Should I let my 17 year old get filler?

Hi, I'm looking for some advice on whether I should let my 17 year old get a small amount of lip filler? She has begged me for years so when she was 16 I said we would look into it. She is a straight A student who is extremely respectful. If I allow it I have more control over it rather then me saying no and she gets it done cheap and secretly. PLEASE HELP

Of course not.

Thank you for getting back to me, why?

No it would be ridiculous.

Dontbelieveaword · 04/05/2023 14:14

Instead of asking us why not, why don't you tell us why you are even remotely considering it. Her being a good student is irrelevant, BTW.

muminneedofadviceplz · 04/05/2023 14:14

please elaborate

No. She is only 17 and imo this would be the start of a slippery slope. I do not know anyone who has just had one phial of filler.

isthewashingdryyet · 04/05/2023 14:16

Because it looks awful, disfiguring young women to look like trout.
It also never stops at just one little thing, see Carol Vorderman etc

And self confidence comes from within, not what we look like, ask Katie Piper.

Narco · 04/05/2023 14:16

because lipfillers look stupid and they always end up going too far and end up looking like a freak

muminneedofadviceplz · 04/05/2023 14:16

She has asked me for years. It is important because she is an extremely hard worker. If teenagers want something they will get it anyway its in there nature. Surely its safer if im involved.

No.

BreviloquentBastard · 04/05/2023 14:17

Absolutely not. She's far too young to be injecting stuff into herself to presumably try and look like these awful artificial Instagram creatures we've inexplicably decided to worship as a society.

I'd want to talk to her about her self esteem and why she felt the need to change the way she looks at such a young age. I'm so glad this shit wasn't normal when I was 17 because God knows what damage I would have done to myself in the persuit of unattainable standards of beauty.

Choppyskop · 04/05/2023 14:17

I’m from a city where lip fillers are rife. I’ve seen it done well once or twice, where it’s very subtle. Otherwise it looks awful. It looks unnatural and absurd

DrMarciaFieldstone · 04/05/2023 14:17

What was the point of asking if you’ve made up your mind?

It’s always obvious, and no-one ever stops at once.

rubyslippers · 04/05/2023 14:17

No
i wouldn’t do this or allow it
at just 17 her body and face are still maturing and developing
these procedures are not without risk and as they are temporary require topping up
there’s no way at 17 I would start on this journey

MrsMitford3 · 04/05/2023 14:18

absolutely not

Why has she asked for years?
do you have any filler etc?

Perfect28 · 04/05/2023 14:19

Sounds like you've already made up your mind op? Why not just tell her when she is an adult (18) she can make these choices herself.

User4670 · 04/05/2023 14:19

It would be a no from me, I would be concerned about side effects. Apart from that I don’t like the look of fillers. I would try to help my daughter improve her self confidence in other ways and to embrace her own natural beauty. I don’t want her to have any cosmetic procedures.

Dontbelieveaword · 04/05/2023 14:19

You've already made your mind up so why ask?
If DC wants to work hard for it snd pay for it herself when she's 18, so be it, but you don't have to facilitate it

Dalekjastninerels · 04/05/2023 14:19

No way!

Mellymelson · 04/05/2023 14:20

I think it’s fine. I had filler first when I was 17 and it helped my confidence 100%, no regrets whatsoever and I’m so glad my mum allowed me to get it done. And I’ve only had it once more since and I’m 26!

muminneedofadviceplz · 04/05/2023 14:20

No I have not had any lip filler?
