I have been getting the second hand ones for about £10 or under and my new ones for £10.08 or something silly but i sold a couple of prams and buggy bits and loads of nappies to fund most of them!

lollipopmother · 25/02/2009 22:36

Oh seeing 4's Itti list reminded me of another colour, I have 10 not 9!

If anyone is thinking of getting a new WeeNotions then there's a code for 10% off on clothnappytree in my topic about Weenotions sales. It doesn't cover everything though so best to check the topic.

4andnotout · 26/02/2009 07:52

I forgot rockamelon, and i have a medium red cominf

I am thinking about selling my Nappy Nation size 2s? Does anybody know how much I would get for them realistically? I usually just look around at others for a guide price but I can't find any around! They don't seem to be very avaliable preloved?

I might just keep them, as I actually quite like the idea of them and they fit DD fine, no leaks and will do fine in the day with a ME airflow. BUT they are the main nappies I am having trouble with going crispy, which I know is because I live in a hard water area. But if it ends up meaning I tumble dry the whole nappy load instead of line drying - is it really worth it?

Ohh I don't know!

I have joined cloth nappy tree! Who else is on there? I know 4 is and have worked out who you are (not stalking, promise!).

soon2befamilyof4 · 26/02/2009 09:55

I think I am going to go ahead and buy a bumhugger for night times - would you all agree this is a good option?

Does anybody have one here before I buy from ebay or similar? Would love a girly colour but then they go under a wrap anyway don't they?

ARGH, I need to stop spending money!

Hopefully · 26/02/2009 09:55

I've joined cloth nappy tree, but have posted.... once. About wool.
Soon is there any chance of you just tumbling the nappy nation ones, or is it just too tempting to bung the whole lot in there? I know I'd be too lazy to separate out the ones that need tumbling, but I don't have a tumble drier, so don't have that problem! I partly do cloth nappies for eco reasons (although I am not totally dedicated, hence buying more pretty nappies that I don't really need!) so would be inclined to sell any nappies that meant I was doing huge amounts of tumbling.

I want more ittis! Need to limit myself to only one or two more (and a few more inserts!) until he can fit into the large ones, seems silly to get more than that when hopefully he'll be able to fit into a large in a few months.
Incidentally, I assume the boosters aren't meant to be interchangeable between a medium and a large, but has anyone who has both sizes tried it? Are the poppers different distances apart, or could you get away with using a trifold booster from a medium in a large?

soon2befamilyof4 · 26/02/2009 09:59

Oh, I need a large by the way.

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 26/02/2009 10:04

soon I'm in hard water area too, and I find that especially hemp gets very stiffy, so I always tumble my BHs for 10-15 mins before hanging, it really does make a difference and you don't need to tumble them dry.

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 26/02/2009 10:07

itti advice please!! I only have 2 (out of 10) I bought brand new and one of them has really bobbled a lot (the suedecloth on the inside of the outer I mean), all the others, included the ones that have obviously seen a few bums, haven't got a problem... anyone else had this?

soon2befamilyof4 · 26/02/2009 10:21

Yes, I ideally want to try tumble drying for 10 mins and then hanging up BUT, it is a bit of a PITA for me as I have a stupid cottage with a stupid layout which means the washer is downstairs and the tumble dryer is upstairs and the only hanging space is downstairs. So would mean bringing the nappies down to wash, then upstairs again to tumble and then down again to hang up and then up again to go away. Do you see what I mean?

The stupid thing is, I don't even like tumble drying. I am trying to be eco and cost effective but the nappies are just going so hard. I am not bothered in the slightest about hanging up the nappies, so it isn't a laziness thing, washing is the one bit of housework I don't mind doing.

I have found the reviews on cloth nappy tree very useful.

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 26/02/2009 10:30

see your point, mine is on top of the washer so literally thrown the stuff in without even getting up

soda chrystals help (old gran's method), and vinegar, though some say it can damage the elastic, so I only use it for stripping. I've also read somewhere that comfort softener is ok to use with nappies (when I remember I add just a drop for the smell, as ittis, being jersey like material, don't crunch up like terry)

they all seem very friendly too in CNT, a part from that woman that has got my money and disappeared

soon2befamilyof4 · 26/02/2009 10:47

I am going to try bold 2 in 1 tablet for my next nappy wash, as that has a built in fabric conditioner that is clay based and doesn't clog the nappies - got that from CNT.

Have already tried vinegar.

What do you do with soda crystals? I have a pack I can use if you think it will help.

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 26/02/2009 10:52

just add to the powder, on mine it says to reduce the powder (which I already do anyway) and add 25-50g depending on water hardness (not sure how much this is, but I add about 1-2 tablespoons)

yes, forgot to add about bold as well

soon2befamilyof4 · 26/02/2009 11:40

Oh ok. Maybe I could do half a bold tablet and some soda crystals? Would this be a good plan?

Does the temperature of the wash effect the crispness at all do you think?

4andnotout · 26/02/2009 17:20

Soon i have some large bumhuggers, i think i may have a turqouise fleece inner one? My fil used bold 2in1 on my nappies and i was but i dont think i had any major leaks!
My tumble dryer is upstairs too so im forever runing back and forth!

soon2befamilyof4 · 26/02/2009 17:39

4 - I didn't think there was anything wrong with bold 2in1?

I will have a think about the bumhuggers, I had pretty much decided to get one but then I asked on CNT about night nappies and have had some recommendations to nappies that are more absorbant than BH. Hope that is ok.

4andnotout · 26/02/2009 17:43

I trust no fabric conditioner Im a bit ocd about my nappy washing routine!
No worries about bh, im not listing any to sell was just going to sort out a spare iykwim.

Hopefully · 26/02/2009 18:53

Oooooh, I have just cast on the stitches for my longies! Got a lovely bright red wool, just going to do one colour for now, not going to try to be clever till I've knitted a pair!
Be prepared for lots of very boring posts about progress....

Minor of all the tumble drier owners.

Sunflower for the price they are, I think I'd return one that's bobbled, if it's bad. It's probably a funny batch of fabric that was used for that nappy.
I'm still intrigued to know whether anyone has tried to fit a medium itti insert in a large itti. I know it would be shorter, but would it actually popper in/do any good?

4andnotout · 26/02/2009 18:59

Have just checked and rhey do fit

WriggleJiggle · 26/02/2009 19:20

Can anyone suggest a nappy fold for terry squares, for my (chubby) 15 month old? There are so many different folds on the nappy lady website I'm not sure which ones to have a go at first. Thanks.

TheLadyEvenstar · 26/02/2009 19:57

ohhh now i can help wriggle lol

this is what I use on my chubby 17m old

ceb80 · 26/02/2009 20:18

mumoftoby · 26/02/2009 20:36
