When did your baby walk?

DS turned one end of December. He just started pulling to stand and does it all the time

i stand him up but he won’t stand independelty

im worried as I feel he’s so far off walking how can I help him?

is this abnormal is something wrong?

My friend is a health visitor and said as he was a bit chunky (24lb at 10 months lol - but taller than 99% of babies that age haha) it can take longer for him to get leg strength and it seems so because he barely straightened his legs until 7-8 months

is this normal I’m worried he’s not close to walking

walking at 9 m is a nightmare

chronictonic · 16/01/2023 21:28

My DD walked at 9/10 months. Never crawled.
Could walk and walk, but couldn't get up again if she plopped down onto her bum.
Was rubbish at climbing for ages too!
I think because did the stages all 'backwards'

Eatentoomanyroses · 16/01/2023 21:28

11 months but because she was tall and pretty heavy she was quite bow legged and her feet turned in. She fell over so much my nerves were in tatters. I wouldn’t rush him.

DD was 13 months

specialk9 · 16/01/2023 21:31

Honestly don't worry! Sounds like he's doing great.

1st - girl - 19m delayed due to hyper mobility
2nd - boy - 11m
3rd - boy - 14m

We have twins 1 year one walks one doesnt yet.our 2 year old walked before 1 .there all different and progress different dont worry about it but don't make them stand before there ready. If there back isn't developed enough or strong enough for the weight they will be very uncomfortable and you could put them off trying

Stickmansmum · 16/01/2023 21:32

11mths, 10 mths, 11 mths, 12 mths.

All early walker especially #2 but she was crawling at 6 mths.

My DD is nearly 19 months and not walking independently (although she is cruising, walking holding hands etc). She is still under the care of neonatal outpatients from having sepsis at birth, and in Dec, the consultants said that if she isn't walking by the end of Feb, they will refer her for further investigations / physio etc. We've recently found out that several members of our wider family have hypermobility, so wondering if that might be the reason, but we will wait and see.

So at 12months, i think you have some time before you need to start to worry :)

PeppermintChoc · 16/01/2023 21:35

Both boys. 12 and 14m. I didn’t think the latter one would ever walk. He just did it one day, had far less build up than the first.

Marblessolveeverything · 16/01/2023 21:37

First one 15 months the second ten months. Eldest talked earlier and could issue instructions There Is quite a range.

twofojoy · 16/01/2023 21:37

DC1 10 months - had no idea it was early at the time as always seemed quite eager to get on the move.

DC2- 18 months with lots and lots of bribery , would still be carried everywhere 2 years later to this day if we'd let her.

Mulhollandmagoo · 16/01/2023 21:44

16 months here, we had our one year check around 13 months and the HV didn't seem at all concerned that she wasn't walking.

123woop · 16/01/2023 21:51

One day, he will just crack it and then be off and you'll be like "gosh that was easy - why didn't you do it sooner" 😂 Mine was quite slow to walk, despite being fast to sit up/crawl/roll over etc. and then one day she just started walking at about 15 months and that was it!

Chubbydoll · 16/01/2023 21:54

Pulled to stand at 9 months and was walking at 11 months

whiteroseredrose · 16/01/2023 22:00

Both of mine took first steps around their first birthday. A friend's DS was about 18 months but is a runner now. They do it when they're ready.

purpledalmation · 16/01/2023 22:02

8 months. Looked like a chukky doll according to SIL

tarobubbletea · 16/01/2023 22:08

DS was 16 months.. now almost 19 months and running around everywhere!

Scarecrowrowboat · 16/01/2023 22:12

18 months and 8 months. Definitely preferred 18 months!

AdoraBell · 16/01/2023 22:12

Twins, DD1 took wobbly steps the day after their birthday, DD2 about 4 weeks later. DD2 formed a complete clear words before DD1 thought.
