How old is the child who coloured this picture in?

I’ve seen these threads on here before and now I’m interested in hearing the replies for my own child.

I drew the aeroplane, my child did the rest - colouring in, extra squiggles on top, selecting the colours and where to put them. It’s felt tip.

How old so you think this child might have been?

Once we get a few replies I will come back and share the reasons I’m asking.

Competitive colouring in?

This is why God made children grow up so fast: so we don't all go loopy assessing what their scrawl and scribble might foretell about their futures.

Thank goodness.

I thought between 5 and 7 so your LO has done amazingly for their age.

DD coloured like this at 3/4 but she takes after her dad and is very artistically inclined.

I'd have been colouring like this at 7/8, not artistic at all and didn't have the attention span to stay in the lines, I'd get distracted by something going on around me and the pen would go everywhere 🤣

I don't think it's possible to be ahead/behind in colouring. It's just colouring.

It's honestly awful. And it's clear what you're trying to do and why you think it's oh so funny. If you genuinely do think colouring in is a creative endeavour at 3 and a half, congratulations on your future failure.

You made this post because you thought it was hilarious that you'd coloured in an aeroplane purple so it looks like a dick emoji.

To be honest, the colouring in is very poor.

Well. Its just a daft Aubergine emoji gag. And colouring in? Who drew the plane/penis? Which is pretty poor to begin with....

What? Why are you quoting me?

Bunnycute23 · 22/07/2025 00:29

BusWankers · 21/07/2025 19:56

Why does it matter?

Because it's a penis emoji. AND women love those.

My apologies. I thought I was quoting the OP. So sorry.

Haha yeah I mean you go to parties and then I start worrying why my kid’s so bad at recognising alphabets 🤣

I found that once I pointed out the scribbles were in fact shit then my dc suddenly improved with this kind of thing. My DD would have done that at around 2. Ds at 6 but he has always preferred what I call 'action drawing' where he will midway through colouring the plane have it shot at, and then he will fire back etc etc until the entire page is black.

Lol. This is my son. We were drawing cars today. I draw the requests and he shoots pen out the back side going zoom zoom zoom zoom. Or throws fire at the fire engine.

In a way I thought this is actually very modern art. Expression 😂

anikarice · 22/07/2025 00:47

my son is 3 and does similar

IainTorontoNSW · 22/07/2025 00:49

Most typically, 6yo to 7yo ... Taught kids these ages for 40+ years.

Thanks for the replies. The child is 3.5.
I just posted because (1) I’ve seen others do it and thought, why not? (2) My son has shown zero interest in colouring or drawing and now, all of a sudden he seems to want to really try and concentrates on it well. So his ‘artwork’ has gone from just a few squiggles on the page to (what I thought was) relatively neat colouring in just a short space of time.

I know a lot of 3.5yr olds and even 3yr olds that colour completely in the lines but nearly all are girls. The more he practices the better it will get and sounds like he’s super motivated! Pens also have less tactile input so I bet if you switched him to colouring pencils he would improve very quickly!

Nah. Whatever the OP’s intentions with this thread, it’s not that.
