Nursery lying

Hello so this afternoon I went to pick up my little one from the nursery the had radish and they told me my daughter didn't like it and my daughter 4 year old heard that and came all the way home saying that she liked and they even eat it with butter. What's your thoughts please mummies? I am really upset on why the hell they lied! I just feel they are constantly testing my parental skills! Thank you

You’ve been given two versions of the events, and the one you feel is most plausible involves someone buttering a radish?

I know it’s hard leaving your children at nursery and putting your trust in others but I honestly don’t think this is worth worrying over, sorry OP.

My daughter is not mixed up I show her pics

She’s probably saying that she liked it to make you happy. You’re interrogating a 4yo over a radish and showing her pictures of them. This is batshit.

ninjahamster · 08/05/2025 20:51

I’d be more concerned about butter on radish? Why? Radishes are lush, they don’t need spoiling with butter! Talk about adding fats unnecessarily…

misses point

I d assume they mixed her up with another child.

This. We were told our daughter went out and played football today but she’s not in the photos, but she is in the photos of the group who went to the park. They got it mixed up, they look after loads of kids. It’s not a big deal.

No my daughter said specifically they even put butter on it! My daughter is not lying on this one because she give more details... I know my daughter! And the nursery did not confused with another child they know her since 1year old she is now 4. My thing is why would they lied?! Plus what would you mummies do about this?

Report the radish falsehoods to ofsted or the new Pope.

Who is taking 'butteredradish' for their new username then?

Butter on a radish w a grind of salt is def a thing. A delicious thing.
Anyway, why do you think they are lying about this? Is it not more likely there have been some sort of misunderstanding?

emmatherhino · 08/05/2025 20:53

They've probably just made a mistake. They have a whole group of kiddos and sometimes minor details might get mixed up. There's no reason for them to lie and the fact you've immediately jumped to them lying other than a minor mix up says how you feel about them.

You clearly don't trust the staff if you're making such a big deal over this so its probably best you move your child.

SilverButton · 08/05/2025 20:54

What would I do about this? Honestly, absolutely nothing. It's a complete non issue. Just some confusion or a misunderstanding.

ButteredRadish · 08/05/2025 20:54

Goodness me…… OP you’re in for a wild ride at primary school if this is how you react to radish drama

PerfectPennyKilledMyHusband · 08/05/2025 20:56

What do you think the nursery would be trying to achieve by lying about something this trivial?

JosieB68 · 08/05/2025 20:56

I can see why teachers are leaving the profession especially from early years! Wow 🤦‍♀️

Mooselooseinmyhoose · 08/05/2025 20:58

OP in what way do you think nursery is "testing" you. What is the test and to what aim?

WhiteCloudd · 08/05/2025 20:58

Maybe she made a reaction face and they misinterpreted it as a dislike.

Showing her pictures and feeding into it is making it too much of a big deal for her. She says she likes it, you say great she’ll we try it at home too, the end, simple as that!

MinecraftnotMeinCraft · 08/05/2025 20:59

In the kindest way possible, I think you’re overthinking this. It sounds like a mix up, and yes your daughter was upset, but she will get over it and it’ll be forgotten soon. The nursery staff will have just misremembered. I know I would if I was looking after lots of kids at once.

Lostworlds · 08/05/2025 20:59

I don’t really understand the whole putting butter on a radish.

I think they have mixed her up with another child, it happens and as long as it isn’t anything serious then it’s not really a big deal.

NowIveSeenEverything · 08/05/2025 21:00

It's all fun and games until someone lies about a radish. They'll be testing you about turnips next...

Stickortwigs · 08/05/2025 21:01

Sometimes on the all nursery put ‘ate all’ of a certain food. It’s the one thing that DS doesn’t eat and it’s just because they get muddled up between children. It’s honestly not a sign of anything untoward.

Notashamed13 · 08/05/2025 21:01

Radish is so amazingly easy to grow but grim...... may have to try it avec le beurre......🤔

Supporthelittleguys · 08/05/2025 21:03

Go and buy a bag of radishes and a pound of butter, then we’re gonna find out the truth.

user1471453601 · 08/05/2025 21:03

As a rule, in my experience, people lie for a reason, usually a reason that is advantageous to them.

What possible reason could the nursery have? Your child doesn't appear to have a reason either. Because in both the nursery case and your childs, what does it matter? Like radishes, don't like radishes. No big deal.

So my conclusion would be, mistake.

What on earth would they be testing you on?!

My three year old often tells one person he likes something then someone else he doesn't. He regularly does it with food where he'll eat it at nursery but not like it at home or vice versa. Could it be something like that?
