that he is going away on Sunday as he has an exam on Monday Morning in Birmingham, so it will mean that the tree wont be done this weekend as I am not venturing up into the loft/junkspace to find it!

How is everyones Christmas plans going? What are you getting your DC's?

Jewelsandgems · 03/12/2009 21:00

Hope you have warmed uo now chaotica, and yes dahling, I am sure it will be warm for us in barbados

GYA god what a knightmare braking down in a car park! Mind you, I am not a fan of multi story car parks and next time I go to Stirling, I am going to use the park and ride (yeah right emoticon, easier said than done with 2 little children in tow...)

Tracy sorry you are having a bitch of a time with your ill DCS. It is hard work and I really sympathise. Freya had me upstairs just half an hour ago saying she felt sick, so I am now preparing myseld for an onslaught of sick through the night. Nice.

Mario we do not have our tree up either and this weekend I am off to have hair done and also see New Moon so time is not on my side. The girls wanted me to put it up tonight though and they could not understna d why I said no. I have gotten each girl a goochicoo doll and mum and dad have gotten them the massive little tikes kitchen. I am over what else to get then, if anything. They had way to man presents last year and they did not enjoy that one bit.

Well girls, off for some wine now. Have lovely evenings y'all.

Morning all.

Am watching I'm a celeb on the sky plus. Totally in lurve with Gino.

Christmas tree not up yet- we get a real one so waiting till next week I think.

It was DH's birthday this week. We told dd1 that Christmas was after Daddy's birthday.

Well that'll teach me-she woke me up at 4am the morning after crying because her presents weren't there

Funny considering she has categorically stated that Father Christmas should not go into her room.

Anyway Mario they are not getting all that much. Mainly stocking presents.

Dd1 wants a big bed so the ILs have got her one. The other thing she asked for is a wooden letterbox from ELC which I got her the other day.

Agree with you J&G about them getting far too much- it's overwhelming and they don't appreciate it.

Sorry you're having a hard time Tracy. I find behaviour gets worse when they're ill/recovering. Not enough fresh air!

On the subject of cars

Spent £132 to get it fixed only to get in to drive yesterday- warning light flashing and only started second time

More later- will cock up my morning if it won't start today.

Got my 15k run Sunday. V nervous and praying it won't rain.

MarioChristmas · 04/12/2009 07:05

GYA- Good luck with the run

It always seems close to Christmas that something breaks, some of you are having car problems but ours is the boiler. Its broken so we have no heating at the moment. Its absolutely bloody freezing.

Hope your DC's are better Tracy, I agree with GYA that being poorly makes them worse, as they are alot more irritable, and they dont like your attention being split, they want it all for themselves (or atleast thats what mine are like )

J&G - enjoy New Moon.

MarioChristmas · 04/12/2009 07:08

Oh, and GYA - Andy from CBeebies

tracyface · 04/12/2009 10:37

Morning all, feeling slightly more sane this morning as sent Melissa to nursery. I dont think she was really ready for it but its only a cough and a cold now and I think she needed a change of scenery.

Isaac seems a bit better this morning too so hopefully we will get out this afternoon as the sun is shining.

Went to my second eldest son's gcse presentation evening which was a bit tedious to say the least especially when I had to sit through all these uber intelligent children getting special achievement awards for this, that and the other.

Dont get me wrong he did well getting 11 but lets just say they were not all A - well to be honest none of them were A but Im still proud of him and he is doing ok at college, so thats the main thing. And it cost me £10 for the priveledge of a revolting glass of red wine.

Its really strange sitting there wondering how my youngest two will turn out and comparing them to various kids there last night was slightly amusing.

I'm hoping Melissa will be the blond flicky girl who excelled at languages and art and Isaac will be the boy who walked with a confident swagger who was great at sports and science

Maybe its time to buy those strange Muzzy language tapes that cost the earth.....

For christmas I have bought Isaac a train set and a wooden tea set with cakes (melissa wont share hers with him very well)

For Melissa she has a bike with stabilisers and a bed for her doll. My parents are getting her baby annabel.

And stocking pressies I have a few collected that I have been buying over the year. Loads for Melissa but I find it hard to think what to give Isaac.

Going to give the older boys money and sweets because when ever we have done loads of stupid stocking fillers they just get played with or looked at once and then chucked . Its such a waste of money

Also dp and I have decided to just buy small presents this year but I still dont know what to buy him yet?

And I think I am going to get my parents magazine subscriptions because that sort of lasts all year - only problem is my dad cant see too well and does'nt read any magazines really so only a slight problem.

Oh and im still making little aprons for the kids friends and little felt cup cakes to go with them. However it hasnt saved me any money I dont think and is turning into quite an expense but I have enjoyed getting my sewing things out for an airing!

MarioChristmas · 04/12/2009 11:45

Ooh Tracy, the aprons sound lovely, I wish I was crafty but sadly I am not!

tracyface · 04/12/2009 16:12

Hi I will try & post a picture of them on my profile when they are finished . they really are not as good as they sound but by the time I get round to the ninth one i'm sure it will be perfect.(I have made four so far, its a good job its not piece work!)

GYA - good luck with your run and hope it goes well. I cant imagine doing anything like that as i am so unfit.I can just about manage to catch Isaac when he is running away in the library

Melissa has worn herself out at nursery and is now asleep on the sofa - so Im guessing that doesnt bode well for tonights sleeping.

Have a good weekend all

Chaotica · 04/12/2009 17:46

Hi All

Damn computer playing up again (or just sadly deceased) which means I don't get time to mn work much. Added to which I'm trying to get our tree up [excited emoticon] while the DCs have a nap. (We had a really early morning and they need it, but I really must wake them before they stay up until 10pm.)

Don't know what I'm getting DS for xmas, but DD is probably getting a bike with stabilisers as well (although she can't peddle yet, but she's too big for trikes).

Sorry to hear about all the sickness and car trouble. Our two have nasty colds and have been more difficult than usual all week. I have no patience left. (DS has taken to wailing "I'm not a baby!" to bystanders as I lift him up and carry him off after an age of trying to get him to go where I want for a change. People keep laughing at me and I just don't know why

girlsyearapart · 04/12/2009 22:16

Can I give an ARRRGGH on here please?

Went to cinema (Paranormal Activity rubbish) and on the way home stopped at shops round the corner.

Then the car refused to start.

the car I just spent £132 on 3 days ago.

Am flouncing going to bed now.

OP posts:
MarioChristmas · 04/12/2009 22:27

Oh no!!!! Do you think you will be able to take it back and tell them that it isnt fixed? I did this with our car and they sorted it out.

You are the second person to tell me that Paranormal Activity is rubbish - it would still be too scary for me though, give me a rom-com any day (preferably with Hugh Grant in it )

girlsyearapart · 05/12/2009 10:11

I had already phoned the garage to tell them that the warning light was back on but the car was running ok still, well 1 time out of 5 it started 2nd time not 1st.

They have it booked in for wednesday to re scan it for free but they don't seem to have much more idea what else it could've been.

Paranormal Activity would not scare any body at all. (15 yr old girls screamed at the very end) Most of the audience was laughing rather than got scared. It was a joke- well on me anyway, the makers are laughing all the way to the bank!

Should've seen a rom com instead

OP posts:
Chaotica · 05/12/2009 21:44

Evening, All

It might just be me, but I would find the idea of a romcom with Hugh Grant in it scary ([wink)]

Seriously, though I always laugh at horror films although some of the sick psychological stuff can get me sometimes.

Finished the tree off, but I don't know if DS really understands that the lower decorations aren't there for him to experiment on. (So I put the unbreakable stuff lowest.) Tracyface - I'll have a tree like yours with everything at the top.

GYA - what a pain about the car. for you.

Just realised that we can't get DD a bike as we have nowhere to put it. So back to nothing at all on the xmas lists. (Although we might get a baby guitar for the DCs to share.)

Chaotica · 05/12/2009 21:44

GYA - Good luck for the run tomorrow!

MarioChristmas · 06/12/2009 08:10

GYA - Good luck with the run today.

We are off to see Santa today and I am so excited I think I ma more excited than the children. I have agreed with DH that we will put the tree up next week, but it seems like a long time away.

Did a marathon wrapping marathon yesterday. Have got DS1 Lego as his main present, DS2 an ELC garage and DD a Wheelybug, then little stocking presents and pyjamas/dressing gowns/slippers.

I am so excited about Christmas I might burst

girlsyearapart · 06/12/2009 17:30

Like the enthusiasm Mario!

Well- I managed the run yay Whole thing no stopping.

Dds slept badly last night so I probably only had about 4 hrs sleep. I was begging DH to get up for an hour this morning but he refused. He did get in from work at 130 am but I never ask him a favour like that when he's been working so I was pissed off he refused.

I had arranged for the dds to be looked after and a lift to the race. He came to watch the end and drove me home.

The dds were asleep, I had a bath. Dd1 woke while I was in the bath so he looked after her for a bit. I brought dd2 down with me then he had a bath.

I said I was going to the pub for a roast with our lodger. He chucked a strop saying why wasn't he going. I said we can all go if you look after the dds when we're there and I don't have to eat my dinner cold, with 1 hand whilst looking after them both whilst he troughs it back (which is always what happens)

He didn't come I was out 45 mins and he stropped out the door as soon as I got back saying he was pissed off with me!

The run today was a MAJOR acheivement for me. I deserve a bit of time to eat some dinner by myself without feeling like I'm doing something wrong.

Anyway in my exhausted state I'm now left to do dinner, bath and bed by myself and I'm not impressed AT ALL

To top it off car broke down again and is still at the pub..

Sorry that was so long..

OP posts:
Chaotica · 06/12/2009 19:00

Brilliant about the run, GYA. Not so good about the other stuff with your DH - I'm not surprised you're pissed off.

It's so much harder to stay sane and calm with OHs when sleep deprived I find (I had a disagreement with DP yesterday and was convinced I was right, only to now realise that I was completely wrong )

Evening to everyone - must go (am supposed to be working)

Chaotica · 06/12/2009 21:17

Mario - you are so organised I will probably still be wondering what to get the DCs on xmas eve.

girlsyearapart · 07/12/2009 12:09

Thanks Chaotica.

Yes I was pissed off he doesn't seem to notice that being tired really affects me.

Anyway this morning at about 9am dd2 was crying as tired. He said should he take her to bed. I said no will take her to music class and put her to bed at 11. Perhaps if she didn't wake up so sodding early she wouldn't be tired again by 8/9 am. He said She wasn't up early. I said she got up at 540 am . He said yeah that's not early.

540 am??! How is that NOT early??

Probably only early for me as I'm the mug who gets up pre 6am nearly every sodding day.

Arggh didn't mean to come and rant again but he's really getting on my nerves this week.

Anyway out with friends for dinner tonight so Dh in with the dds (told him about 4 times, asked before I booked it but no he still forgot and is annoyed)

At least the car broken so I can have lots of wine

OP posts:
Chaotica · 08/12/2009 12:42

5.40 is early, GYA. Did you do any better this morning?

girlsyearapart · 08/12/2009 13:03

DH got up with them today

Dd1 slept 7-715 no waking.

Dd2 woke at 330 am and DH tried leaving her but she was screaming like a banshee so he gave her some milk and she went back off till about 8.

How are you all?

OP posts:
Chaotica · 08/12/2009 13:25

GYA - good for DH.

Went on a church visit with DD's nursery this morning which involved a long walk to look at nothing much (although she liked the stained glass people and the fancy pulpit).

I noticed while we were there that I seem to have the only child who just randomly lies on the floor for no good reason when everyone else is standing (actually, I have two children like this - but DS is 2 so I don't find it wierd). Do any of your DCs do this? (The older ones that is.) Must get DD to the GP to have her checked over (again - can you feel the enthusiasm? ) as she's always saying she's tired.

I think DD liked the hindu temple better than the church - she judges religion on what there is to look at .

Wolliw · 08/12/2009 21:09

Trying to stop boobs for DS2 (21 months), so Hubby has been doing night settles. DS2 has never slept through.

In the middle of the night, it was a tough one, he brought DS2 to me cos he wanted me to do my share. It was okay because though grumpy, Toddler wasn't fishing for a boob.

This morning he was much nicer about it an acknowledged that I'd been doing the night settles for the best part of two years, so maybe the "my turn" comment was out of order.

Been to work for a nice rest today.

MarioandLuigi · 09/12/2009 08:07

GYA - glad you did the run and got a lie in . A few couple of years ago I went with DS1 to a church and then to a Jewish temple. All the children thought the church very boring a nd cld, but loved the temple. My heart was in my mouth when the Rabbi said they could look at the Torah, which cant be touched by anybody, as 40 over excited children came dashing towards it.

DS2 still int sleeping through, so I feel for all of you with broken nights. He isnt in a terrible mood when he wakes up, but he either sings or hums loudly. I normally end up going in his bed with him to quieten him down and rub his back.

DD is really getting around now, not crawling but bum shuffling, plus she cruises but she cant get herself up. We went to Clarks and bought her her first pair of shoes on Friday, they are so pretty compared to what I am used to with the boys.

DH is now been made redundant so he is around alot more and irritating the crap out of me. He finds fault with everything and stays in bed half the morning. I feel bad saying anything to him but I only have so much patience.

Best get off to do the school run
