Oh and he still says 'please may I can have ...?' That was my fault for correcting him when he said 'can I have' with 'may I have'.

He used to tell me 'Mummy I wungy' (hungry) Soooo cute! I would starve him all day just so I could hear him say it (Kidding!)

my dd calls Maccy D 'old McDonald's'

we have a song and everything

edam · 09/01/2009 18:57

ds is still making regular past tenses when they should be irregular - 'buyed' and 'goed' sort of thing. I think he's probably old enough at 5 to stop doing it but am reluctant to pull him up as it's so cute.

And it's bloody clever when they start doing it - because 2 and 3yos have never heard anyone saying 'buyed'. They've just worked out all by themselves what the past tense should be by applying the rules. Not their fault that English is so contrary!

Remembered some more reading this thread!

DS1 calls loo roll "paper roll", an amalgamation of DH's "toilet paper" and my "loo roll".

And he says "under" instead of "un" so he tries to "undertangle" things and the like. Sooo cute!

smugmumofboys · 09/01/2009 19:34

DS2 (4) has loads: almost all past participles (goneded, sawed etc), oopsidentally is my fave, chickenpops. So many really.

DS1 (6) used to call the ELC the 'Earning Werning Centre' which has stuck (with me and DH) and he wears his 'viking' boots to go walking in.

GypsyMoth · 09/01/2009 19:43

when i was an au pair, years ago,the little boy i looked after called me his "old pear"!!!

and my middle son refers to his birth certificate as his "receipt".

stellsie · 09/01/2009 21:10

these are all sooo cute!

when my son was at nursery he had a little (girl)friend who couldnt say her 't's and she would run after him calling Ded Ded (my son's name is Ted!!)

noonki · 09/01/2009 21:21

'auntie Tim' makes us all laugh

we too have farmer christmas down our chimney

dizzydixies · 09/01/2009 21:23

DD1 has always called my friend Uncle Paula
she could never say my brother's name properly so he has remained ever since Uncle Rocket and the next two will no doubt call him that too

she also refused to call my best friend's partner by his name for some strange reason and he has been known ever since as 'Man'

Bink · 09/01/2009 21:26

Dd (the 8yo) did a lovely picture of a Finding Fairy (Mum magical person who finds stuff you've lost) wearing a dress aptly embroidered with (winged of course) Magniflying Glasses

Beachcomber · 09/01/2009 21:37

Birthdays are refered to as 'happy birthdays' as in 'mummy is it my happy birthday soon?'

The DCs are bilingual and come up with some v cute structures like 'that is the best film that I have never seen'.

DD2 has invented the excellent word 'proul' which is used to describe when you get splashback on your bum from a poo dropping into the toilet (said with a French R and ooo sound).

Feenie · 09/01/2009 21:39

My current favourite is
'Yak, dat 'gusting!' for things he thinks taste nasty (the things change minute by minute at the moment!)

RiojaLover75 · 09/01/2009 21:41

DS1, says bouncaline as in bouncing on the trampoline. "Mummy can I play on the bouncaline??" . Makes me smile every time!

dizzydixies · 09/01/2009 21:43

oh I love bouncaline

spottyshoes · 09/01/2009 21:44

Awwwww. Everything my DS (20mths) says has his own little slant on it. I love the excited way in which he says things wrong but looks immensely proud of himself.

One Two Eee Door Fi Six Ay Nine Ten

Isaidno · 09/01/2009 21:45

In our house a squirrel is a squiggle.

Sexonlegs · 09/01/2009 21:47

DD1 says vegables (vegetables) and calls pass the parcel, parcel the parcel!

hairymcclary · 09/01/2009 21:47

Fourth-head! LOL! (meaning forehead)

Fume-an (human)

And, chicken-maggots is just a normal thing to say in our house instead of chicken nuggets
