The fabric is showing through and these shoes are only a month old :( does anyone know how I could possibly fix them as I have twins and don’t fancy buying another pair of trainers I would rather try and fix
thanks in advance!!

Probably best to get some unbranded trainers next time.

ThejoyofNC · 08/04/2025 17:41

They're not brand new. Your child is a toddler, what do you expect? There's no way to fix them, they aren't just scuffed, the fabric is missing.

I say that as a person who happily dresses my toddler in expensive stuff, but don't grumble when it gets ruined.

Mochynpinc · 08/04/2025 17:42

are they little Nike dunks? They are a lovely fashion trainer but probably not the most durable for toddlers playing! I’m not sure there’s a lot you can do with those scuffs. I’d do as pp said and buy some cheaper unbranded ones or get some more hard wearing ones for toddlers

You can’t fix those.

DancingNotDrowning · 08/04/2025 17:43

There’s nothing you can do to fix them, toddler shoes always get scuffed on toes if they okay outside. They’ll have grown out of them in a few weeks so I wouldn’t worry.

GildedRage · 08/04/2025 17:43

Besides growing quickly toddlers can be hard on clothing.
Best to “save” branded items for special occasions, even then if a balance bike is involved expect toes to be trashed.

imip · 08/04/2025 17:44

That’s not scuffed. Scuffed feels like a mark you can remove. That damage is unrepairable.

Yourethebeerthief · 08/04/2025 17:44

You need to buy decent shoes with a proper toe guard like Bopy or Start Rite etc. With a 3 year old who’s constantly scuffing his feet riding his bike and scooter, I wouldn’t buy something like Nike.

TomatoSandwiches · 08/04/2025 17:44

If you take them to a cobblers they may be able to put a rubber cap on the front, otherwise I doubt you can save them.

FortyElephants · 08/04/2025 17:46

They don't need fixing, they are still functional, just look a bit scruffy.

frenchnoodle · 08/04/2025 17:47

Most people buy their young children cheap clothes for this very reason. They get ruined, pee on poo on them, grass stained and covered in holes.

Kids shoes get like this, you child can still wear them, no one will care.

PooksBear · 08/04/2025 17:52

Scuff the other twins so they match?

sunbum · 08/04/2025 17:53

unlike the other poster on your thread I think they are cute shoes and would have bought them 😄 My teenage boys live in Nikes as I find them really hard wearing. They get one pair every couple of years and many are still going strong. More importantly, if you are a Nike club member an duse student discount they are by far the cheapest way for me to buy trainers for them that they will wear and will last. But their feet arent growing much anynore.

In your shoes (sorry!) I would order some bright pink polish or shoe dye off amazon and go over them with that, it will hardly show after that. Does the twin have the same ones?

Cherlyynn · 08/04/2025 17:56

Thankyou so much for your message, I’m not grumbling I just want to save money and fix them 🤣 no point wasting money on other shoes although I will only save them now for occasions not every day use!!
I was thinking pink nail varnish to match so it hides it!!

Can you get Totectors these days? And in those sizes?

ThejoyofNC · 08/04/2025 17:58

Nail polish will make an absolute mess of them.

AprilMadness · 08/04/2025 18:01

I'm surprised at how ruined they are after only a month. When mine were teenagers they had Nike Air Force 1 for school as they were the best and most hard wearing of any school shoes I'd used in the past.

In fact most of the years had them.

If I was you I'd take then back to the shop, I don't think that's reasonable damage for month old trainers.

They might laugh in your face but they may replace. Worth a punt I'd say.

Toddlers crawl around while playing hence the toes always get scuffed up.

Thankyou so much! Great advice, I really appreciate your help! Will order now, thankyou again!!

A month old isn’t brand new. They also look perfectly fine to wear.
I’d recommend cheap trainers for toddlers because they really don’t last

TizerorFizz · 08/04/2025 18:14

@Cherlyynn Do you not get their feet measured and shoes that have different widths? They have obviously crawled around in those. So maybe cheap indoor shoes and fitted ones when you go out?

GoldDuster · 08/04/2025 18:14

Specific shoes for toddlers have a "bumper" on the toe to protect them from this happening, due to the way that toddlers move their bodies. They're down as much as they're upright.

I wouldn't paint nail polish on them, I don't think that's going to help, luckily their feet grow like the clappers at this age so they'll be in a new pair before too long. Try something with a toe guard.

Toddlers don’t wear shoes out the same way teenagers do
