Hello all! Daisy, at your selling. My nappies aren't selling at all! Will have to think of another moneymaking scheme!

Also, I was thinking of you this morning Daisy. You know you've trialled all of these nappies for M&B, well why not put your views on Mumsnet too for each nappy? I'm only suggesting this because Modern Baby are struggling to get review and stuff, and I've promised them one, but I've not used a wide variety of nappies and can't therefore compare.

AnnVan you're doing brilliantly. Those first six weeks are hell on earth (and still fresh in my mind as my DS is still newborn - 3 months!) but the 6 weeks mark makes a big difference. Things get much easier then. Strange but true. I counted the days after someone told me this (but lost count somewhere in the 5th week) and it's so true, it does get easier.
And you have my full sympathy with the baby blues too. In my case 'blue' wasn't strong enough to describe it - more like total and utter despair and out of control hysterics! But that passes too.

To nappies...we've had 3 nights of dry washables now! Sorry, that's not v. clear: we use washables at night but DS was waking up a bit wet. But not for the last 3 nights! Not sure what we've done differently.

Also, a mystery: one of my pop-ins has a white mark on the bamboo soaker and booster. I'd folded the booster, and the mark is where the fold was in the booster, and where the fold rested on the soaker if that makes sense. It looks as if I got bleach on it (but I don't even have bleach in the house). Any ideas what could have caused this?
Not the end of the world, but rather odd!

AnnVan - I have cried every day since I got home from hospital on Friday, and I don't even have a baby that screams, although I do think she has reflux as she does this awful back arching thing and crying thing at some of her feeds. just seeing her pain makes me cry.Don't feel bad, it's all about your hormones....

I am going to be starting on my reusables next week, i'm quite nervous! i noticed a horrible poo stain on a babygro today, i don't want that on my nappies - is it inevitable?

AnnVan · 25/09/2008 19:39

Lollipop - Sebastian has been in cloth most of yesterday and today - he's had one disposable on today. DP seems to be adjusting to the idea. He put a cloth nappy on under some newborn clothes today - I didn't think they would fit but they did!
I think itwas something I ate that affected Sebastian, he has been much calmer today. here's hoping that he stays calm tonight. He is currently awake but calm in his basket.

AnnVan, both of mine have had a bit of a colicky phase, starting around three weeks, but it has thankfully passed quickly. I wouldn't wish a colicky baby on anyone, so I hope he settles down soon. I found that cabbage and brussels sprouts were very very bad for my DD when I was BFing her in the early days, brocolli not so bad.

lollipopmum, no need to put up with poo stains; a bit of sun bleaching will soon get rid of it.....or even just hanging them outside, as it's UV light that works it's magic. Also good for carroty bibs and clothes. Try hanging the babygro out for a bit; it'll disappear.

Essie, I'll wait till the next good competition and then out all my reviews on . I didn't get to the PO today.....had MW, opticians and hairdressers and by the time I got in after the school run, I had no energy to get out again. Have to do a bank run tomorrow so I'll get them posted then

Have you tried listing them on www.usednappies.co.uk. I have sold a few there before with good results. I put them all on buy it now only and was only left with a couple of things not seeling out of 12 lots. I'm going to put the fuzzibunz and other pockets on there too.

All well with virgil (my bump); apparently I'm measuring a wee bit big (35cms and am 34 weeks) but she said baby feels the right size so it's probably all in the fluid. Can't wait to get my newborn fluff out!

Essie3 · 26/09/2008 10:48

Odd, last night's post isn't here! Ah well, never mind.

sunflower78 · 26/09/2008 17:12

annvan - Maia's started with her colics too, late afternoon for the last 3 days. her brother had them from week 3 for about 2-3 weeks (lots of car trips around London watching people going out to enjoy themselves, and us stuck in the traffic trying to soothe s colicky baby...). And still crying, guess the zombie-feeling is taking its toll.... Hope you'll feel better soon!

using part cloth every other day as only 5 I can use at the mo, though she's on the last set of poppers on the XS sandy's. Pop-in is very good too. Only leak so far with the fluffles - have to admit they look cute, but not too impressed so far... but maybe they'll get better. so guess I'll get some pop-ins once I sell the XS sandy's.

Mum's made me a great fleece sling and got all the mums at DS's school drooling over baby in it... guess I'll start making some myself and selling them to fund more nappies!

lollipop - how are you getting on?

MatNanPlus · 26/09/2008 23:05

Hi Everyone,

Glad the nappies are getting used and tho baby's are shouting they are also settling.

AnnVan · 28/09/2008 00:03

Ha!! how good is this - I went to DP's brother's 21st birthday do today. Sebastian was in cloth of course, and the same ladies who said I was crazy for choosing to use cloth, and predicting that I wouldn't really use them, were there, and in the end were saying 'those nappies must be good, it's the first time I've seen a newborn not have several changes of clothes' !! HA HA.
Sorry, they were all smirking and saying I was crazy and saying I would give up using the cloth, and now here they are saying how good they are for not leaking. la la la

LackaDAISYcal have just been trying to catch up with thread and noticed that you said your LO has eczema. Have you tried Aveeno cream for it? My dd was scratching her body so bad her skin got realy raw and bleeding. After a course of hydrocortosine (sp?) to clear redness I put this on morning and night and so far for over a month no rashes. I think it really good as I felt I had tried everything that was out there and this so far so good is helping

MatNanPlus · 28/09/2008 13:26

4andnotout · 29/09/2008 11:05

rusmum im selling loads of wraps cheap if you are interested. What size nappies do you need? I have all sizes as dd3 is 12 months and i have gone a bit overboard on nappies for dd4 due in 4 weeks! At last count i had 35 shaped nappies in size 1, 9 terry squares and thats without all dd3's nappies! We are getting more next week too from the council!

Oh No KOMH

Was it a reaction to the detergent?

lollipopmother · 29/09/2008 12:37

Sunflower - Elizabeth has been really sleepy and quiet for her first two weeks, but I think we're about to see what she can really do! I'm certain she has some sort of colic/wind/reflux but I have no idea which, she does this awful back arching thing at some of her feeds and she really cries with it. The internet says reflux if they arch their back, but she doesn't really have any of the other symptoms. I try and wind her and nothing ever comes out, but maybe I'm just crap at winding or i'm not doing it for long enough. Thankfully she's been sleeping for long periods through the night though, and she is a real darling, love her to pieces!

I tried a Sandy's on her this morning, it's too big - gutted! She's 8lb 3oz but she's tall and skinny, the legs even on the smallest poppers don't even touch her skin, and the same with the airflow wraps. I don't really know what to do now, I have loads of other nappies but they all rely on me using the same wraps and I don't think they fit even though the chart says the wraps should fit from 6lb.

sunflower78 · 29/09/2008 16:58

lollipop - sounds like what colicky DS used to do, thankfully it only lasted 2-3 wks... Maia, well, I think in her case it's because s.times it takes ages for her to burp so then she cries... and still just eating and eating, but not on settled routine yet - difficult with mum here who keeps on saying I should count myself lucky as my little sister was constantly crying for 1 year because of bad colic case, so will be more disciplined when she leaves... also got into the bad habit of falling asleep on me, even during the night, so basket/crib are hardly used... so different in DS case, he was in a brilliant routine from day 1, always in his crib... still, couldn't live without her!

Tried the Small bamboo sandy on her today too (they're sooooo soft..), but still can't use it as the smallest setting is still too big , though she's put on a lot of weight and XS sandys are just right atm... so the only really good fit a part from that is the pop-in, fluffles have been a disappointment so far... what other nappies have you got then?

Essie3 · 29/09/2008 17:20

Rusmum yes, I have nappies left over! I'm currently selling my Modern Baby size 1 nappies:
5 nappies, 1 newborn wrap and 1 small wrap @ £35.

I'm assuming you don't want all of my nappies and wraps?!
