Completely get being protective but also love seeing family get to cuddle little one. I’ve mostly been relaxed and happy to let our families have a cuddle or feed. However, I have also been on edge at times - my nephew (not quite 3) wanted a hold. Let’s just say I don’t 100% trust his parents to keep him calm and well behaved. So to want to hold the baby made me naturally feel a surge of protectiveness. Luckily all fine but was very glad to get her back safely into her pram!

Think it would have been easier with my family but it was the in-laws, a number of whom I'd never met before and didn't want to come across as rude.
Ah that's interesting to know @muminlndn , she feeds regular but a couple of nights last week my partner bottle fed expressed milk at around midnight so I went 9pm-3am ish without feeding her.

TMI but oh man I've tried to wean myself off the lactulose (DD is two weeks tomorrow) and I'm regretting it now. I don't want my bowels to get used to too soft stools but it's just so uncomfortable to go while your pelvic floor is shot to pieces 😭

@TeddyBeans sorry sent post too early by accident!!

Do you think you have a third? I hope my girls are best friends but I'm already thinking I want a third 😂 just not massively keen on pregnancy, labour and birth again

Thank you! What did the HV say?

@Suchardchoccy no, we're done at 2. I was like you after I had DS though, pretty much as soon as he was out I wanted another 🤣

I stopped doing the salt yesterday because it looked like her belly button was getting worse. Midwife checked it today as part of her 10 day check and she said it was absolutely fine and the salt suggestion was very odd. We're just going to leave it alone now and see what happens. Can still call triage up til she's 28 days old about it if it worries me later on

So we are on day 18 and finally we have named babyboy Lennox.

He is feeding so much to the point he had his first sick today from over feeding. He's gained so much weight little chunk!

TeddyBeans · 14/03/2023 18:19

Izzy got signed off from the midwives today, she's gone from 7lbs 15 to 8lbs 9 🤣 we've got some chunky babies on this thread! They're happy with her belly button and said the salt treatment is very outdated and they don't recommend it so I won't be doing that again! It does look better today, I haven't touched it since yesterday morning

@TeddyBeans yes I still can't believe I gave birth to a 8.4lb baby 🤣. I'm still not signed off having some mental health worries so staying on for a bit longer under their care.

TeddyBeans · 14/03/2023 20:59

@Saltandpepperr DS was an 8lbs 4oz baby! It's a very good weight, you should be proud of yourself 😁 hope you're feeling a bit more like yourself soon ❤️

@TeddyBeans @Suchardchoccy i think there is something hormonal that makes you want another baby just after having one - I had it 5 years ago after DS2 and have it now after DS3 despite him definitely being our last!!

im struggling a bit after 10 days in hospital with little Thomas on antibiotics for an infection and some scares around meningitis on the way. We got home on Sunday night (he was born 2/3) and the adrenaline that was keeping me going has completely gone. Had a massive cry to the health visitor today. Feel massively on edge that there will be something else wrong and monitoring his breathing and temp regularly. Just want to relax and enjoy my last baby!

Hello lovely ladies I have been AWOL in my baby bubble but all is well this end just trying to get used to having 3 children 🤣

@Thirdtimesacharm3 oh there definitely is, the urge after we had DS was incredible. Weirdly I haven't had it so far this time and DD was 2 weeks old yesterday. Hope T is feeling better now he's got antibiotics in him and you can get to the point where you can start enjoying him ❤️ it must be so hard when they're poorly as such a young age

@Babynum2 enjoy your bubble! It doesn't last nearly long enough

Hi everyone! I’ve just seen this new group. Nice idea thanks @TeddyBeans.

@Thirdtimesacharm3 that sounds so tricky, I hope everything settles down for you quickly and you can relax more and enjoy your baby soon.

i definitely can’t relate to wanting another one so soon though 😂 I keep reminding myself to enjoy the good and the bad of the newborn phase as I’m definitely not having a third.

Will get baby boy weighed later, he initially lost enough for us to have to top up with formula but seems to be gaining nicely now. I am moving more towards formula and less BF though but I think I’m ok with it.

How are the other littles going with feeding and sleep? We had two nights with sleep stretches of 4 hours but now back to 2-3 hour maximum. Really persevering with getting him into his cot at night too and he seems to be starting to happily stay in there for longer stretches.

We’re going to register his birth today too 🙂 we have to travel to a different borough as the hospital I was supposed to deliver at was closed when I went into labour so we had to go to a different one! That was a bit of a shock

hope everyone’s doing well and enjoying their little ones 🫧

Shep21 · 15/03/2023 06:06

@Ubbee Weve been purely formula feeding and she’s gaining weight nicely! However, she won’t take much more than 60ml at each feed and is waking every 2 hours for a feed day and night. Overnight we take a late and an early shift and so it means we get a decent chunk of sleep and then a bit in between once she’s settled back down in her next to me. Hoping as she continues to grow she can take more in each bottle, and go longer between feeds🤞🏻

Report

TeddyBeans · 15/03/2023 10:40

@Ubbee we're somewhere between 2.5 and 4.5 hours between feeds at the moment. She'll either have a full 4oz in one go or take drips and drabs for 2 hours 🤦‍♀️ and then wake up and hour later for more which is incredibly frustrating at 3am!

Thanks for the new thread 😊

We have a feeding plan at the moment as Evie had lost 12.2% of her birth weight at the 5 day check. She has been weighed today at day 9 and is on 7% weight loss so definitely going the right way.
I’m pumping and doing formula top up every 3 hours or earlier if she demands it.

Finding it tough pumping through the night, boobs are a bit hot and lumpy as I have missed some when husband did the night feeds.

How are people sharing night feeds if you aren’t breastfeeding?

And I definitely don’t have any urges for another baby right now, you lot are crazy 😂

Report

TeddyBeans · 15/03/2023 15:36

@Blocklynn DP stays up til 12.30/1ish and then brings little lady to bed with him. I do any wake ups after that. Glad to hear Evie's putting weight on now! Slowly but surely is better than losing 😊 keep up the good work!

Thank you @TeddyBeans

I’m thinking we might have to try splitting the nights as it makes us super tired if we do a whole night each

Report

Shep21 · 15/03/2023 17:05

@Blocklynn We do very similar to @TeddyBeans - I’ll get about 3 hours before DP brings her up to bed around 1ish. I’ll then do the feeds and changes after this and let him sleep through. We’ve both been getting around 5.5hrs sleep a night.

Report

Babynum2 · 15/03/2023 17:23

I'm solely doing the nights as I really can't be bothered to pump. I feed at 11pm go to bed he normally wakes between 1-2am and then 4-5am then 8am I'm up for the day.

Report

Franklin321 · 15/03/2023 17:28

I’m also solely doing the nights as husband is useless when tired and I’d rather he slept and did more in the day/looked after the toddler. If he did a night he’d need a whole week to recover 😅

I drink a lot of coffee and nap when I can 🙃

@TeddyBeans that's bloody nature that, making us forget all the pain and struggles of pregnancy 🤣 but now you have one of each! @Thirdtimesacharm3 haha 3 is my limit 😂 the midwife actually said to me when I had just given birth to Sybil "do you see why women keep coming back to have babies" she's got a point. I'm so sorry, I really hope everything settles down soon and he is doing okay ❤️

@TeddyBeans Oh it's very annoying when you get conflicting opinions/information from different people 😩 yeah just keep an eye on it and trust your instincts. The doctor told us to use the fucidin for 7 days and then stop which we did, but her belly button is getting pussy and red again so I might just use the cream for a few more days and see if it gets better because it was getting better! Also Sybil is doing the same - she'll either eat the 4oz in one go or eat little bits over the course of a couple of hours!

I also love all the names everyone has chosen for their babies, they're all so cute!
