To the NICU mum's, you guys are incredible. I can't imagine how difficult it must be to be separate from your babies. I hope your babies get well soon and you're all together and home as quickly as possible ❤️❤️❤️

@TeddyBeans baby was refusing to sleep in snuzpod or Moses basket at first so we were doing shifts of holding her overnight zzzzzzz lol now dp is back to work he is on call until 1-2am then I'm doing on call from 2-7 when he gets up for work. It's going ok some nights haha

I do think it's amazing how quickly you get used to the lack of sleep tho, not sure dp agrees 😂😂

I've been up for the past 3 hours with this little lady who won't be put down in her next to me. She is 10 days old and still feeding every 2 hours.

Suchardchoccy · 09/03/2023 05:17

The nights started really well but she doesn't seem to like her next to me and has started crying in the night now, I'm so tired especially with a 16 month old who also is a terrible sleeper

Report
GreenIsle · 09/03/2023 05:30

@Suchardchoccy same I've a 15 month old here who wakes up at 5am every day so not much sleep to be had here.

Suchardchoccy · 09/03/2023 12:22

@GreenIsle people keep telling me we've got our hands full for having them so close together, but it will be worth it I think when they're older!

I would have loved a smaller age gap. Unfortunately DS's dad had other ideas and sodded off (a blessing with the power of hindsight). He'll be 5 in April but seeing how much he dotes on his sister is just adorable 🥰

Slightly concerned about DD's belly button (pic attached). It's not red/doesn't look infected but it's often bloody and when I've cleaned it there's a little pinkish bubble in the middle. I'm not sure if it's closing up properly or not. I've stopped cleaning it in hopes that it helps it to close together... HV is coming tomorrow but I don't know if it's in their remit, otherwise I have a midwife appointment on Tuesday and will ask then unless she starts looking like she's getting poorly

@TeddyBeans ah well everything happens for a reason! I can imagine it's very cute 😍 and he will be more aware of his sister, she will also have a big older brother to look after her!
Sybil's belly button was a bit red and pussy and we went to the doctor he gave us some fucidin cream to rub on it for a week and it's looking better now, see what the HV says

TeddyBeans · 10/03/2023 07:49

@Suchardchoccy oh it definitely does! I've upgraded massively when it comes to DP 😁 DS is absolutely wonderful with DD, she's going to be able to rely on him for life I think 🥰

Sybil is such a beautiful name! Glad to hear she's doing well. Will see what HV says and go from there

Place marking! I hope everyone is doing well? I can't believe baby no name is 2 weeks old today (really need to think of a name). Had the HV and midwife come today and they are very happy with my little boy and can't believe how chunky he has got so makes me happy that the breastfeeding is going well so shocked i have stuck to it. I also cannot put him down at night though so not much sleep happening this end.

@Eastybaby19 glad to hear he's doing well 🥰 From a quick Google it looks like she might have a granuloma. HV suggested putting salt on it so going to give that a go

@Saltandpepperr baby no name! That's really cute 🥰 sounds like you're both doing really well with the feeding! Night times sound tough though, hopefully he'll settle down soon and you can get some rest

Any good binge watch recommendations for the overnight feeds? Lol I've been randomly watching footballers wives 😂 i forgot how utterly ridiculous it is

Report
TeddyBeans · 10/03/2023 23:18

@beatingheartbaby if you have prime and like fantasy/thriller stuff then carnival row is a good one. DP and I have just started watching it again so we remember the story for season two binge watching in a few days time. Sandman is also good (netflix) but a bit lacking in action. But I'd probably get stuck into lord of the rings or another equally long movie to pass the time tbh 🤣

Thanks I'll take a look. Forgot we started sandman before and dp wasn't into it so that could be one for when I'm up myself lol

We started the salt treatment yesterday and gave little miss her first bath (HV said it was fine, just needed to make sure her belly button stayed dry). She had a very busy day at her nanna's 60th birthday being passed around. Every time she got comfy, she was passed onto the next person. After her bath, she slept for 3 whole hours on the changing mat in the living room 🤣 she made up for it by being a pickle during her early morning feed.

How's everyone else getting on?

Do you not find you get really protective when she's being passed around? We were also at a family party yesterday and I felt super cautious about too many people holding her.
I'm feeling a bit run down today, seem to have got my 1st post birth period which is annoying as I thought I'd have longer given I'm breastfeeding..

@DaisyRainbow how many weeks is baby? I'm on day 15 I'm still bleeding post birth and wondering when period will come I'm also breastfeeding.

Report
DaisyRainbow · 12/03/2023 16:23

@Saltandpepperr she's 6.5weeks (25th Jan) I had no idea what to expect but a quick Google suggested that breastfeeding often delayed it.

I didn't get mine last time until after more than 6 months, don't remember exactly. Does your baby sleep well/go a long time without feeding overnight? I've read that a long stretch overnight can be long enough for the hormones that breastfeeding suppresses to elevate and induce your cycles to resume

No it doesn't bother me, they're just excited because it's been 10 years since there was a new baby in their family 😊 DS doesn't really count as he was already 2.5 when he was added to their family. We've had lots of visitors over the last 12 days and I've loved showing her off to everyone. Appreciate that's not everyone's cup of tea though

@TeddyBeans I quite enjoy showing off my babies too 🤣 although I'm definitely the kind of person who has no issue saying ok give her back now, which helps!
