My ds(7) used to say and still says things wrong all the time:

Shopping in Morrisons = Shopping at Marge Simpsons
Let's go!! used to be ago!!
and recently the Nintendo game Tetris was called testis.
I could go on for ever. Even had his ears checked thinking he didn't hear things properly, but they were OK.
Both dc's are bilingual, so of course mixing in both languages happens all the time.

Next door's little girl (where we used to live) couldn't pronounce ds1's name, so Christopher became Pig. She used to love my boys (naturally [smug mummy emoticon]) and would climb up the fence and call to them, "Booyyyys, ohhh booooyyyys!!"

cupubumber= cucumber
bungalows = dungarees
i did a blessooo = i have just sneezed

farmer chrismuss = father christmas

...having entered the water, upon discovering that i'd not blown up her armbands enough, "Mummy! I'm shrinking!!"

....quite a long list - but then i've just discovered dd1 has had a significant hearing loss - probably for some time too - so perhaps that explains it!

seeker · 19/01/2009 11:54

We still talk about "emote-control' cars!

earlyriser · 19/01/2009 13:29

Mocorbike for motorbike and Hotterbottle for hot water bottle which makes me smile.

mathsmummy27 · 19/01/2009 16:22

bedgetubbles - vegetables

pizzy man (he who delivers the pizzy)

B52s · 19/01/2009 16:29

Cock for clock (fair enough)
Want cock! for want chocolate (not good)

Slickbird · 19/01/2009 21:40

Great thread! It's ACE what kids come out with.

My DD1 (now nearly 8 used to say)

Eyebrose - Eyebrows

MarshMELLOWS (still says)

Gunk Gunk - Chocolate

And my friends wee girl used to say;

Slickbird · 19/01/2009 21:41

Also, I used to be, Memmee and DH was Dadoo!

accordiongirl · 19/01/2009 22:00

my boy, 2yr twin, goes in for this colourful language stuff:

muki is music
cagga-boo is cucumber
owdebba is aeroplane
uppick and ippuck are hiccups
tee-to is teapot
helly-duopter is helicopter
bikey-ba is bicycle
my-nama is banana
pillaba is caterpillar
oll-lee-lee is holiday (my fave!)

and polly-ibby-obadon is polly put the kettle on...

I LOVE all this and find it really hard to correct him!

accordiongirl · 19/01/2009 22:11

and...

guppies for crumpets
balla for umbrella
peggin for penguin
lippa for slippers

in fact, I spend a lot of time translating for him, but HV said he doesn't need a hearing test...

BananaSkin · 19/01/2009 22:54

Apricorns for apricots (and yellows for oranges, but that's not a mispronounciation, just sweet).

xfabba · 19/01/2009 22:59

My ds used to say pin-pin for penguin. There is a penguin shaped bin in the park and every time we went past he would shout "pin-pin bin" It used to make me laugh every time. He was obsessed with that bin.

PinkFurryStripeyTiger · 19/01/2009 23:07

DS used to be unable to say his v's, so in his Postman Pat impression he always had a 'special delibbery'

Apple juice was pronounced 'happy juice' which is the termwe now use for diluted fruit juice.

Pawslikepaddington · 19/01/2009 23:13

Lello for yellow, and th for s-sounds. Was very impressed yesterday-v undoggy household-we know nothing about dogs/dog species, but dd wants a poodle, so knows what poodles are. Her friend has just got a labradoodle, and dd calls it a poodleador-how she knows it is crossed with a labrador I don't know, but I still grinned!

singersgirl · 19/01/2009 23:41

DS1, now 10, loved 'bimangas' (bananas) and his 'brekmast' of Weetabix and playing with the 'femote rontrol' for the TV. He used to say 'Doog morngin' instead of 'Good morning'. My parents still talk about 'bimangas'.
