Acinonyx - I have quite a few child-free friends. I still have the same interests now as before the baby, so can manage a non-baby focused conversation This I think is the key in maintaining the friendship.

Elibean - You have beaten me only by a few months in age when you had your second child.

Isn't it absolutely fantastic having a baby late in life, I'm loving every second of it.

I'm a 44-year-old Londoner with a dd who is nearly 3.

Ok, so I not the oldest first timer - but I am still the oldest here!

Are you sure seeker?

Report
seeker · 04/09/2008 09:28

Yup - unless you are going to knock me off my pedestal!

Report
mufti · 04/09/2008 09:42

seeker has your pedestal got some support you can hold on to incase you are a little unsteady on your feet

lol

It's just that I can think of several posters who are 50+ (so unless your profile is very out of date...!)

It has a stair lift and grab rails. It is also painted in nice bright colours and has a recorded voice shouting "Are you all right, dear?" every five minutes. Every 3 months a group of children from the local school come and sing me songs from the 1st World War, then ask me about my memories of rationing.

I'm 42 with a 12 (almost 13) y.o. Home is usually in Cornwall, but am currently living in Brussels due to dh's job. Went to Devon to stay with mum this summer and it pissed down as normal. Tavistock is definitely the wettest place on the planet.

Kewcumber, I'm not too sure what 'proper Londoner' consists of, but am in SW13. Not considered hugely proper in local Mums circles, though, I think

Does suburbanite mean TW or MDDX type code?

Report
Kewcumber · 04/09/2008 12:54

well mines TW though the name is a bit of a give-awau

Why haven't we met... are you shy?

Elibean · 04/09/2008 12:55

Oh, and I have to tell you all, in case you're feeling old today, my sister's BF had twins at 49. She had re-married a much younger bloke (not that that part is relevent really), had a brief honeymoon before he set out for Afghanistan (red cross), thought she was menopausal, went to see her gynae and there were the two heartbeats on the screen...

She kept up a full time job throughout the pg, delivered them vaginally, and now has two 5 yr olds at 55.

Makes me feel a lot better when I'm feeling grey round the edges

Elibean · 04/09/2008 12:56

Shy? No, don't think so - well, not after five minutes or so - do you mean in RL or here?

Report
Kewcumber · 04/09/2008 12:57

no no I mean in RL

Report
Elibean · 04/09/2008 12:59

Ah, that would be because my eldest is nearly 5 and I tend to know all the Mums of nearly 5 yr olds in my area, but poor dd2 gets taken to one measly music class and thats it

Curse of the 2nd child.

Your ds is gorgeous, just saw your pics

Have to rush off to primary school picnic get together thing now (wet, no doubt), see you later!
