Why are things always ruined by uncivilsed people?

My DH has two weeks off work so started taking DS to a pre-school group last week. He started on the monday and DH said a couple of kids were mean to him, pushing him away from toys and ganging up on him.

On wednesday on the way there two boys ran up behind DS and started saying "woooo!" and putting their hands up like ghosts. DS got all upset and hid behind DH and apparantly DH and the kids mothers just laughed it off although DH was secretely annoyed that they didn't tell their kids off.
Thursday it happened again and DS went into the group crying his eyes out because of the ghost things on the way there so as they were walking home DH asked the women if they could have a word with their kids about scaring DS as its started to put him off the group. They apparantly grinned at each other but agreed

Anyway on Friday they were on their way there and apparantly as the women walked past DH they said "woooo!" in his ear and burst out laughing to each other DH burst out crying and they ended up coming home early and now both are saying they don't want to go anymore.

I'm so annoyed that a group of thugs are spoiling this for them. DH doesn't get much time off work as it is.

I'm debating whether I should take DS tomorow and tell the women to leave DS and DH alone or would this make it worse??? either way I don't want them to stop going, why should they?

DS is sensitive. I realise other kids wouldn't have been bothered by it or would maybe have even joined in but DS is not like that and surely just being asked to stop should be enough? Whether he's being over-sensitive or not?

allgonebellyup · 03/08/2008 18:26

no, we thought you meant your husband!!

CaptFabioHiltsCatInTheCooler · 03/08/2008 18:26

wwWWWwWwwooooOOOOoOOOOOOOOoOOOOO!!!!

Was it like that?
Is your ds a very pale child?

CaptFabioHiltsCatInTheCooler · 03/08/2008 18:26

OK, so who sobbed?

wannaBe · 03/08/2008 18:27

dh burst out crying? sorry but.. I think your dh needs to grow a backbone.

No wonder women are taking the piss out of him if this is the reaction they get.

Making a ghost noise is hardly acting like a thug is it?

cornsilk · 03/08/2008 18:27

Were they from ghost busters?

lulumama · 03/08/2008 18:28

i presume the children are 3 -4 years old? so labelling them as thugs for being a bit giddy is over the top. your DH could have said, nicely', please don;t make ghost noises to DS'

it is not a reason to keep him off pre school

Pennies · 03/08/2008 18:28

You did say in your OP that you DH burst out crying which make this seem rather .

Best thing to do is to join in the joke and show DS that something that is a little bit scary can also be a little bit fun.

PlasterCaster · 03/08/2008 18:29

He did ask them nicely. They're just being bitches by the sounds of it.

The kids are 5.

wannaBe · 03/08/2008 18:29

ah ok it was ds not dh.

Either way though, your ds is going to have to learn to deal with these types of situations. The other boys were just playing, making ghost noises doesn't, IMO, amount to bullying or thuggery, and if he is kept away from other children because of how he reacts to them then he is going to find it very hard as he grows up.

Pennies · 03/08/2008 18:29

FGS, answer the question - who blubbed?

cocolepew · 03/08/2008 18:31

If the woman said 'whoo' to DS why did your Dh not say anything? And why doesn't he want to go back?

CaptFabioHiltsCatInTheCooler · 03/08/2008 18:32

What's the name of that Nicole Kidman film, where she's in the house with the kids and she can't open the curtains, and their father is away in the war?

Along the same lines, are you married to Bruce Willis?

ShinyPinkShoes · 03/08/2008 18:33

The Others

wannaBe · 03/08/2008 18:33

are you sure it was ghost noises and not goat noises? new to mn I see

PlasterCaster · 03/08/2008 18:35

DS cried on wednesday and thursday. DH got a bit upset on Friday because the woman made him jump and he dropped his drink.

I just think that if the kids were asked to pack it in they should learn to do so. Surely they should be taught to respect when someone has had enough?

The woman didn't do noises to DS, just the kids.

OP posts:
cocolepew · 03/08/2008 18:35

Tell us who cried.

Sorry about the 'who' hope it didn't scare you.

cocolepew · 03/08/2008 18:36

NO! DH was upset! Tell him to grow a pair. FFS

PlasterCaster · 03/08/2008 18:37

Yes I am new to mumsnet. I'm suprised to see this is just a big joke to everyone tbh, I wonder how you'd feel if it was your kids crying and left upset.

OP posts:
CaptFabioHiltsCatInTheCooler · 03/08/2008 18:37

Your dh needs to chillax.

otoh perhaps it wasn't WWWwwWWOOOOOO! spooky ghost noises, but WooHoo! hubbahubba noises.

And your dh should save his ddrinking for the pub.

lulumama · 03/08/2008 18:38

your DH got upset.

i am sorry to hear that, but how will he cope in a real emergency or nasty situation if some pre schoolers making ghost noises upset him

h'oookkkaaaaaaay then

wannaBe · 03/08/2008 18:38

ah dh was upset. hmmm tbh I think he needs to get a grip. Assuming this is for real that is and you're not just a troll.
