...get in the way of you when you are in the supermarket dragging around a pram, trolley and fiddly child and then they sneer down at you with their basket full of organic lettuce, baguettes and mini-tampons while your trolley is loaded with nappies, a giant pot of Sudocrem and enough chocolate bars to re-sink the Titanic.

You then have to manoever around them while they continue said sneering.

God you can tell what sort of evening I have had, can't you? And I am embarrassed to admit that I used to be one of those women. I apologise to all you mums out there unreservedly.

Glad this thread has reached a happier place.

Well said Nina, good luck Aitch.

Good luck Aitch - I really hope things work out for you and your baby.

We all carry around a load of baggage that seeps into our posts and if people don't know our history they can pounce on us, mercilessly. I find, though, the longer I'm around MN, that there is a very deep reservoir of goodwill towards those who are honest with themselves and others.

Nina - I haven't had an issue with any of your posts on this thread - not your OP or any subsequent contributions. And having read your most recent posts I have really warmed to you (excuse me - I'm a bit jet lagged and overly familiar tonight).

Whilst you were probably sneered at by the woman you alluded to in your OP (I am not going to invalidate that), perhaps you are over sensitive and can over interpret at times. It's something I know about first hand. I tend to attribute the worst most base motives to people - in a kind of defiant self protective way.....sometimes I get it completely wrong and feel a chump (what I perceive to be a hard look / stare from a stranger actually turns out to be a friendly smile when I look closer)...other times I'm spot on.
