I'm not going to traumatise him for life am I?

He hated it before, just seemed a good way to make him connect that doing bad stuff with his mouth makes bad things happen to his mouth.

Many tears and apologies!

Is mustard worse than marmite? Upping the ante?

If anyone wants some tricks with vinegar I can say that I administer a spoonful of the vinegar out of pickled onions (to myself) to stop hiccups!

(yep Psycho, the rule of not claiming that experiencing abuse = a better insight into whether marmite=abuse applies to everyone!)

she couldn;t have asked me at that particular point.

I was on a beaver run!

trillian, going on the ads for marmite, and the way this thread has panned out, I think that marmite is worse than ANYTHING.

sod ya mustard, vinigar, slaps, punches, belts, canes, soap, carbolic acid......

marmite is the over-all-winner-takes-all punishment never to be used.

Upping the ante with vinegar?

I simply stated that I had used vinegar and it had worked, no crowing or oneupmanship.

Marmitegate I tell you

Flamesparrow · 19/03/2009 17:39

I still think that horse radish would have been much worse.

Ooh or what was on your plate that day Psycho when he swiped dip and then sobbed??

LOL@marmitegate - do you think this will end up on the roundup?

psychomum5 · 19/03/2009 17:57

that was that green paste stuff that comes with sushi (and contains horseradish me think).

southeastastra · 19/03/2009 17:59

from an earlier question, a teacher once forced my son (then about 12) to eat some tomatoey pasta stuff. iirc she was applauded when i mentioned it on here.

TrillianAstra · 19/03/2009 18:02

Did the teacher forcefeed him, or just threaten detention if he didn't?

Why did he need to be forced?

Lizzylou · 19/03/2009 20:08

Wasabi

seeker · 19/03/2009 21:28

Did the teacher hold him down and shove the fork into his mouth? If he did - I hope you complained loud and long to everyone you could think of.

ChocFudgeCake · 21/03/2009 21:44

Great idea!!! I'll find an excuse to use it soon. I've had this marmite for a while and no-one is eating it.

LEMAGAIN · 21/03/2009 21:59

not read the whole thread, but i think you need to tread VERY carefully - he might become desensitised, then actually start to LIKE marmite and you will have created a monster

LEMAGAIN · 21/03/2009 22:01

With regards to horse raddish and mustard - can someone please tell me - why is it that their "hotness" goes up ones nose as opposed to just straight forward burning of the mouth and lips like curry and chilli?
