Hello so this afternoon I went to pick up my little one from the nursery the had radish and they told me my daughter didn't like it and my daughter 4 year old heard that and came all the way home saying that she liked and they even eat it with butter. What's your thoughts please mummies? I am really upset on why the hell they lied! I just feel they are constantly testing my parental skills! Thank you

Most ridiculous thing I’ve read on here and there are a lot of ridiculous things written!

It's so entertaining though 😊

I think she’s just mixed up with radishes and something else, you don’t butter a radish. I really wouldn’t give it a another thought to be honest!

You do, it's a thing in France.

Read the thread! Apparently you do. I'm going to try it. Most things are better with butter...

I'm just agog that OP is this upset over whether a person thought their child likes radishes or not.

My 5 year old will tell anyone who listens she loves tuna... But put it in front of her and she won't eat it....

thismummyslife · 08/05/2025 21:40

@ButteredRadishes @YouRemindMe0fTheBabe i stand corrected, sorry couldn’t be bothered reading the whole thread! I agree about the butter theory ha ha x

preimenopauserulesmylife · 08/05/2025 21:40

After the rubbish day I've had, I never would have thought I'd end it laughing about a buttered radish.
Thank you. It's cheered me up no end. 🤣

PurpleChrayn · 08/05/2025 21:42

What a bizarre thing to be worked up about. Are you mentally ok?

JoyousEagle · 08/05/2025 21:45

Jojomamabee · 08/05/2025 20:34

No my daughter said specifically they even put butter on it! My daughter is not lying on this one because she give more details... I know my daughter! And the nursery did not confused with another child they know her since 1year old she is now 4. My thing is why would they lied?! Plus what would you mummies do about this?

I wouldn’t do anything because I’d have forgotten about it before I left the building.

Report the radish falsehoods to ofsted or the new Pope.

Dear Jesus....tell the Pope 😂 I just spat tea out my nose 😂

Sheepsheeps · 08/05/2025 21:47

Really.....?!?!
I once told my teacher (when at infants school) that me and my bff went to the pub at the weekend with my dad and had a pint of beer each. When my teacher quizzed me I remember panicking, thinking I would get in trouble and swearing blind it was true!!! Children lie all the time.....
If you're that bothered, I'd just send the nursery an email asking if your daughter liked the raddish covered in butter that they fed her yesterday and see what they say 🤷‍♀️

TiggyTomCat · 08/05/2025 21:48

I seriously think the nursery have better things to do than lie about your daughter and test you. It will be a simple mix up and nothing more and you are being paranoid like it's some kind of conspiracy. Really it isn't.

Sheepsheeps · 08/05/2025 21:48

Oh and please stop referring to us as 'mummies' it's beyond cringe.....

Porttalbot · 08/05/2025 21:49

Jojomamabee · 08/05/2025 20:46

Apparently there is butter radish is a French thing 🤔 I am upset yes because my daughter come all the way home screaming at me like I said something... plus I feel like they are testing me!

"my daughter come all the way home screaming at me like I said something"

There's your issue. Fix that.

Is she highly strung? I wonder where she gets that from?

PansyPottering · 08/05/2025 21:49

ButteredRadishes · 08/05/2025 21:37

You do, it's a thing in France.

What do you do? Just spread it on?

🫜 I had no idea there was a radish emoji until this thread.

Applesonthelawn · 08/05/2025 21:50

I never knew you can fry radishes in butter, with the stalks/leaves, add salt and pepper and a drizzle of honey. That sounds much nicer than eating them raw with a blob of butter on.

ChickalettasGiblets · 08/05/2025 21:50

Thanks for the lols OP, this is the best thing I’ve read all day 😂

put this one into mumsnet classics!!

ChaChaChaChanges · 08/05/2025 21:53

Mental

PinkCentipede · 08/05/2025 21:54

I work in quite a ‘posh’ nursery. We had cottage pie today. We’ve seriously got to up our game if we’re competing with nurseries offering buttered radish.

OP, TBH honest - the nursery lying would not be my first thought. It would be what the hell is buttered radish, why on earth is it on the menu - and how many 4 year olds are wolfing that down with great gusto??

JLou08 · 08/05/2025 21:55

You're overthinking it, they have either got them mixed up with another child or your DC is mistaken on what it was that she liked and ate with butter. There is no reason whatsoever for staff to lie about her not liking radish.

Copiousamountsofpulses · 08/05/2025 20:40

Who is taking 'butteredradish' for their new username then?

Argh, I tried , someone was obviously quicker than me 😁

PinkPonyClubb · 08/05/2025 21:56

I am a reception teacher. If you are this upset about a radish you have no idea what awaits you next year!

I would sit the teacher down on a chair with a swinging light bulb above her head and interrogate her until she confesses to the lie

OR

Sit teacher and child across from each other at a table and make them stare each other out until one of them breaks and admits they are the liar.

Don't delay, this is a serious matter. Test them before they test u.

Gettygrip · 08/05/2025 21:58

Wow what a load of tripe !!

Bumdrops · 08/05/2025 21:59

Let me get this straight …

child has been in this nursery for 3 years
she is due to start reception later this year

things have generally been fine,

UNTIL ….

today.
the Test is ON
lets see how the mum navigates the radish test

omg it all kicks off
child likes the radish,
gaslighting about the radish

mums on the ball, she can tell she is being tested on the radish

how will it all end ??? 🤪

PinkCentipede · 08/05/2025 21:59

I’m also trying to
imagine passing a 4 year old in the street screaming ‘I WANT BUTTERED RADISH’ to their Mum…
