mumoftoby just put him in one anyway My DS has a pink striped grobag and a job lot of pink vests, and he looks very smart in all of them.

ilovemydogandMrObama · 12/02/2009 21:12

Lollipop Swampster There's just about enough time for me to order a stacinator before my mom comes to visit from California.

Questions:

  1. How are the sizes? DS is 11 months, but skinny... small or medium?
  1. Best for day or night use?
  1. How many?
Hopefully · 12/02/2009 21:16

Lollipop and Sunflower, I've got a bone to pick with you! You have got me all interested in nappies and now I want to try some other ones rather than putting up with the very average job my bamboozles are doing. I have taken to lurking on this thread and now I have been driven to posting.

The bamboozles were bought by the ILs who scuppered my plans to buy loads of different types of nappies by buying us 25 size 1 and 25 size 2. I've just realised that I can sell some of the (unused) size 2s for a pretty good sum, and I might see if I can get a few quid for some of the size 1s as well. No idea where to sell used nappies though.

Now that I've managed to blame someone else for me wanting to spend money on nappies, can you clever lot do two things for me?

  1. talk to me about wool. I totally do not understand how it is possible to use wool and not end up with baby/bed sheets/grobag that are damp and smell of wee. I'm a reasonable knitter, so if I'm tempted I might get one, then knit some more if they're good.
  2. tell me what to use at night - i'm thinking of trying to get hold of a bumhugger. The bamboozles leak if I am too lazy to change him the microsecond he wakes in the morning, or if he sleeps through and therefore has one less nappy change. DS seems to be getting a progressively worse nappy rash the more he sleeps through (happened when he slept through for a couple of weeks at 3 months as well), I assume because it's wet against his skin for longer? I've tried putting a fleece liner in tonight to see if that improves things too, but I just feel we're on a losing battle with the bamboozles, as he is mililitres away from leaking at the best of times!

have also ordered an itti bitti d'lish, just because I want it.

Hopefully my DS is a ridiculously heavy wetter and I've had great results with a Baby Beehind bamboo under a Tots Bots fleece wrap He's gone 12 hours in that combination with no leaks and nothing more than a faint smell of wee in the morning. Other nappyheads turned me on to the BBHs so I expect one of them will be along to rave about them soon

mumoftoby · 12/02/2009 21:58

Cyteen that made me giggle. Have you taken photos to tease him as a teen - I wish I had bought blue grobags now, but was too budget conscious and stuck with cream in case I had a girl in the future!

oopsRonanOGarascoconuts · 12/02/2009 22:05

My Red Itti arrived this morning - it has been washed a few times and I am going to try it our tomorrow . DD has been in her pop in today and I have no idea how well it works because she poo'd 25 seconds after I put it on. We are thinking about what to buy next once she grows out of her bamboozles. If the Itti's work out then I will get more and a few Baby Beehinds for nights.

Any other suggestions?? - she is a heavy night wetter and drying time is not an issue. I don't get on with stuffables but have 2 peapods which seem to be the only stuffables that haven't leaked on me!

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 12/02/2009 22:31

Hopefully once you start.... what colour did you get?

wool - the lanolin makes it waterproof, and as wool is a natural fibre is breathable. it needs washing if soiled, otherwise can be used for a while (and doesn't smell!!). it takes a few times of lanolising before it can go through the night (but if you buy pre-loved, then you don;t need to!). there are loads of patterns available on the net like here, from wraps to longies (and if you can knit, I'd be happy to be your guinea pig, well M that is )

otherwise there's fleece. I've just got a stacinator and though quite bulky, is very effective with a boosted bumhugger (the small pop-in boosters are perfect size for this!!). I think I prefer wool, but I have only used the fleece one 3 times.
the pop-in with just the night booster holds well too, but I prefer fleece lined. I also use Real Easy for night, which I really like.
I'd suggest trying a pre-loved bumhuuger as hemp takes many washes to get to full absorbancy

thebluefoxategreensocks · 12/02/2009 22:34

Just saying hello!

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 12/02/2009 22:36

ilove

  1. medium - DD's 5 months and though big and bulky it fits, so no point in small 2)night, well, I like very slim/trim nappies for day 3)if you use every night, then 2 are enough (1 in wash, 1 on) as it takes seconds to dry

I think lollipop was selling hers

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 12/02/2009 22:38

oh, lollipop that was E's itti, by the way, what powder do you use? it smells lovely and reminds me of home for some reason..

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 12/02/2009 22:39

Hi rachel!

those crankypants are lovely, I want a monkey one!

swampster · 13/02/2009 01:08

ilove...MrObama - agree with Sunflower re: Stacinators...

On the baby night shift.

lollipopmother · 13/02/2009 06:54

ILMD - I'm selling a Stacinator, I've never used it just tried it on for size, it's very pretty, it's called lucky charm and looks like this

Sunflower - Well I use either a small amount of Sainsbury's own bio powder (purple box), or I use soapnuts with a bit of tea-tree and a couple of drops of orange. I probably used a tablet knowing that it was going to you, because I'm not totally confident that soapnuts work Glad you like the colour, it's lush isn't it!

lollipopmother · 13/02/2009 07:10

Can you believe this - I got a warning from a mod on Clothnappytree yesterday for my post at top of 2nd page, I think I'm still in shock, I really didn't think that was offensive at all, I think I'm quite a nice person! I feel a bit childish and indignant about it now, I want to flounce!

OP posts:
4andnotout · 13/02/2009 07:43

Lolipop I cant understand the furore myself I cant see any offensive or nastyiness in what you had posted. DD3 is wearing the cow print and looks gorge!

Hopefully · 13/02/2009 08:21

Lollipop they must be extremely hypersensitive -we've obviously all developed incredibly thick skins from reading/posting on AIBU threads.

Sunflower I got a turquoise, can't wait! It was sent on Weds, and despite my postman not delivering till 2:30pm yesterday it wasn't delivered, so I hope it comes today. I'm figuring putting it on will also solve T's constipation, as he's bound to do the most enormous poo in the world the second I do it up.
Will definitely be buying more if they fit/contain, have my eye on red, peppermint, and T may have to cope with a fuschia one. I can claim I'm taking a stand against gender stereotyping!
Wool sounds fun - lol at you being my guinea pig Sunflower! You and M could have matching ones. I'm going to try to find a preloved one, and then dig out my needles!

Cyteen thanks for the Beehinds recommendation - I will add it to my list of ones to look out for when scouring classifieds.

Any tips on other sites to look at for used nappies?

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 13/02/2009 09:07

lollipop what would they say if they read the AIBUs?!!

hopefully - cloth nappy tree, ukparents lounge, the nappy site, used nappies

swampster · 13/02/2009 09:52

lollipop

drlove8 · 13/02/2009 10:01

lollipop never mind the grumpy git on cnt. at least you can post here and have a good bitch giggle about her! lol.....another one for the "booster gags" i think.

itwasCYTEENagewedding · 13/02/2009 10:37

lollipop ffs do people have nothing better to do than look for mardiness where there is none? i'm half-tempted to register and show them what deliberate rudeness really is

what size is your stacinator, i'm definitely in the market for a second fleece wrap after last night's disposable leaked wee at 1am

very tempted to get a few more Ittis, they are so slim and cute and easy to use. trying to curb myself for now, i am awash with nappies after some unexpected fluffy post brought me another Teddy and a Flexitot.

AnnVan · 13/02/2009 10:55

lollipop honestly! Is no one allowed to voice abything even slightly negative? Oooh I'll go on there and show the oversensitive eejit what a real rant is. I don't often rant but when I do I REAALLY go for it!

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 13/02/2009 11:34

Hi, anyone wants a purple/lilac sandy's? they just took my order wrong so go an extra one (DD was chatting away, so probably my fault for not paying attention!). it would be £7.50 plus postage, guess about £1, so still cheaper than getting it from them as it's £3.95 p&p.

Hopefully · 13/02/2009 11:47

The postman has been and has not delivered my itti bitti!

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 13/02/2009 11:48

do you want a purple sandy's

AnnVan · 13/02/2009 12:10

Sunflower is it a really girly kind of purple or a bold, bright one?

FLUFFY POST!!! My coloured Sandy's just arrived! Yay. Strangely, I think I like the orange on best.
