Nursery lying

Hello so this afternoon I went to pick up my little one from the nursery the had radish and they told me my daughter didn't like it and my daughter 4 year old heard that and came all the way home saying that she liked and they even eat it with butter. What's your thoughts please mummies? I am really upset on why the hell they lied! I just feel they are constantly testing my parental skills! Thank you

Am assuming this is a joke post and therefore ok to respond accordingly. If it isn't a joke then, OP, please do give some thought to why you feel it is a test of your parenting and others feel it is a wind up. Especially if you feel like this with other aspects of parenting/life that others might not ascribe to malice but you do.

My Ds at nursery -

what did you have for lunch ( bear in mind I have a menu )

chicken with red bits

Me- peppers?

Ds - no I don’t like peppers ?

action required - to give Ds red peppers at home call it chicken and red bits .

life can be as hard as you make it .

Umm tbh our nursery sometimes say that my dd has eaten certain foods (on the app) and I think...surely not, she hates that?? And sure enough, she tells me she didn't eat it. I believe her but I've never thought it was an issue?
I just assumed she's dropped it or one of the other kids has eaten it and they assumed she had 🤷‍♀️

Serious question, are you ok? How are you feeling in yourself? I ask because your reaction seems like a wild over reaction to a difference in accounts between what was said by nursery and your child in relation to a very very very minor thing.

Ottersmith · 08/05/2025 22:50

This thread is complete bullshit.

Thunderpants88 "Raddish isn’t something I would even eat because it’s burnt but go ahead and see what happens."

How can it be burnt? It's eaten raw.

aster10 · 08/05/2025 22:57

Here’s another recipe - slice some cucumbers, slice some radishes (one long cucumber per pack of radishes I think, or half a pack), chop some dill, add sour cream and mix, it’s not bad.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 08/05/2025 22:57

Putting butter on a radish is a known way of eating radishes. The butter takes the sting out of them. I remember my dad was doing this in the 70s

No idea about what was going on with the nursery. As she's 4, isn't she leaving soon anyway?

Literallywingingit · 08/05/2025 22:59

Is this a windup?

Yes this ! I was just wondering how we approach this... are they buttered like jersey potatoes ? I only ever buy them because they are sometimes cheap and fill out a salad..i genuinely didn't know you could cook them....

Two ways to serve radishes with butter:
1 Dip them in butter
2 Pan-fry them with butter and other stuff

Apparently there is butter radish is a French thing 🤔 I am upset yes because my daughter come all the way home screaming at me like I said something... plus I feel like they are testing me!

They weren't.

Russiandollsaresofullofthemselves · 08/05/2025 23:02

It’s absolutely nuts to get that worked up over a raddish! I don’t think the nursery set up an elaborate lie to wind you up. it could be a genuine mistake given they work with a lot of children. simply correct them and move on.

Copiousamountsofpulses · 08/05/2025 20:41

How does one even butter a radish???

And why?!

Tangerinenets · 08/05/2025 23:03

I couldn’t get worked up about this honestly 🙄

tinygingermum · 08/05/2025 23:05

My guess is that another child that was sat close to yours didn’t like it and that the staff member got slightly confused about which child did and didn’t like it. They wouldn’t have deliberately set out to lie to you over a radish, I also think you are over reacting.

Woodywoodpecker321 · 08/05/2025 23:05

This is a very trivial thing to get upset about. Could likely be a mix up. I very much doubt the nursery would have reason to lie about a radish.

MooMooMoooove · 08/05/2025 23:05

What in the actual fuck 😂😂

JohnMajorsChicken · 08/05/2025 23:05

My thing is why would they lied?!
Most rational answer; they made a mistake

I am really upset on why the hell they lied! I just feel they are constantly testing my parental skills!
Highly, highly doubtful!!

Plus what would you mummies do about this What's your thoughts please mummies?
Please stop calling us mummies, it's giving me the heebeejeebies! 🤮

AllrightNowBaby · 08/05/2025 23:06

I’m worried now that I may have failed the radish test….
Oh God, my life is ruined 😾

What have the radish police had to say about this? Surely you’ve informed them OP?

ButteredRadishes · 08/05/2025 21:37

You do, it's a thing in France.

Is op and her DD in France?
It's a very odd snack to give a child in the UK.
Although this thread is odd as fuck!

RobertJohnsonsShoes · 08/05/2025 23:08

Take her out. Don’t take her out. Meh.

Lavender14 · 08/05/2025 23:10

I mean, my child came home the other day saying a little girl who I know wasn't in that day bit him. He also told me he and the other 2 year olds went wall climbing ... they aren't the most credible witnesses so I do tend to take things he says with a pinch of salt.

Besides it's possible they've served it and your little one hasn't recognised what it was and has eaten it. Or just been extra hungry that day. I see absolutely no reason for you to be annoyed at this or to presume they're lying.

Gazelda · 08/05/2025 23:10

I’m just imagining the nursery parents’ whatsapp group right now.

radishes
butter
lying staff
repercussions
meeting with the manager
lessons will be learned
