balarm instead of alarm

WhereTheWildThingsWere · 09/01/2009 14:20

Ds calls still says 'cowl' for cow, which
I find very cute, for ages he said 'ovlive' and 'ovliver' for olive and oliver, which always made me say ahhhhhhhh.

schneebly · 09/01/2009 14:21

DD can't do "V"s

So we have "olib"(olive) and "glub" (glove), which I find adorable.

MadameCastafiore · 09/01/2009 14:22

Wiln't is one of the ones DS often comes out with and I think it is sooo cute.

His sister also has a different surname from him which he mispronounces as Great - so he calls her Harriet Great.

ThePudding · 09/01/2009 14:22

dd calls the Trafford centre 'America'

cant correct it, am laughing too much

'here we are, in America...'

worzelgummidge · 09/01/2009 14:22

DD says afore instead of before

PortBlacksandResident · 09/01/2009 14:23

Hostiple
Consurgatry
Bouncalene

MogTheForgetfulCat · 09/01/2009 14:24

DS1 (2.10) spent several months calling me "Mimi" rather than "Mummy" - he got a lot of vowels wrong for some reason. I LOVED it, and am a bit sad to be boring old "Mummy" now.

He also had trouble with c for some reason - so "cot" was "tot", 'cup" was "pup" and "cream" was "meam" (also "ice-meam"), all of which I found adorable.

FAQtothefuture · 09/01/2009 14:24

my DS1 calls Trifle - Triffle.

Apparently for years (and actually I think I remember saying it so must have been a long time) I called umbrella'

Underbrellas

ThePudding · 09/01/2009 14:24

also that things are 'like' things, which they actually are..IYSWIM

pointing to her baby brother
'aaah he's cute he's like a baby'

me - he is a baby....
her - yes, like a baby

midnightexpress · 09/01/2009 14:24

DS1 says 'geeclecting' instead of 'collecting' and he has a book with a picture of a tandem in it which he insists on calling a 'tangerine'. He is, otherwise quite brilliant though, obviously.

FAQtothefuture · 09/01/2009 14:25

oh and my brother couldn't say "sp" when he was little so there were

poons, panners and pots

HappyPSYCHOnewYear · 09/01/2009 14:25

we still call escalators (sp?) alligators since DD1 coined the term as a toddler.

she is 15 this year.

oh, and hippicups (hicups), abloovious (oblivious), sgetti (spaghetti).

and was only a little while ago that all round things reverted to their proper names, rather than all being lumped as 'beebles' (DD1 misheard beach balls as beebles, but then figured all round items were 'beebles')

Botbot · 09/01/2009 14:25

[while watching Fifi and the Flowertots]

'Stingo is a very naughty waps.'

merlin · 09/01/2009 14:26

DS2 (3 1/2) has a little friend at nursery called Gabriella - he calls her Gabby Bella!!!

PortBlacksandResident · 09/01/2009 14:26

Murms - you know the one's that wiggle in the ground.

lillypie · 09/01/2009 14:36

My DD (22 months)says that she can't did it
she also calls DP mummydaddy

She has lately taken to calling me shweethorse

Hangingbellyofbabylon · 09/01/2009 14:40

My dd always referred to Woolworths as 'Walrus' - sadly no more

Onlyaphase · 09/01/2009 14:40

DD (2.4) calls our dog Bor-wis instead of Boris. V cute (at least to us!)

Would love to be called Shweethorse though, Lillypie, might have to introduce it into our conversations

Craftynap · 09/01/2009 14:41

Scooter = Tootie

one, two, tree, bore, fy, six, semit, eight, nine, ten

FAQtothefuture · 09/01/2009 14:41

it all gets rather confusing with my DS3 too.

"daddy" can mean either

daddy
teddy
or
taffy

francagoestohollywood · 09/01/2009 14:41

Oh loads!!! My dc grew up bilingual and both their Italian and English was incredibly funny.
Ds referred as himself as "you" instead of "i" or "me" for nearly a year

BonsoirAnna · 09/01/2009 14:42

My DD (4) speaks both English and French fluently but always says avec instead of with when speaking English.

"I want to stay avec you, Mummy"

pooka · 09/01/2009 14:44

DS says Farmer Christmas, which I think is rather sweet.
