Does anyone want my bad back? I have a slipped disc and am struggling to get around I have so much to do and post lol.....so who wants to swap?

soon2befamilyof4 · 25/02/2009 09:39

Can anybody tell me a bit more about wool please? Would it help keep my DD from leaks at night? Can you use any washable nappy with a wool wrap?

TheLadyEvenstar · 25/02/2009 09:42

Soon yes you can. What size is your LO? I have some wool wraps which are too small for ds2.

DD is 14 months she weighs about 21 lb?
How does it work? Are they waterproof? Sorry being a bit thick here!

TheLadyEvenstar · 25/02/2009 09:47

Soon you treat them with lanolin and then they are waterproof for pretty much 3 weeks... I love them.

TheLadyEvenstar · 25/02/2009 09:48

I have these you can have

soon2befamilyof4 · 25/02/2009 09:52

Sorry TLEs - Which one(s) is it?

TheLadyEvenstar · 25/02/2009 09:59

soon it is the 3rd from bottom.

soon2befamilyof4 · 25/02/2009 10:10

Oh yes! I didn't see that! How much did you want for it? What size is it?

TheLadyEvenstar · 25/02/2009 10:17

oh I dunno £2? it is a medium, my cousin made it for me...well for ds2 lol.

if you want it, I am hoping to get to the P.O today but i am struggling to get anywhere at the moment as my back is killing me.

soon2befamilyof4 · 25/02/2009 10:49

Yes please TLES. There is no hurry to get it posted to me, just whenever you can. I have an awful back too so know what it's like, its horrible isn't it? Do you have some good painkillers? I am trying to find a way of getting something stronger than paracetamol for my back but the doctor won't give me anything because I am pregnant. I know a lot of the ladies from the pregnancy threads have got much stronger stuff though. My trouble is, during the day, I am fine really, but come 6pm I am in absloute agony and can't sleep etc with it at night. . Doctors don't see that though as I am fine when I see them.

I got some more nappies today, that I bought a week or so ago from here and they got a bit lost in the post. I have a ME AIO to try, but it doesn't look/feel very absorbant? It is quite thin, but then I guess MEOS are quite thin too and still work. I also got a minky pocket which looks good, haven't tried one yet. And a Wee notions pocket - although that says large and looks tiny - not sure it will even go on my DD and she has still got a year or so in nappies? Not worried as I can always pass on to the next baby but thought it was odd? Don't think I have a wee notions though so don't know what they are meant to be like? Got a minki fleece wetbag too which looks so much nicer than the plasticy ones I have been using.

How do you all store your nappies? I have a box next to the changing table but it is already overflowing and I still have 2+ days worth in the drier, the new nappies i got today and whatever is in the nappy bucket? AND I will have double out soon as they newborn ones are all in a box up on top of the wardrobe and still in the loft! We have other Nappies still lost in the loft too!

And I am having the same problem with the nappy bucket. I have 2 and filled both and when I went to put them on yesterday, there was still only half a wash in there? So I added some towels etc but when I have 2 in nappies, I def want to be doing a nappy only wash. I do have a big bin that I can use, which I got free with my cat litter recently, which is too big to use for the cat litter. But the lid is just like a lift up lid, it doesn't seal or anything - do you think it would be ok? It would be in DDs room probably, or in the bathroom.

soon2befamilyof4 · 25/02/2009 11:16

I have also got a few second hand nappies that I haven't used yet that have a funny smell to them. I am unsure if it is just that I am not used to the washing powder or if they haven't been 100% clean but the definatly smell. I am wondering if just a rinse cycle will be enough or if I have to put them on a full wash? If I had realised this yesterday, I could have put them in with my dirty nappies and done a full nappy wash.

I have been told on another forum that some people use bold 2 in 1 which has fabric conditioner but it doesn't effect the absorbancy like other fabric conditioners? Do you think this would be ok? Maybe just to use one tablet? I am really struggling to keep my nappies soft. I did 10 mins of tumble drying the other day and still crispy. So the ones I washed last night went in the dryer for the whole drying time, but I don't really want to do that - it only takes me 5 mins to hang them up and my tumble dryer is upstairs. Haven't checked what they are like - they are still in the dryer.

TheLadyEvenstar · 25/02/2009 11:21

My Bucket has a lift up lid and is in the bathroom. TBH I would rewash the nappies you got just to make sure they are nice smelling and clean.

i will treat the wool wrap before i send it hun.

soon2befamilyof4 · 25/02/2009 11:33

Thank you - that will mean I will have 3 weeks to work out how to do it myself!

I have plenty of nappies so have decided I will re wash them. Think I am going to use the big bin from the pet shop. I can then empty the nappy bucket from DDs room everyday (probably twice a day when there are 2) and wash every 2-3 days with a full wash.

McDreamy · 25/02/2009 11:35

After a little advice please - are there any nappies out there that aren't much bigger than a disposable ie where they can wear normal size clothes IYSWIM. Have just bid on some sandies on ebay as I understand they are quite slimline

soon2befamilyof4 · 25/02/2009 11:45

I have found bumgenious pockets to be very slimline. Well any pockets are good for that really but bumgenious are the best I have found so far, but I don't know as much as some others on here. And it also depends on what you use as an insert - the ones that come with them are very slim.

How old are your DC in nappies?

My DD still wears the same clothes in her washables, but her bum does look a bit big in them sometimes. We are still trying out what is best for us really. At home I think I prefer using Motherease onesize with an airflow wrap. And then when we are out or something, a pocket nappy.

McDreamy · 25/02/2009 11:47

Thanks, DD is nearly 3 weeks and 7lb, she is currently in disposables

soon2befamilyof4 · 25/02/2009 11:53

Oh ok, you might find sandys best then as she is still so tiny. I have a few sandys for when my next one is born. Also worth bearing in mind is if she is breastfed and if so, if you plan to carry on. This is just because breastfed poo can be very explosive and runny! And frequent! Sandys should do the job though. I am sure some more experienced people will be along in a bit - these ladies have helped me so much the last couple of weeks since I went back to washables. So THANK YOU everybody! .

Also, people buy and sell on here so you might find that somebody has got what you want which is sometimes easier than ebay.

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 25/02/2009 11:58

hi McDreamy, at 3 weeks I guess xs sandy's and ella's house hemp would look really slim. as she grows, S sandy's, especially bamboo, can be slim too; wrt pocket/AI2, pop-ins are slim (I only used the main soaker til dd was 4 months old), itti bitti and blueberry (though these are double the price!). hth

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 25/02/2009 12:01

oh, i have 2 ella's house for sale if you want to try . forgot, nature babies mf lovables are quite trim too (and have 2 of those too for sale!), they are fleece lined pockets (they still need a wrap though)

soon2befamilyof4 · 25/02/2009 12:01

Would love somebody to tell me more about itti bitti. I have looked on their website and on ebay but can't really work out what is great about them? But I know you all love them so would love to know!

Sorry I am talking too much again!

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 25/02/2009 12:04

soon, they are very slim (my DD has thin waist and chunky thighs, so not getting on with airflow wrap atm so have 10 bamboo sandy's not being used , and these just fit perfect as they're very trim) and soooooooooooo soooooooooooooooooooooooooooft. I was told about them when I was pg, but tbh the website doesn't do them justice, plus you can just change the insert if the outer is not soiled, as they are not like pockets

soon2befamilyof4 · 25/02/2009 12:41

So are they an AIO, 2 part or what? I am still so confused! DO you need a normal wrap with them? We use airflow wraps at the moment, with whatever nappy I have handy, usually a MEOS or Nappy Nation or tots.

swampster · 25/02/2009 12:51

soon, take a look at this pic - the boosters popper in. D'Lish!

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 25/02/2009 12:53

they're AI2 like pop-ins, you have an outer that's lined with suedecloth, then you have a trifold and a suedetopped tongue you pooper in (so no need for fleece liners to keep bum dry)
