When did your baby walk?

Masterchefzs · 16/01/2023 19:42

DS turned one end of December. He just started pulling to stand and does it all the time

i stand him up but he won’t stand independelty

im worried as I feel he’s so far off walking how can I help him?

is this abnormal is something wrong?

My friend is a health visitor and said as he was a bit chunky (24lb at 10 months lol - but taller than 99% of babies that age haha) it can take longer for him to get leg strength and it seems so because he barely straightened his legs until 7-8 months

is this normal I’m worried he’s not close to walking

One at 12 months, one at 16 months. Both fine, both normal.

BuffaloCauliflower · 16/01/2023 19:45

11 months but he was definitely on the early side. The range of normal for walking is huge and the guidance is there’s no reason to be concerned about them not walking till they’re over 18 months. You’ve got a long time until you need to worry.

gravyriceandchips · 16/01/2023 19:45

About one ish. I've heard a lot of people say boys a little bit later. It sounds like it's all going well

I think up to 18m is the normal range isn't it? So loads of time for him yet! Have a look at Milestones and Motherhood on instagram, she is a paediatric PT and has loads of tips and ideas to help with motor skills Smile

NugsNotDrugs · 16/01/2023 19:45

16 months
14 months
and 9 months.
I can confirm that you honestly wouldn’t be able to tell which one was the earliest walker!

ShowOfHands · 16/01/2023 19:46

DD was 11 months (she was 23lbs at 7 months!). DS was 9 months.

However...

My nieces were 14 and 16 months respectively.

All withing the scope of normal. Give it time.

Icecreamandapplepie · 16/01/2023 19:46

Lb- 17 months

2 girls- both 13 months

Don't worry!

GreenIsle · 16/01/2023 19:46

My ds just turned 13 months and no sign of walking yet. He will pull himself up to stand on things but still a bit clumsy.

Eastereggsboxedupready · 16/01/2023 19:46

My youngest age was 9 months. Oldest age was 15 months but he had a medical issue.

The ds who walked at 9 months had a ds who walked at 7 months!
Absolutely nothing great about it. He was a bloody nightmare! Don't rush them is my advice!

DidyouNO · 16/01/2023 19:46

DS1 18 months DD 8.5 months DS2 9 months and DS3 13 months.

thehappyhaggis · 16/01/2023 19:48

Mine was 18 months. He cruised around the furniture and walked holding hands for a long time before that. But didn't do it independently until then.

My son was opposite to your wee one - average height but 20th centile for weight. I used to think his wee skinny legs couldn't hold him!

FT123456 · 16/01/2023 19:53

My little one is 13 months and not walking yet. He can stand without holding anything but only for a few seconds then it's like he get worried and sits back down. He's been cursing around the furniture since about 9 months. Also atm just loves to climb up and down the sofa lol . I would say nothing to worry about yet. From what I've read 18 months then you may want to speak to hv

willithappen · 16/01/2023 19:54

10 months for my dd

Totally normal for babies to take up to 18 months to walk

FamilyFunAdventure · 16/01/2023 19:55

I wouldn’t worry until they’re 18 months.

rsfgp · 16/01/2023 19:58

9 months, 10 months x 2. Honestly at this point I'd just enjoy it! It sounds like he'll almost certainly be walking by 18 months.

nildesparandum · 16/01/2023 19:59

15 months and 22 months

The late walker was lazy and would point to things for someone else to get them rather than walk.

Surgarblossom · 16/01/2023 20:01

Little boy - 16 months

Baconand · 16/01/2023 20:04

16 months, DD was and still is incredibly cautious with gross motor skills. Miles ahead in other areas but slow to crawl, slow to walk, still can’t run at well over 3. Nothing wrong with her at all but she is very careful.
On the plus side she has never bolted, always holds hands and walks quietly. Doesn’t like anything dangerous! Makes life easier-don’t wish yourself a livewire @Masterchefzs

ToddleToddleToddle · 16/01/2023 20:04

Baby steps at 12 months, but walking properly by 14.

Walking is an 18 month milestone, so you are far from needing to worry

HappyBook · 16/01/2023 20:07

DC1 15 months and DC2 9 months. DC1 was not very mobile - didn’t really crawl much. DC2 was on the move from 3 months - rolled everywhere!

Please don’t worry. Your DS sounds fine. He’ll do it when he’s ready.

jannier · 16/01/2023 20:07

Care for a very dainty 13 month old only just started using a walker no need to worry for a few months yet

Geranium1984 · 16/01/2023 20:10

First steps at 10.5 months 😵‍💫

MumofSpud · 16/01/2023 20:17

Both DD and DS were about 10/11 months - and DGD (1 last week) walks about v steadily

Do not worry - a) 'slow' walkers catch up - no worries
b) it is a nightmare when they are mobile! Don't rush it!

rattlinbog · 16/01/2023 20:19

DS was 14 months

Dinosaursdontgrowontrees · 16/01/2023 20:24

Dd1 12 months
Ds 9 months
Dd2 17 months

Any time before 18 months is considered to be perfectly fine. Try not to worry your little one will get there!
