Yes ClaudiaSchiffer, I say go for it too. I have a 8 week old and am thinking that would like another. I dont think that being in your late fifties or sixties will be a negative in terms of dealing with trying teenage behaviour. If anything we might deal with it better than a younger parent because we will be more mellowed but also less likely to put up with too much crap!! lol

Hi there, I'm 41 with a 4yr old and a nearly 2 yr old. I would love to have another but wonder if I'm too old, but reading this thread makes me think it's possible!

The thing that worries me isn't coping with the baby thing (I adore babies) but the grumpy teenager thing when I am (eeek) 60!

Does anyone else have similar worries or should I just get over myself? The thing is that I was a pretty um . . . vile trying teenage for my parents and they were in their 40's.

mind you i still want to do lots of things but i want to do it with my kids now and share some of the experiences, good and bad that i have already had.
Learnt to scuba dive with my 14 year old 2 years ago...that was incredible fun and we ski together.....life is just wonderful when i am with them but we also enjoy our times apart.....

sometimes its nice being an older mum as i tgink you can be more settled in that you have done all the night club things and alot of travelling and somehow having children just makes everything feel so complete. I had two boys but I would really have loved to have had a girl to do girly things with.

I'm 40.7 and have a 3 month old. I also have a 6 year old DD and 8 year old DS. No plans for more tho.
It's lovely having this chance one last time. I'd always said I'd keep my options open for a 3rd baby, when I was closer to 40.
I don't mind being older when she was born, as she's got her older siblings to look after her too, and they do - they think the world of her.

That's interesting - I'm going to ring my mum to find out when hers stopped.

Notice how you talk about all sorts of very intimate things with lots of different people once you become a mum? Poos and periods are now so commonplace in my conversations compared to pre-dc!

Thanks for that alypaly. I think my mum was 50 so hope for yet. I'm afraid that 'going for it' isn't an option at the moment. Dp flat refuses until our finances get better and I've no idea when that will be

normally your periods stop around the same time as your mums did. I stopped at 46 and was still trying for more babies, but you get less fertile and receptive to fertilised eggs. If you want more, go for it now. Its too late once the periods stop. And the longing never goes away...believe me.

I would still love lots more now and i am now classed as geriatric as far as gynocologists are concerned.

I'm old 41, 6 kids 10-2 years. Would love another but we've no money. I wonder how long I've got until I should stop hoping?

A distant aunt of mine attended her eldest child's wedding - he was 23 - and then gave birth to her youngest a week later!

I'm 51 with a 10yo only-child dd. Do I count? I was 41 when she was born - that made me old at the time, honest!

We also have 3 boys between DD1 and DD2 (17 19 and 21 ). It is funny when people ask if she's our only and we say no, she's our fifth. They go

DH would like another but I'm 46 now so I think we are pushing it!

Wow Elvislives, that's cool. I do get some strange reactions when people ask me if my LO is my first and I then go on to tell them that she is my 2nd and my first is 20. I really enjoyed having an only child with my eldest and because of the gap it's like having another only child....for now ;)
Are you hoping to have any more?
Whereabouts in Essex are you from FranSanDisco? I'm in Romford!

No Missy you don't have the biggest gap. My DD1 turned 21 a month before DD2 was born

Thought I wold try to resurrect this thread. I am 41 and have a baby girl of 7 weeks. My older daughter is 20!!
Do I have the biggest age gap between kids?? I have to say that most people mistake myself and eldest daughter for sisters....or at least that's what I like to think!! lol
I love being a mum all over again. New partner, 8 years my junior with no previous kids. I have said that this will be the only one but I am so in love with my LO that I have started thinking that one more could be an option, and seeing how many cool older mums are around having babies well into their 40s is really encouraging me!!
