Nursery lying

Hello so this afternoon I went to pick up my little one from the nursery the had radish and they told me my daughter didn't like it and my daughter 4 year old heard that and came all the way home saying that she liked and they even eat it with butter. What's your thoughts please mummies? I am really upset on why the hell they lied! I just feel they are constantly testing my parental skills! Thank you

Why do you think they would lie about your child liking/not liking a particular food. I'd imagine your child didn't eat it and/or make a comment about not liking it. Much more likely she's saying somethings contradictory to her earlier actions

whynotmereally · 08/05/2025 20:25

I d assume they mixed her up with another child.

I d assume they mixed her up with another child.

Me too. It wouldn’t cross my mind that they were lying about a radish preference.

I think you should take her out of the nursery if this is the amount of trust you have in them.

You can’t allow people that you think lie about radishes to look after your four year old. Whether they did lie or not is immaterial now.

Jojomamabee · 08/05/2025 20:34

No my daughter said specifically they even put butter on it! My daughter is not lying on this one because she give more details... I know my daughter! And the nursery did not confused with another child they know her since 1year old she is now 4. My thing is why would they lied?! Plus what would you mummies do about this?

I’ve already said what I would do. I’d take her out of the nursery as you do not trust the staff as you think they are lying to you. It would be irresponsible to take her back to be cared for by people who you think have lied to you.

2chocolateoranges · 08/05/2025 20:36

I wouldn’t do anything, it’s so blooming trivial!

Jojomamabee · 08/05/2025 20:36

She is in that nursery since she was 1y had couple issues before but they never lied to me before...

Honestly does it really matter?!

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 08/05/2025 20:37

Honestly, @Jojomamabee - take a few deep breaths. It sounds like a mix up or a misunderstanding, not a lie. I have never heard of buttering radishes, so is it possible your dd is thinking of a different food? Or is it possible that the nursery have made an easy mistake - another child didn’t like the radishes and they’ve got them mixed up?

loveyoutothemoonandtosaturn · 08/05/2025 20:38

i genuinely would not give this a second thought. Missed communication somewhere but why does it matter so much. If this was my only worry I'd be landed.

Copiousamountsofpulses · 08/05/2025 20:40

Who is taking 'butteredradish' for their new username then?

Copiousamountsofpulses · 08/05/2025 20:41

How does one even butter a radish???

Sunshineclouds11 · 08/05/2025 20:41

It's not that deep

WorkCleanRepeat · 08/05/2025 20:42

Accusing them of lying over a misunderstanding about a radish is a bit strong!

Ponderingwindow · 08/05/2025 20:43

How much longer is your child in this nursery? Are you essentially counting down the days until she starts reception?

if so, I would do absolutely nothing. Even if you are a bit unhappy with her care providers, this incident does not warrant two major changes in such a short time.

I have to assume that you have underlying reasons for thinking that they lied about the food and not just that they misspoke. It’s an absolutely ludicrous thing to lie about. If you have other concerns and your child has more than a year left in nursery, I would move her.

Mrsttcno1 · 08/05/2025 20:43

God you need to get a grip OP. This is such a non issue it’s actually crazy

Jojomamabee · 08/05/2025 20:46

Apparently there is butter radish is a French thing 🤔 I am upset yes because my daughter come all the way home screaming at me like I said something... plus I feel like they are testing me!

Putting butter on a radish seems very strange. Why would a nursery present a 4yo a whole radish with a nob of butter on the side? However it seems you’d prefer to think there is some conspiracy around your child’s food preferences, rather than contemplating that your 4yo (who presumably has never identified a radish before) has got a little mixed up!

Jojomamabee · 08/05/2025 20:48

She's going to reception this year....

Good luck to the teachers at her primary school! 🤦‍♀️

findmeaunicorn · 08/05/2025 20:50

Could it be that he likes it at nursery and not at home? My daughter is a bit funny like this…… eats some things at nursery, and won’t at home 🤣

sciaticafanatica · 08/05/2025 20:50

Honestly, this is a non issue
